Hey you all which is which attaching files but not saying which format is 🥹

15 ProMax 18.3b1
Camera

When I take a photo, in most cases any writing shows up crisp and clean. Talking about things like a document on a desktop.
However when I take a photo using a website (like vouched.id or banking), frequently the writing is blurred. This started with 18.3. Creates a mess when the software on the receiving end is trying to read the information for verification or copying to a document. Was refi-ing a vehicle for a much better rate.

The same site using my Pixel 9 Pro or S24 Ultra come out clear.

Suspect it is a camera software bug.

Additional item - Camera - photos are showing with a yellow tint in comparison to other devices and by eye. See attached. Left to Right: S24U, P9Pro, 15PM. The Pixel (middle) is pretty much what I see by eye.
During the 17.x betas it was more orange but significantly improved in 18. Now it’s back and yellow.

This is the surface of a chessboard in silver, gold, black and grey.

I think this is probably not the right thread for your question. Here we are talking specifically about ProRAW 48 quality.

As a side note though, in your example photos the S24 Ultra looks very cold/blueish and Pixel+iPhone does look more natural in white balance.

Did you consider it’s not the photo but the screen?

I have “other” issues with one of my 16 pro max iPhones. My Desert titanium iPhone doesn’t focus well on the main 48mp camera anymore. It misses focus a lot. So I got on the phone with an apple representative and explained. He connected to my iPhone remotely and and I showed photos that were blurry, and other photos that were in perfect focus using the Moment app with manual focus. He agreed with me on the issue. I then demonstrated the focus issue live while the representative could see. So I am getting an express replacement tomorrow and hopefully it will be great like my other iPhone is. I’ll keep you updated. Here are the samples I showed live. So far the iPhone has been restored to factory settings twice and the focus issue remains. I’m glad the representative didn’t ask me to drive two hours to the nearest Apple Store and arranged express shipping. Overnight shipping at that! Nice…

Default camera (These are 100% crops, roughly).

Very strange that this issue appeared out of nowhere - fingers crossed your new unit is flawless

Any news ? Hope ur problem was solved.

I got the replacement phone on December 31 and I am currently using it. It is better. I printed out the blurry photos from the other phone and included them with an explanation letter and put that in the box with the phone that I returned this morning. So far I have done multiple focus and photo testing with it and it is quite a bit better actually. I tried some night mode photography last night as well and stars are nice and sharp. The phone picks up a bunch of stars as well. Both ProRAW and HEIF look good. No complaints yet…. Using the other phone that had the issues, third-party apps didn’t really help with auto focus or improving image quality, even with using ProCam. Now third-party apps work great. I guess I will keep you guys updated. it was pretty interesting though having the Apple representative log onto my phone so I can give him a live demonstration of the focus problems. The nearest Apple Store to me is roughly 2 hours or so away so they gave me an express shipment replacement, which was shipped overnight.

Samples

The shot of the night sky was converted to black-and-white using the Stark black-and-white photographic styles filter. I didn’t like all the blue light pollution in the sky, so that’s why it’s black-and-white. The rest are other samples.

18.2.1…. Ok, I’m good!! As many of you know, I had my desert titanium iPhone 16 pro max replaced due to camera focus issues. The replacement is much improved and now with the latest iOS installed, both of my iPhones are equally great. Nice clean sharp images. Anyone else??

I do have better results since iOS 18.2 :). (Native not included !!).

ProCam with ProRaw and/or JPEG 48 enabled are unmatched. Superb quality.

Ios 18.2.1 made no difference in that regard. Maybe ios 18.3 ? 👍🏻

I gave up already with ProRaw with native camera app. I still see problems and deformities.
JPEG MAX or even HEIF MAX delivers very good results tho.

Do like I did, get an express replacement iPhone. Otherwise I hope future iOS updates help

Sure would be nice if they released Coconut Battery in the iOS app store. I'm a PC guy but use an iPhone 14. Maybe I'll go send them some feedback.

I do not have focus issues. I just prefer the clarity and the extra defenition that ProCam gives me. I have 2 units of 16PM and both delivers the exact same results in every circumstance.

Found a new bug on 15 Pro (and 16 Pro?) on 18.2 and above - there’s some random spots of blue/teal discoloration when zooming in to maximum in photos, which wasn’t there before. It’s present on 15 Pro Max and also in store on a couple of 16 PM units that I tried. Maybe related to the nighttime camera fix for blue lines on the 16 Pros?

If you take a picture of a light wooden table (like in the Apple Store) it’ll jump out a bit more. I attached a photo and it should be visible just under the clouds where it meets with the ground/houses.

ok.. Well I may start skipping launch day iPhone purchases in the future since units purchased a month or two later tend to have better QC. I feel that the iPhones made before launch day are manufactured so quickly that they tend to have issues. iPhones made slower and with more care are the units I’m interested in. I personally believe that phone manufacturers should release a new phone every two years. Or they should start having more “Wow” factor each year instead of minor updates
