The 6s today still blows away the competition
Maybe in an altenrate reality. Android has won over the crown for the fastest phone on the planet

. Not the same. 6s 1, iPad 3dt 0. Not that it's a bad device, just not as good as the original, if you can even find 3dt right click in an iPad. My iOS 11 5s hasn't changed in that regard except in the control center where long press emulates 3dt.
What is the purpose of 3DT?Right click menu. Does the iPad have it? Yes. So what's the point of 3DT

Try peek and pop. I use it constantly. Game over.

Only if you know about it before you "discover" it.

No need on Android as live updating widgets ensure I dont have to touch the screen

In a bizarro world android is faster. In the meantime the 6s still blows away most of the competition in speed.

Because peek and pop the very thing I use the most is not available with long press. Prove it with a video that an iPad from 2013 has long press menu to the extent of 3dt.

Doesn't invalidate my comment. You still have to know about it before discovering it.

That really depends on the metric. Opening and close apps over and over again, for sure.

It comes to to the whole package, how you use it and in my case, the speed difference of a few metrics is out weighed by the ability, or lack of, to perform certain functions or run certain software.

There's a few scenarios that I can think of where an iphone would be slower than a standard android let alone a flagship.

But in tests, the iPhone is fast, especially opening and closing apps over and over again, we all know how useful that is...

You make a valid point, when discussing Lightning fast phones, measuring minute differences in speed is like discussing how many angels can fit on the head of the pin. It does all come down to your own, personal use case.

However should one want to discuss the minute differences in speed in sure there are benchmarks galore over the Internet to proceed with such a discussion.

Nah, we both know how useful benchmarks are as a comparison to real day use :).
This thread is about the equivalent of 3D touch.

I just don't think any flagship blows the other away these days.

In the bizarre world called reality where a 400 dollar phone currently holds the title for the fastest phone on the planet

You dont need long press for peek and pop as Android has live widgets which update in realtime. Not to mention peek and pop doesnt even work on all apps from the store

Can you explain what you mean by "to the extent of 3DT"? A right click menu is a right click menu

In a bizzaro it's faster. Let's drag out the published benchmark. Safari JavaScript test or rendering tests anyone?

Of course android doesn't need 3dt, it doesn't need what it can't do.

It seems the iPhone only loses because of animatons. I would like to see reduce motion just to see if it will make a difference.

The only bad thing about reduced motion is that they’ve started to tie so many things so it that you actually have a worse experience if you use it.

Also, while we’re derailing the topic to talk about performance comparisons... can we use this topic to finally kill the myth of iOS being optimized better than Android?

Those animations are there because it takes that much time for iOS to reload the app to that state. If you turn on reduce motion it still takes he same amount of time. iOS hsows a screenshot of the app which you see as the app zooms into view whilst simultaneously its processing the app to load it which gets finished when the animation completes

Its nothing but a trick employed by Apple to fool users into thinking the app is already loaded. The OnePlus 5 was clearly the faster phone there without employing any such tricks.

It used to be optimised better in the past. iOS 6 was the last time iOS was smoother than Android. Now with Apple stagnating and Android improving both perform the same. In fact Android retains performance Over time while iOS doesn’t. My iPhone 6 now takes the same amount of time as a Moto G to open Über.

Pot calling kettle black. Just a few threads ago you were claiming about iPhones not being a spec sheet and now they are? What happened to "real world experiences"

Android doesn't need 3DT as it already has the vastly superior long press and live widgets.

ironic comment about pot and kettle. what happened to benchmarks as being real world? out with the wind? Also off-topic posting a video of the oneplus speed test in an thread about s8 and 3dt. (the s8 got largely eclipsed by the 1+in the same speed test, unlike the i7 which "lost" by a few seconds btw.)

It wasn't a myth until Android caught Apple snoozing.
Its still not a myth.

I got tired of reading posts. Therefore, I'm not sure if this was already said. Using the keyboard as a trackpad has been my favorite part of 3D Touch. I hate trying to get the cursor in the right place with the magnifying glass method.

I use this all the time and the equivalent on GBoard just simply doesn't compare in the slightest. Of all the 3D Touch enabled actions - cursor control is by far the best and most practical for me.

That being said, this thread has long since dried up of anything useful or meaningfully discussed. Now it just stands a testament to the bickering and morose side of any fora. It's more an embarrassing indictment of a subset of forum users behaviour than anything else.
