Surprise
As I pretty much expected I'm leaning towards returning the 15 Pro and going back to my 13 mini. While I'm getting better at using it than I thought I would, there are just somethings that are just too cumbersome for me to use one handed which is how I typically use it by choice and then in some cases by necessity. This morning I took the mini instead of the Pro with me for our walk (walk the dogs about 4 miles each day) and instantly was reminded why I prefer smaller iPhones. The areas that the Pro better just don't make up for it for me yet (and then it costing $1200).

I really wish my provider made it easier to switch eSims back and forth, but they (mint mobile) charges every time you switch after the first 2 it seems. So I miss physical sim slot too. I guess I have until Friday to make up my mind!
Returned today.

They certainly aren't

Far superior HDR, better low light performance, lens flare has improved slightly and no more does it blow out highlights.

Better detail more versatile for zoom and short range zoom

All major areas of improvement
Lol you are speaking about software. Download ProCamera and you have all.

returning it tomorrow . only lasted me till 5pm (my day ends at 8pm)
Why are you returning? I’m trying to determine whether the heat risk ( long term failure of parts because of the more powerful CPU) is with the reward of having the fastest processor and ProMotion. I’m seriously considering the 15 Plus because of all of this.

Release day 15 pro returned to Apple Store today, the main reason is I can't be bothered with another year of poor battery life like I had with the 14 pro.

Very limited stock of 15 plus in the store. The only 15 plus models in stock - 1x 256gb blue and 1x 256gb yellow.

I decided to return mine, not because I didn’t like it but because I realized I don’t need it, my 14 Pro Max is awesome and I let myself get drawn in by marketing. I felt relieved when I returned it and went back to using my 14 Pro Max. I don’t need to get a new phone that quick lol.

For whatever reason it blows my mind 14 pro max came out a year ago. Feels like half that time in my world

Ah, let me ask - did you maybe buy the 14pm six months ago? I have a hunch about why it probably feels that way 🤯

This feels like the 14S - a little speed bump and a few ok features over the previous year. Nice to get a few years out of the 14 Pro Max and save some money this year.

isn't it a great feeling, the feeling of 'saving' by not coughing up while still enjoying a phone we forked $1,100+ over for merely a year ago? That subjectively also has some benefits (lightning depending on use case, Stainless steel depending on preference, more mature iOS if you stayed on iOS 16, more durable back glass, not playing panel or build lottery, avoiding potential brush ups with 'heat gate') :p

Win win, luxury phone life and good feels.

In all honesty, the cost is still hard to take. It's my first ever phone that I paid full price for. Before that, all my phones since 2004 came either free, or the cost was nominal (under $200 Canadian).
But the phone is amazing. It's very fast, photos are great, the battery life is incredible, and, I might have gotten lucky, but my phone doesn't get warm even while charging.
So no, in a nutshell, I am not returning it.

For me USBc, better CPU and more RAM are enough reasons to upgrade.
To be honest I think the new CPU may be a bit of a con. It’s smaller, seemingly hotter, mildly faster and gives no battery benefit.

When using the 15 Pro Max I noticed that it often felt warm when I was doing very little. I can use the 14 PM for hours without this.

I don’t know, it just feels like a very ‘gen 1’ product. I bet the 16 Pro Max will be a superb phone with all the little foibles of the 3nm processor worked out.

It’s all academic anyway. All the iPhones are very good at the end of the day so enjoy whichever you settle with.

More RAM is big upgrade for me. And we can be sure that iPhone 16 Pro will not come with more than 8 GB RAM or šith better chipset than 3nm 👍

Returned my 15 Pro today. They didn’t even ask me why. They just scanned it and issued the refund.
Back to my 12 Pro. Don’t notice any difference. Battery life is obviously not as good (83%), but I’ll just get that replaced when it gives me trouble to put another 2-3 years life into the device. One thing I realized after watching all the videos is that I don’t really need a Pro. The regular 15 would be perfect (I didn’t use the action button, turned off AOD, barely take zoomed photos, etc… )

Anyhow, let’s see what iPhone 16 brings.

Well after thinking I got a perfect phone it has to go back, was taking a picture yesterday and everything looked all hazy, thought there was something on the lens and I wiped it off and it didn’t help. So I look at the back of the phone and the lens for the main camera was all fogged up wtf! Noticed a bit later in the day this strange fog was on all 3 lenses. Never seen anything like it on an iPhone, it must have something to do with the black gunk that I’ve noticed coming out of the lenses the last couple of weeks. I figured it had to be something that had got on the phone, guess not. Seems as if whatever they use to seal the lens cover in place was defective and never cured right or something.

From some of the stories I’ve read here it seems like it’s a nightmare to get something like this resolved as Apple makes you purchase a new phone and then return the defective one? That would be a deal breaker if true. Apple needs to make this right. 😡

I upgraded from a regular 14 and while I feel a little guilty at indulging in silly materialistic desires :) I'm still keeping my 15 Pro. I definitely notice a difference in picture quality--notably, the level of detail-- and the sharper screen, smoother scrolling and the AOD are all nice bonuses.

I went from a 12 mini to a regular 14 first. The 14 was a good transitional phone to get used to the extra size and weight. A regular 15 might be a good compromise for you.

The issue is though is I don't really want a bigger phone. ;) I want the Pro features! (promotion, always on display, better cameras, newer processor/additional RAM, full usb-c transfer speeds etc.). Unfortunately a regular 15 doesn't get me any of that. The features the regular 15 has over the 13 mini don't really interest me enough to switch (and pay for) although yeah it might help me get used to a larger phone.

yeah, think I'm keep my 15 Pro. battery life has been fine and it's about the same feel/weight as the old 11 Pro it's replacing.

honestly though, i'm not finding it a huge amount better than the 11P. Cameras, yes, of course, and you can tell it has more RAM because apps aren't being swapped out nearly as much. but performance within the apps themselves seems the same.

and I could take or leave Stede Bonnet's Dynamic Island.

I returned my 15 Pro max which is the first time that I didn’t do a 2-year upgrade since iPhone 4. I did a whole bunch of testing and I found the camera to be very similar to my 13 Pro. Yes, 15 Pro Max has better cameras but the difference is not very dramatic.

Well mine is going back. Question, though - if I’ve ordered directly from Apple online, can I take it back to a physical Apple store? And do I need to initiate a return beforehand, or can I just walk in and ask for a refund?

I’m in the UK if that makes any difference.
