You just had the post above yours give you a good number of stuff to start you off with.

Care to be more honest with your next post?

The post above is hardly "doing more" with some comical stuff thrown in the middle. Removal of the silent button? Why? Notifications already work great in iOS 5. Blue tooth file transfer? Never touched it on my android phones because never needed it. It is slow as molasses as well. And the rest all implementation style choices which you regard as "more".

I'm sure some could get bored. But honestly I've had my GSII for almost a year, and still love it. There's just so many cool tweaks and adjustments. My jailbroken iPhones were customized to the hilt but yet for some reason I still just got bored of using iOS. Maybe it was the screen size though? Never had a problem with the screen until I got my GSII and realized what a night and day difference it makes especially since I can be out and about doing a ton of stuff for business. For some reason I just greatly prefer it to my iPhones for personal use and business use. I've got employee's though with iPhones, Android, Win, BB... so always some fun "banter" back and forth lol

I've known people that went from an Android device to iPhone though b/c they didn't like it. But mainly b/c they had no idea how to use it, themes, settings whatever. They'd see my GSII and be amazed, same way iPhone friends would see mine and blown away but how it looked and was setup. But then again some of these people are the same ones who can't even figure out iTunes or even iCloud now.

You are welcome.

Android does more. If you don't know what or how...

Check my post in the "the grass is not greener on the other side" thread. You'll see a good list of stuff iOS can't do and Android can.

I don't care about or download torrents on my phone. I did install Ttorrent once on my sony arc, but after 3 weeks i had not even launched it so i deleted it.

"There is no way to download a rar and extract and upload to NAS".

There are app on appstore that can download a rar and extract it. Uploading to a NAS not sure about, but once can always sync it to cloud and have the NAS sync back. Or, you could jailbreak and have once program do the job fine.

Swype was cool back then, now it is meh. Swiftkey is great, but the stock samsung keyboard is extremely good and i don't find a need to re-install swiftkey on it. The iPhone keyboard was extremely good too and that negated any need for another keyboard.

Can play emulators through jailbreak if that is your thing. I prefer proper mobile games though. Especially touch optimized. However that is personal preference.

Next one taller, well you are probably fine with a wider phone but i like that the width is unchanged. The S3 is pretty uncomfortable to hold.

Live wallpapers are all disabled on my device. Always have been. Useless and battery hogs. The only widget i use is weather and that is present in iOS through notification center. Rest of them always made me go into the app so i just put the app icon on screen instead.

No need to convert videos you say? I have never converted videos since 2010 and played all my mkvs, avis etc fine on iPhone. No jailbreak required either. What was the last time you used an iPhone?

Black list for unwanted calls - there are jailbreak apps for that. But then i have yet to get a solicitor call on my mobile number.

Hide/Block apps with a password. Well if you are into watching that on your phone, can't really comment lol.

Back button is clever idea and android takes the lead there. Similarly photos management is better, but if you have access to iPhoto it becomes a whole lot better. iTunes on windows is part of the iPhone issues i had. And the biggest was photos.

Still, those two aren't enough for me to stick with android for long. I am more excited about WP8, BB10, and somewhat about iPhone 5 than the next nexus unless it is non-samsung and decent sized. But since the android rule is go big nowadays, a nexus is looking further and further.

Of course it is possible. I met some fella who wanted the next new phone even though he already had one of the newest phones at the time. He's one of those people who will never be satisfied.

So far I'm not bored of Android yet. Just moved from and HTC Android phone to a Samsung Android phone. There was a noticeable difference when I changed.

Anyway, I just love widgets. I find them so useful and fun.

Not sure why you posted a pic of your phone, but ok. Those were just a few of the things you can do with Android that you can't do with iOS.

I'd love to hear your definition of "more".

I like being able to download torrents from my smartphone because I'm not always in the mood of turning on my iMac. Three clicks and I can download any torrent and watch it in the phone in the go.

NAS apps on iOS only allow to upload pictures or videos. Same app on Android allows to upload anything.

I haven't seen an app than can extract .rar files. Which is the one you mentioning? I'd like to try it on my iPad. Still, it wouldn't be able to upload it to the my NAS because there is no accessible file system.

Jailbreak options don't count. We are talking stock. What's the use of jailbreak if I have to wait months for each new release and lose it when a new iOS updates arrives?

The ability to choose a different keyboard for different purposes is a huge plus. I can use Swype for one thing and Swiftkey for another. Writing in Swype is like 2x faster than on the iOS keyboard.

I had like 30 iOS games and almost never played them. I prefer old classic games. No game can beat Donkey Kong or Zelda :D:D

I used VLC, but still stock iOS only allows .mp4 and some other codec. No .avi, .mkv, .wmv, etc.

Black list is very useful. I get undesired calls from carriers all the time. They are annoying.

