I’ve avoided the betas, since reports about them were largely negative in reliability terms, but I couldn’t resist putting the full version on as soon as it became available. Dear god what a mistake. Nothing works - drag and drop is borked, iCloud Keychain is unusable, the settings app gets locked in a loop every time I open it... I‘ve restarted twice but nothing‘s improved. If my experience is in any way representative of 13.1 in general then I’d really urge people to hold off until 13.2.
Not seeing any of that. Sounds like you got a bad install.

Yes... I updated an iPad Air 2 but I’ve not really played with it yet. The update went fine. I’m playing on my iPad Pro right now.

I’ll post back if I hit any problems on the Air 2.

several beta testers said it was ok. I backed it up so can always restore if I hate it I suppose.

iPad Pro 9.7" All OK & Works well
iPad Pro 10.5" All inbox Mail & All Archive mail has 'No Sender" Mail since is OK. 2 x Google + 1 X iCloud. Mail accounts. Have checked iCloud as all mail gets shared to 2 iPhones & the iPads via my Mac Book Pro.. No Ideas :

This is something we all need to hear. Sometimes it's good to wait a bit and let things shake out. This is complex software. Developers and beta testers can't be counted on to uncover all potential issues that reveal themselves only in the real world.

I’ll give it a week, cuz end of Warranty is coming up.

is this a public manifestation of how the iPad OS may just s go Haywire ? After reading this I am more nervous and anxious about installing it ! Guys can someone further confirm in this if this a common phenomenon with everyone !

Well I’m happy other people aren’t having as hard a time with it as I am (sincerely). I think iCloud issues might be at the root of at least some of my problems, but there are some things that are definitely down to the OS. For example Face ID no longer works - it scans my face, the padlock icon opens, but I still Need to enter my passcode as swiping up does nothing. im discovering that the keyboard isn’t really working either. I suspect a full reset and fresh install might be required.

I don’t know about everyone else but I have been running all beta versions of iPad OS and it’s awesome.
The problem is that after updating to the final version yesterday, my battery is dropping like crazy.
in 10 minutes without activity it went from 99% to 93% after it was plugged all night and probably doing its indexing.

I am not sure if this is a common thing, but I am hoping it will not repeat itself...

Anyway, iPad Pro without iPad OS is just a big iPhone.
Mouse support plus a keyboard make it an amazing portable machine good enough for basic work.

I might wait just a bit before putting it on my iPad mini 4. I have it on a fifth generation cellular iPad that I have on the iPadOS 13 Public Beta config profile, albeit it's still the most recent public beta. Just a little nervous about how it will affect A8 performance. That (a) the dividing line is 2GB of RAM, and (b) that the degree of architectural improvements (and raw performance jumps) between the A8 family of SoCs and the A9 is so much greater than that of most of the jumps since (to my knowledge) doesn't instill the greatest degree of confidence in me about system performance on the mini 4. iPad Air 2, I'd be less worried about. But the mini 4 is THE least powerful of all of the devices allowed in the iOS 13/iPadOS party this year and that typically means it's the one to be wary of.

I also didn't feel great about how many more bugs there were this beta period than there were for iOS 12 on iPad. This seemed like another Apple OS release where they crammed too much into a summer that just wasn't long enough for them to refine the experience. I'm at least glad that they didn't let iPadOS 13.0 see general release. That was scary buggy.

I’m really looking forward to a couple of the new features, especially quickpath. But waiting a couple weeks myself. I’m in no rush. Thanks to all the early adopters. Hope all goes well.

Ok, So I went ahead and installed the Official Public Release of the iPad OS 13.1, The update took roughly around 30-35 Minutes to get installed. So far the new iPad OS does not look very smooth, I mean it is not buttery smooth a couple of observations, SIRI is taking a bit longer for everything, for everything asked Siri says One moment, which was not the case with iOS 12.4.1. or whatever. I had an instance where the Keyboard in the Messages APP Just got stuck, it freezed would not move or get minimized. I had to force close the APP and again start it. Same is the case in the Files APP Was trying to compress a couple of files in a Zip File while selecting different files, some would get selected and other would get frozen, they would not just get selected. I am getting a feeling, It Might Take a couple of releases of the iPad OS 13.XXX to have a buttery smooth experience and everything to work smoothly. YMMV !!

I’ve installed it on my 9.7 inch basic iPad and I think it’s awesome. Makes so much better use of the screen real estate at last and the little swipe keyboard is a lot more useful than I find it on the iPhone. Very impressed.

I installed 13.1 on my 2017 10.5” Pro earlier today. Took about 30 mins or so. I have not run into any issues thus far but then again, I have not spent too much time on the iPad today. Two things I did notice though. First, while I was looking forward to dark mode, now that I have it, I don’t think I prefer it. Just shows the smudges on the screen. The second thing I noticed is that there seems to be some battery drain, which was not there before. By battery drain, I mean on standby. It could be that since I have just updated, but it’s something I will need to watch out for. Battery life thus far (on 12.xx) has been excellent for my usage profile. I just hope that does not change now with 13.1.

Edit: One thing that I also don’t like (probably because I am yet unfamiliar with it) is how to check for app updates in the Store. I guess, I will get used to it soon enough. But I do think the previous way was more intuitive.

I'm happy to report that a factory reset and fresh setup did indeed do the trick. This time iPadOS is slick, fast and (so far) stable. My only minor issue is that the settings app has a red update badge on it that won't go away, despite there being nothing to update. After all the earlier nonsense though, I can live with that.

So finally my company sent email today to notify us that we can install iOS 13.1.2 on our devices. I installed iPadOS on my iPad and tomorrow I will do it for the iPhone.

For now things look good but I had not had the chance to play around with the system. We will see if I encounter any issues with the Files or OneDrive apps.

So even company testing is not enough. iOS 13 is unusable for my phone. Mail app does not sync emails at all. Reminders are not shared between devices (iPhone and iPad). Both the iPad and iPhone are with iOS 13 so in theory it should work but it does not.

I am now checking my options (if exist at all) to downgrade my phone to iOS 12. This is company phone. If mail is not working and I don't receive emails, the phone is completely useless. I read that I should delete the account and do it again but I have not done this account manually. It was through MDM application and if I delete it I am not sure that I will be able to set it up. So it again makes the phone useless.

Downgrade is not possible anymore. Apple has stopped signing iOS 12 now. I’m on iOS 13 across multiple devices and it seems to be working fine. So you probably want to try and have another go.

Thanks for letting me know that downgrade is not possible anymore!

So for some reason now the Mail has started to work. Don't ask me how I fixed it because I have no idea and I don't know. Now I can receive emails. It is still rather slow and not user friendly. Syncing takes longer time and as a result it never tells me when the sync has been finished. The progress bar does not inform me probably on the process. It used to tell me the different steps like Checking email, Download etc. Now it only says checking emails and it just does nothing.

I will know test the sync for the Reminders app.

P.S: After the fix (that I have no idea what it was) it seems that sometimes is working and sometimes it is not. This used to happen quite often in iOS 12 as well, but so far it seems to be worse in iOS 13.

There are a few weird things going on with this OS. I updated my phone and iPad this week and the only problem I encountered was that when I tried to open OneDrive in the Files App it asked me to sign in to my Microsoft account and when I tried I got the message that my user id did not exist. It wasn’t that important because my usual route into One Drive is via the app in my taskbar, but about three days later the problem disappeared and it all works.
BTW - I’m finding I can’t get on with Dark Mode on the iPad, just don’t like it, but find it OK on the phone so I have the iPad on light mode and the phone on Automatic.
