I can't do large screens. The Nexus 5 is 5" and I find it to be too big.

If Samsung/HTC didn't horribly downgrade their Mini models I would totally pick one them. The issue is they always put in a crappier camera, crappier display, and crappier processor. The "mini" models aren't good. That's why I picked the Moto X. It has a nice small screen that's still bigger than the iPhone (4.7in) yet performs at the ability of the S4 and HTC One M7.

for me its iPhone. i dont like samsung at all. their big phones look hideous.

This through and through. And the interface is never as consistently smooth. Blackberry had intuitive navigation of the OS (ball, pad, or keyboard), and the iPhone is just really fluid and smooth.

Each to their own but my note 3 is far more smooth and fluid than my iPhone 5 ever was.

Samsung has their own division here in the Philippines, so Samsung has already been big here before US started to realize their popularity. My cousin works marketing Samsung TV's. It is very common to see girls no taller than 5-3 carry around a Samsung Galaxy Note.

One-handed operation is overstated. Most people still use two hands to text or browse or play games. One-handed operation is better for those old Nokia candybar phones. Most people I see with iPhones still text with two thumbs or need one hand to hold it and the other as the pointer to interact with the screen. Pocket friendly dimensions is a diff story.

This is why alot of people already are making a jump to giant screens even if they lose the pocket friendly dimensions. Texting faster, browsing web, and watching videos is much better on a big screen. They can live with the compromise. And Samsung is very, very practical in the long run. Removable battery. Memory expansion slot as 64 GB microSD cards are like $60 and can go half price by Christmas. If the rear cover gets messed up, easy and cheap to replace it. Unlike metal phones that need to be completely replaced if there is damage.

I don't even like Samsung or Apple but I can understand their popularity.