Hide or block apps is crucial for notes and documents apps, where I store my notes and word documents and pdfs. I am a heavy user of those. For the other thing I already have my computer :D:D

More stuff: download offline maps, better YouTube experience, sending .rar files or whatever on gmail, more sharing options, toggles for Wi-Fi and more in the notification area, notifications in real time, SD card support (I can use my 32GB card in the next phone do I don't need to always buy the 32GB model. I already have the card and so I don't need to spend any more money towards a higher capacity model. On iPhone you need to always buy the 32GB model and you end spending a lot more money every time you renew), etc.

Yes folks these are great if you're a tweaking kind of person but these aren't really sellable features for the average consumer walking through the door.

Fixed it for you. :D

And yeah, what consumer in their right mind would want a phone that can do more for the same price? It's like buying a Bugatti Veyron at a Honda Civic pricetag.

No, buying a Bugatti is buying prestige and performance. High end cars typical offer less choice when it comes to dashboard widgets and other features but they make up for it with style and panache.

Consumers do not buy phones on who has the most features. They buy based on many criterion but they really have to fee comfortable with a device.

It doesn't really matter if product A has 50 more features than product B if the latter product doesn't adequately cover what their primary needs.

I'm glad Android is around to deliver features above and beyond what the average consumer needs. I don't think Apple products are for everyone and this is one area where Apple's going to constrain their product to the meat of the market and leave some of the more esotoeric features to other platforms.

So for the last 15 years i wasn't even aware someone was holding me hostage as i wasn't doing most of that. Oh well. Takes an apple product to bring out the historical problems i guess? lol

I was just kidding. I put that big smiling emoticon on there and everything. I agree with you.

For me, I had simply outgrown iOS. I wanted all the extra software and hardware that came with my S3 and my Nex7, that Apple doesn't have or won't add for whatever reason. :)

So because the average consumer doesn't need them or because Apple thinks the average consumer doesn't need them it makes it ok not to include them?

Why in the world would someone justify less features just because most people don't need them?

Guess what. 20 years ago the average consumer maybe though there was no need for mobile phones, or for internet, or for laptops, etc.

Yeah. Because the average consumer DIDN'T need to have a camera on their phones (and now all of them have cameras).

Since the average consumer doesn't need these extra features then we better all dumb down to adapt to their needs. The average consumer seems to control the world now and they speak for our needs. Awesome.

Don't people realise that the average consumer doesn't need it is the poorest excuse ever? C'mon now. Seriously think about it.

The average consumer doesn't need LTE or 50MB of internet connection, so let's go all back to 1MB.

The average consumer doesn't need full HD either. Let's go back to the DVD.

Open your eyes! Or stop with that stupid excuse.

Does the average consumer need Siri? No. So let's make Apple delete it on the next update. Oh, and we don't need Thunderbolt either. We are all quite happy with USB 2.0 because that's what the average consumer still use......................

Doesn't matter what you say. If someone is firmly entrenched into Apple, they will excuse any deficit, but praise that same deficit if it is later added. And then try to rewrite history claiming Apple created it first. I'm sure some Apple users are already convinced that the notification banners and notification center was invented by Apple and not stolen from Android.

I'm more annoyed by the people who declare that Android is a product stolen from Apple and based on that, Apple has a right to take things like the Notification banners and Center and basically cherrypick whatever else they want while Android should be sued out of existence.

I benefit from widgets without having to go into the actual app all the time. Like for email. Just check the widget to see if I have new email. It's a small thing, but helpful. Same with Google + and news widgets. I can get quick news just be looking at the widget. I know it's trivial, but widgets in Android can be very handy for many things.

That's one of the reasons why I chose Android over iOS.

Yeah i initially had a gmail widget which looked nice and was helpful for a while, but pretty soon i found i was tapping it more than just glancing on it because i usually get up to 10-15 emails a day and if i want to know if i have a new email, the status bar icon and notification shade do the job fine.

The average consumer may not need all the above, but it is a big plus if the average consumer has a choice, if he or she wishes. For example, I tried a couple of keyboards until I found the one I prefer, out of swiftkey, the stock keyboard and Swype, I chose the latter. (because I had a choice)

A lot of people here hate choice. They won't admit it, but they do.

The main reason people are less likely to be bored with Android as opposed to iOS is huge increase in choice on the Android platform.

Agreed.

The other thing of course, is that, without choice, one doesn't know what one is missing. One doesn't know that there may (or may not) be better solutions/processes.

What? People buy iOS because they hate choice? Maybe the benefits of Android (the features listed here) are of zero value to consumers so they choose an iPhone, with its benefits instead. The market is full of informed consumers who evaluate the relative merits of what's out there, and make a reasonable decision. See! Choice is great.

This claim that "people hate choice so they go with Apple" and "they don't even know what they are missing" is pretty self-serving (and embarrassingly stupid), but if you need a pat on the back, it'll do in a pinch I guess.
