As mentioned in my post, I used the 200$ Apple Pro Cable which is USB 3.2 certified. I tested other cables as well.

From the post you quoted: "… and yes, I tested it with multiple cables, all USB 3.2 certified, even the original Apple Pro cable."

I updated the post and now and highlighted it with some color.
I believe you need to specifically use the Thunderbolt 4 cable. What is the $200 Pro cable? The other 240w usb c cable from Apple isn’t the same thing as the Thunderbolt cable.

I’ll put it this way. Being on the go with numerous devices? USBC is the ONLY thing that got me to go from 14-15 pro maxes, and in less than a week I can affirm that was the correct decision for my personal usage.

However, can honestly say if it wasn’t for that? Or to anybody who has a 14Pro/PM and is thinking of upgrading? That there is zero reason to upgrade unless a new more common connector is that valuable.

The displays on both of our phones look crisper and clearer than our 14PM displays.

Can anyone else comment on this? I haven’t seen this mentioned anywhere else and I’m not sure what would make it so.

With that being said I did say major color/tone shifts between the 12P-13P and lesser but still some difference in the 14P. So it’s def possible

My iPhone 15 Pro Max backs up to my Mac Studio more quickly than my iPhone 14 Pro Max did so I seem to be getting USB 3.1 speeds with my Thunderbolt 4 cable.

It might be an optical illusion with the reduced borders.

Send them back to Apple and upgrade to an iPhone SE 3rd gen. Apple have managed to revolutionize the design by cutting all the size, bulk and weight, and beautifully rounding off the corners. It’s more energy efficient and you don’t need two hands to lift it. It’s more environmentally friendly to ship, and for you to cart around every day. They’ve even managed to reduce the size of that obscene camera bump. For some reason Apple have incorrectly priced these at $400!! Get one before they realize!

That is an active cable so even at 3m length it should be providing USB-C 3.1 speeds (10Gbps) which is what the iPhone 15 Pro family is rated for.
The iPhone 15 Pro clearly does not provide anything remotely close to USB 3.1 speeds when restoring from backup or transferring files to it. Not even remotely(!) close. There is also another thread about this.

That’s because when something is rated at 10Gbps it doesn’t mean you will get those speeds. Like with the USB 2.0 was rated at 480Mbps, but in reality it wasn’t even close to that!

I honestly probably should've kept my 14 Pro Max.. but I sold it about 2 months ago to maximize value. I'll enjoy USB-C and action button for quick photos though. Plus it's my fav color iPhone ever.

I was under the impression that the 14 and 15 have the same display. Is that false?
Sort of. Even the same model can have different display suppliers. I compared multiple 13 mini which had two different sorts of displays. They differed in contrast and color shift when viewed at an angle, and smaller text was more comfortable to read on one of them and more difficult on the other. I also measured color accuracy with a colorimeter, where they differed significantly. Ironically, the one that was easier to read for me (and which I kept) had worse color accuracy and more color shift at an angle. Even within the same display supplier, there can be variations. Display production is an analog process, there is a range that is within Apple's specs, but it’s a range, not an exact product.

Yea!

I returned my 15 Pro in Natural Titanium and instead got a regular 15 in Green. In my opinion, sooooo much better - better battery, better feel in the hand, lighter weight, fun color.

Loving it, a joy to pick up and use.

I'll likely return my 15 pro. I like it very much, but it doesnt last long enogh and I need a reliable tool...and being able to keep it ON throughout the day is the very first prerequisite for a tool
Try the 15PM if you need more battery capacity or buy the attached battery pack (small and gives you about another 75% capacity). If neither gets you through the day then I suggest an iPad Pro…

Planning to do that too! Returning my 15 pro max because of a dead pixel and might get a normal 15 instead. I really don’t need the “pro” features for my usage haha plus its 500 euros cheaper 😆

I am having second thoughts and was curious if anyone else is having remorse for upgrading. The phone is beautiful and the updates are nice I am just not sure if it is worth it coming from an 14PM after using it for the last 4 days.
I can unequivocally say I would not have upgraded from the 14 Pro Max. With that said, I can also unequivocally say the 15 Pro Max is a phenomenal device, even coming from my 6.1” 13 Pro. I think then new chassis/design, USB-C, action button, camera upgrades, Always on Display, Dynamic Island are great upgrades for me. I’m perplexed by the amount of negative threads and comments about the iPhone 15 and 15 Pros. Seems more this year than usual.

If your eyes can see a dead pixel on an iPhone 15 pro max screen then that is very impressive, given the pixels are 0.05mm or 50 microns in size.

I know it’s really small but once you see you can’t unsee it 😅 I know I’m probably just being picky because a “normal” person wouldn’t even care lol
Unfortunately mine also has dust both in the front and back camera, ultra wide to be precise….
I was hoping for a better qc from apple this year but I guess not 💀

Edit : interesting thing is the “dust” in the ultra wide camera is red so I guess it’s not a dust but some sort of glitter? It’s REALLY small tho.
Can’t really take a good macro photo with my 7 plus 😅

May I ask what made you pre-order, coming from a 14PM? What did you see which made you think the experience would be different? I'm genuinely curious.
