As long as I am enjoying my new 11", do not care if flop or not.

It is my favorite iPad and I have had all of them. FaceID is seamless!

Also glad Apple gave us a cover the covers the back and front.
What they took away only a year or so ago... the Smart Case

Not really. Some models / configs at certain times.

Simple search on Apple.com shows just about every config available for local pickup today at just about every Apple store in my area. Far from being “sold out” as the poster mentioned that I was replying to.

I'm not getting one. I resent the fact that Apple Pencil users are forced to buy a new $130 one because the Apple Pencils we have don't work with it and the new pencil doesn't work with any other iPad Pro. That's greedy BS IMHO. I'm sticking to my previous gen iPad Pro which works fine.

Now before anyone blows their lid, know that I still do plan to buy on. Hell, I planned to buy one launch day and be at my local best buy at opening. Even asked the day ahead if I had a chance to get one without a pre-order and was told 'if you're here early enough, you should be okay'. Here we are a week later, and it's not only readily available, it never sold out at any store.

To me it's a few things. Coming from an Air 2, this new Pro 11 was a planned day one purchase. Then I decided to wait just a few days for some real world reviews. And the issues starting to arise... you can't use a screen protector on it as it disables Face ID and also touch sensitivity. You cannot apparently use it flat on a couch as seen by many videos. And there are no real cases available, just folios and Chinese knockoffs on amazon. The cherry on top for me is the audacity to increase prices of the device, the folio, and the pencil, yet DOWNGRADE them with a worse camera, non fully functional USB cord, and no extra pencil tips.

So I wonder, did apple overproduce it? Is the price scaring people away? Or do most people just not care about this cycle of the Pro series?

I’m sure others have answered this by now but I’m using a glass screen protector with zero issues. I got it from amazon. It arrived Nov 6. The iPad arrived on the 7th. Admittedly it’s a nambrand I’ve never heard of begfore but the fit and function is perfect. Face ID works great as well as the touch sensitivity is fine. I’m not sure about it not working while laying flat on a couch, but I have taught three times from the iPad while it’s laying flat on a protium with no issues.

I have two Chevy trucks. The year models are not the same, but very close. Otherwise they look identical including the body style and color. The keys are not interchangeable. Lots of things are like Apple pencils. Do I like it? No. But it is what it is.

I wonder if its a bad thing for android that apple is losing its most price sensitive customers. With them gone, apple is free to build cool stuff that might cost more. On the other hand, Android now has a lot more customers who will screech over any price increase. To these people everything is secondary to being low price. I could see this turning out better for apple than for android.

Amen.

I don't think it would have been a flop at all if they would have included backward compatibility with the accessories. The device itself is gorgeous. I have a Gen1 12.9 iPP, and if my pencil and keyboard case would work with the new ones, I'd plunk down for a new one, no question. But as it is, I'd have to rebuy all the accessories, bringing the total cost of upgrading (keeping the same equipment) to $1,700. Then I think about not being able to use my wired in-ear monitors and it's a done deal for me.

I'm looking at maybe getting the Gen2 somewhere. They're still available on Amazon for like $700 (SG, 256, WiFi).

Funny how the «users» that are «loving» their new pad, pod, mbx or watch, also mentions the availability of accessories.

Portland Apple store in full every time I have visited. Remarkable when you consider
Portland downtown retail is a collection of closed storefronts

What I found is that the Apple store is well stocked. When I was shopping, I didn't notice anything out of stock there. But the local Best Buy's for example pretty much have none.

I had wanted Best Buy for the reward points, but ended up at Apple so I didn't have to wait.

Before launch, I really wanted to upgrade to the 2018 12.9” iPad Pro, but three issues stopped me from pulling the trigger, as others have mentioned.

1) Loss of optical image stabilization (OIS) on the camera. I take photos and video with my 10.5” iPad Pro and OIS makes a difference in low light.

2) Bend tests showing it’s easier to bend then the prior iPad pros. That one YouTube video showing the 2018 iPad Pro aluminum back ripple after dropping it. My son has dropped my 10.5” (in a thin case) and no bends, no damage.

3) 4GB ram and price for a 64GB $1K!

I am hoping there will be more improvements next year to warrant the upgrade from my 10.5” and not features taken away.

SAME!!!!!!!! This is pretty pathetic, Apple!

That's where I am at as well. It's been four years since I got a new iPad. I truly wanted to upgrade this year, I planned on it. I actually already sold my Air 2 to a good friend as he planned on gifting it to one of his kids for christmas. Since he's in no rush until then I am still using it, and this wait has me second guessing even buying the iPP 11 this year.
