I've literally joined up as mine is exactly the same as this. I don't know whether to return it or if I'll be laughed out of the store and part of me is thinking the bend is just amplified in my head as I spent £700+ on the device and now I'm paranoid it's not perfect.

If it bothers you (and it did me) then I would take it back - when I took mine back they just asked what was the problem and checked there was an iPad in the box, but didn't inspect its somewhat curved nature. I am beginning to think that most/all have a slight curve but it bothers people to a greater or lesser extent (or some don't notice). On my replacement you really have to look straight down the edges to see any curves to the point where I believe it is as good as it gets and I have now forgotten about it.

I think you're right, I'll take it back this weekend and get a replacement.

Every iPad I've owned has had a slight inward (concave) curve to the body when looking down lengthwise. No issues at all from it. I think it's just part of the design and maybe even helps strengthen it from being bent backwards (away from screen).

You're right, I'm sure. I think I'll go to the Apple Store and compare to the twenty or so they have on display there. I'm sure this is just a manifestation my uncertainty to spending so much money in one go.

Although it's truly impossible for any device of this size and thinness to stay unbent for long, it's also the case that a perfectly flat iPad will wobble slightly if placed on a table. The curve on the 2017 iPad Pros forces the iPad to stay level on a flat surface despite the considerable camera bump.

This is how mine looks, you can see the light in the middle but not at the top or bottom. I'm not sure if I'm being too precious and this is a common thing or if it should sit flush against the table?

Mine looks straight to me but i am not going to lay it flat on a table and start looking for gaps and using a flashlight to search for an uneven beam spread across the body of the iPad. It looks fine, works fine and fits fine in my 3rd party case.

But it's still technically curved?

Mine is very slightly curved. Strangely enough, I don't notice it when holding my iPad on the side, only when looking at it from the front. It might be a reflection thing amplifying it.

I looked at my iPad Air 1 AND 2 and it's the same thing....slight curve that I hadn't noticed in YEARS until I read this forum. It must be part of the design somehow.....

No point in taking it back when the new one will be the same way and everything works so well on the 10.5 I have now.....

Adazonk, isn't this just due to the bezels at top and bottom?

The glass is slightly proud of the metal case isn't it?

As a test, can you slide a piece of paper under it?

Haha fair enough!

LOL... seriously though, every iPad that I've owned over the years has this "curve". I really think it is part of the design and is probably there to give it a bit more strength and also prevents the entire screen from touching a flat surface if placed face down. However, I've never placed my iPad screen face down without a cover on it.

I just purchased a 10.5 inch model. It had a slight curve when placed face down on a table...maybe a mm of clearance in the middle. I took it back for an exchange and to my surprise every new iPad they opened in front of me was slightly curved. They checked the floor models and every single model had the same "issue." Either this is in the design of the iPad or there is a serious manufacturing issue. The model I walked away with was better than the first but still curved. Thus do to the obvious variation of this curvature I highly doubt it's intentional. I like this iPad. Just a slightly annoying defect but it really doesn't affect device performance or usage at all. Honestly don't waist your time trying to exchange unless you're interested in an actual return.

These iPads have some serious QC problems. If you want a perfect iPad Pr, get a 9.7 or a 12.9.

What did the Apple Store employees say about it?

Interesting. Possibly intentional given the camera hump? So it'll remain flat when placed face up on a flat surface?
