So question for all of you. I still have my iPhone 6S Plus with no Sim as it’s in my new Max. Can I just swap it to the Plus to compare connectivity to the Max? And then swap back without any issues?

That way I can tell if it’s an iOS update issue or the actual phone.

Yes you can, and please post back your results.

No Wifi or Cellular issues on my Max. Been testing and it's the same as my X was in all areas I travel.

That's not how any of this works at all.

We all saw a delayed ship with the iPhone X last year, because of low production yield. We also know more about the AirPower delays, for a product that may or may not ever ship. Apple has delayed iCloud Messages, group FaceTime and dual SIM for later dates. Apple delays frequently when the quality isn't there to match their standards... and probably more so in the last 2 years.

Yes, poor decisions and mistakes are made, but this is not a small company making hedges on how crappy their product can be and still launch. Nobody is crossing their fingers. Nobody is trying to hit a random date.

The difference is they still had phones to release in September last year. If they held the Xs they would have had no phones to offer in September.

I picked up my Xs today so haven’t set it up yet but I can say my 6S has had much worse AT&T reception since this past weekend than before. It’s routinely dropping LTE to 4G at home, at my office, out and about, and that used to never happen. I’m not running iOS 12 on it yet fwiw.

Now yes, but how about .......now...

I did the reset solution and it only worked for about ten minutes.
I’m going on almost a day + strong.

I also didn’t realize this because I’ve been working off of WiFi for the first couple of days

We’re having the same problem. It’s not my phone. Something is up with AT&T. When I first moved out to this more rural area a few years ago, we had only 1-2 bars of service. Then within a few months of moving in, we got a new tower and got full bars of service. Somewhere around three weeks ago, we noticed the AT&T service dropped down to the way it was when we first moved here.

If I want to make a call to my dad I have to go to the second floor of my house where I can pick up another bar of service. I don’t know what’s going on with them. And my dad is having problems with Verizon Fios.

Sometimes that happens when they are updating the tower.

Wifi calling?

So here's a question......I traded in my X for the Max. Verizon gave me $540 fo the X, so I only paid $600 plus with taxes and a case. If I return it, do they give me $1100 or just $600?

Okay so see the speeds above. I know we have crappy speeds in our rural NH compared to most of the rest of you. The WiFi speeds are pretty typical for us and show similar across all 3 phones and iPad.

Note: the XS Max one LTE of 3.05 was away from our house while we were out shopping. The rest of the tests for all devices were done at our kitchen table.

But look at the cellular data on the XS Max and the 8. Both of these barely move. What the heck? The 8 used to show LTE before the new iOS 12 update. All three phones are on iOS 12. The iPad Pro is on iOS 11.4.

File a bug report with Apple.

We have an in person appointment tomorrow for an unrelated issue with my husband’s phone. While we are there, I will put in a ticket on my Max. I really, really like it - but just want it to work correctly, especially with the basics. If it’s not better by next week, it’s going back.

Good timing. I wouldn't count on a fix from Apple as early as next week, although they have been known (on rare occasions) to push a needed update out asap.

Like everyone else, I just don’t want to get stuck with a bad piece of hardware. If I was absolutely certain an upcoming update would fix it, I’d for sure keep it.

Even though I am not affected (as far as I can ascertain) I am in agreement, as I would be focused on the same kinds of things. I hope it gets quickly and correctly resolved for all involved.

The Max is a great phone.

I get the exact same signal as my girlfriends 8 plus on the same rooms. Two bars on both on one corner of the room. If I move to the next one 3 bars on both. No dropped calls even whatsapp calls, only one call this morning on an elevator (which is quite normal). For me it performs pretty much the same as my X

Can confirm my just set-up Max on Verizon has the signal issues. WiFi isn’t even half of the X speed. LTE was -115 compared to -60 for the X.

Wish it wasn’t so, but for a 1500 device, it’s already had the return process started. Shame too, love the size and hardware.

Unfortunately, I have zero faith Apple fixes this with the articles like Toms Guide (posted above), and the 14 day return clock is ticking.

Ouch..........
Thanks for the link. Unfortunately, why I started the return process.

I am not aware of there being a signal test app, like what can be seen with the manual inputting of the number sequence into the phone. Which app are you referring to?
"signa test" app which tells me download and upload speed. Idk how to read the numbest off that weird code that we put into the phone dial.
