I do photography and videography too and wondering about how all the new features will work out. I currently have no desktop, just a MBP and an iPad Pro. But I'm wondering if these features work out that maybe when I take photography trips, I can just take my iPad Pro in which case I could get an iMac desktop with more power for editing.

I think that's exactly the case and I will be testing it on some trips in the future.

If I need to do an intense edit, of course I'm going to stick with my MacBook Pro. But if I'm going on vacation and I want to edit together a short video and tweak some pictures in Lightroom, hopefully I'll be able to take just my iPad.

I already tried plugging my Canon M50 directly into my iPad with the USB cable and it imported perfectly (iOS 12). From what I've heard so far, in iPadOS 13 you can directly copy files off a camera into a folder on your iPad so they don't show up in your Camera Roll.

I guess only time will tell!

I would if only I could. Evening in UK 24/09/19 and no sign of iPad OS. Perhaps today's tomorrow.

Edit. No sooner had I posted the update appears......with several hours to spare.

update it from 13.1 public beta 4. Took a while for the download but all is well. The only problem I still have is my scrolling wheel on my mouse from logitech still needs to be switched off and back on again in order for it to scroll. Not all the time but from time to time.

Encountered my first bug 20 minutes after updating. Switching orientations moved the dock but nothing else, had to restart to fix. I’ll keep checking but hopefully nothing is too broken.

Hold up, are you the D4rkShaDoWz that posted all sorts of fan art and posters over on Superherohype back when the Dark Knight was coming out? I loved your stuff back in the day!

For your vacation the iPad will definitely do the trick. The files app is miles ahead of the version in iOS 12 and you can even access the iPad's internal storage, not just cloud providers. Still not quite as good as finder, but suitable for vacation purposes.

I've had that since iOS 11, less frequently on 12, but usually flipping it back and up again fixed it, never had to restart before...

Anyone having issues updating an iPad Air 2(ancient but works) to iPadOS13.1? I keep getting an error has occurred and either to retry or remind me later options.
I’m trying to update through the iPad. I can’t try my computer because it’s out of commission for the time being.
Anyone?

Still haven’t gotten the update yet on my iPad. Does anyone know if you have to revert back to the regular iOS 12 if you are on the beta or does it update directly from the beta?

This has happened to me many times over the past couple of months, so I don’t think it’s directly related to this update.

Completed mine and haven’t had any issues thus far.

Like the title says are you guys gonna updated on the first day itself to the iPad OS i.e. Tomorrow 09/24/2019 ? or are you guys gonna wait ? Does it make any sense in waiting for some days ?

I couldn’t wait for a second developer beta, let alone wait after a release.

I use my Apple devices for work, but still, I am an enthusiast and incredibly passionate about this stuff. In my house, WWDC is like the world cup for most people. I love OS updates and can hardly wait to start using them, so the question is not if I’ll install new iOS, macOS or iPadOS on day one, it’s usually which beta will I start using.

I am actually smiling right now at my computer reading what you just wrote. Yep, same person! I honestly can't believe you'd remember all that. Thank you for these kind words, it just made my day!

When that film came out, I was fourteen. Now I'm a little bit older and a freelance editor. Haven't done that many fan posters lately but I still post YouTube videos every now and then.

Hoping this iPad will help me out with my workflow as I'm super excited for Sidecar.

Thanks again! 😁

I’ve avoided the betas, since reports about them were largely negative in reliability terms, but I couldn’t resist putting the full version on as soon as it became available. Dear god what a mistake. Nothing works - drag and drop is borked, iCloud Keychain is unusable, the settings app gets locked in a loop every time I open it... I‘ve restarted twice but nothing‘s improved. If my experience is in any way representative of 13.1 in general then I’d really urge people to hold off until 13.2.

At the public library now updating a phone and two iPads. My internet at home is really slow.
Got the phone updated and one iPad is installing, the other is preparing.
Wish me luck.

That's awesome! I was 16 back then and doing a lot of fan art illustration (I was mostly active around when Spider-Man 3 came out, more of a lurker by the Dark Knight). These days I'm a freelance illustrator and trying to shift the majority of my work to the iPad. I only need a full on computer for ~5% of my artwork work these days, but it is absolutely imperative for that 5%. Sidecar is also something I'm excited about-- hoping to cut the Astropad Subscription, my only concern is latency.

Do you have a portfolio or website where I can see your current work?
