hey, dont call him a fanboy
those are the guys who list every piece of apple equipment they've ever owned in their sigs

and the same goes for you. don't trash him just because YOU'VE had a good experience. im happy that your one of the lucky ones. but the point is, there ARE lots of problems with vista. Microsoft has admitted it.
and although vista doesnt look much like OSX superficially, looking at a list of what microsoft added to vista that already existed in OSX is almost hilarious. and looking at the similar apps side by side (apps that didnt exist in XP, but did in tiger)
one example is Vistas sidebar (dashboard, anyone?)
oh but wait. Vistas sidebar uses GADGETS. Dashboard uses WIDGETS

you're right. they're not similar at all

So how would you rate using intel hardware on the spectrum of hilarity?

microsoft was jealous of OS X

and be sure to watch those videos at the bottom of the first link

All that stuff other than system wide search is gimmicky. And who cares who did it first? My point is that they're both equally good OS's; not one is copying the other or one is better than the other. I can't speak for every windows vista user but I don't use search or the sidebar. I thought the links you were going to provide had something of substance like on the core level of the OS such as in the kernel or optimizing the OS to get it a little faster. Instead, all I see is pointless add-ons that hardly make one OS better than the other especially considering they now both have them.

Sorry for the double post but Organic Chem is beckoning me so I probably will not look at this thread anymore. My point, in summation, is Vista is a great OS and so is Mac OS X. It is all down to personal preference. I'll leave the arguing about which is better to the rest of you because that is an argument that will see no end.

Im new here.. but please explain to me how the Xbox 360 is a failure? About the red rings of death? I douno, deffintly not a failure

its really not a failure since it is a good gaming system that has many great titles for it, but when i brought mine to the UPS store to get fixed the lady at the desk told me they get about twenty of them a week. which would incorporate the 360 to be a failure due to how any broken systems Microsoft has on their hands.

Just to throw my opinion into the fire I believe that Mac OS X is better then Windows just because it's more intuitive and is graphically much cleaner and less busy then Windows. The reason Windows has so many wizards to do about anything is because of bad interface design which necessitates the use of wizards to complete tasks where as in OS X they are not necessary. Just look at how apps are shown to a user between the two. In Windows you have the Program Files folder where apps are installed and then you have a folder for each app with tons of files in that folder. In OS X you just have a container that contains all the hidden files for an app and is used to launch the app. Now which is simplier to most people? Sure some of you Windows fanboys might be more on the geeky side and not mind the Windows way but for the average person the Mac way is much better. Windows is only good if your a geek and know how to maintain it but a Mac is great for anyone and they don't have to be a technical person to keep it running good. Every PC I've ever seen that was used by a normal non-technical person is just a complete mess to even look at.

Of course I can't forget about that horror known as the registry. That automatically makes OS X put Windows to shame. On my work PC I try not to install to many apps because once you reach a certain threshold then system performace tends to start degrading where as on a Mac that's no worry.

Vista is good for one thing though and that is Media Center which is why I only use my PC for media center and games.

And this is why I'll never get why people argue which is better. It's like arguing over which running shoes are best for you.

What do you expect to find on a support forum? All that's going to be on there is bad things.

If you've watched the Apple support forums since day one, as I have, then you'd notice that it's gone off the chart lately with problems.

What were the numbers? 1 Million iPhones sold in 3 days?

I think you forgot the over six million previously sold, for which there was never an outcry to match the problems that people have with current OS versions, and the 3G and GPS features.

There's clearly far more than just a few people having problems.

For myself, I never had Safari crash until now. Or lose WiFi constantly. I have no doubt most will get straightened out sooner or later, but obviously there currently are issues.

CAUTION!

You have entered into the land of extreme, die-hard Apple fanboys. They will trash Microsoft for anything that they can think of, even if it makes no sense.

To sum that up, since 360 wasn't 100% perfect (I have no idea where the failure is in this, either), we all need to trash MS...

Woah! I understand now, i went to play a few games on my.. ( ironicly ) Xbox 360. And this thread grew like wildfire! Yeah i admit my 360, red ringed and had to send it in. All i had to pay is shiping.

Haha, but i just dont get it. If you prove apple is better than microsoft what have you accomplished? World peace? Haha. :D

I like apple and microsoft, kinda leaning towards apple because i love my iphone!

Not trying to offend anybody.. just puting in my 2 cents.

I have both a PC and a Mac. I use both but I prefer to use the mac. Does that mean the mac is better than the pc running xp...no. It just means the mac suits my preference.

I had the T-Mobile Dash with Windows mobile before I got the iPhone 3G. The dash never crashed, my iPhone crashed more times than I can count. Does that mean Microsoft is better than apple? No

You can't really say one is better than the other because it all depends on the user preference.

As for the XBOX 360 being a failure, I'm on my 3rd 360 in less than a year and a half. I'm pretty pissed that I've had to send it in twice, but I would take it over the PS3 any day. :)

I like WM on my HTC8125 because I could pair a bluetooth GPS receiver, and use a stand alone navigation program with turn by turn.

I wish Apple would allow this with the iphone since there are advantages to putting the gps puck on the dash for better reception.

Hated everything else WM though

My other Ipod rant is that you can't simply hook up an Ipod and copy files over as if it were a hard drive. Both my 6 year old RCA Lyra and my 1 year old 6GB Philips BOTH allow that. Apple makes you have to use Itunes.

The thing I don't understand is how Microsoft got hammered for anti-trust, when Apple is so blatantly monopolistic.

i would totally agree if we were comparing xp to tiger

but vista is too unstable and doesnt support hardware that it should
if you remove support for something thats so old theres a good chance its broken, thats one thing.
but removing support for hardware thats BRAND NEW a week before the new OS is released is just stupid and not supportive of your customers. my pc lost functionality when i went to vista, because lots of my hardware is unsupported. not so on my mac. everything works fine with leopard. and my mac is older than my pc

ill even go so far as to give you the fact that xp is a good alternative to LEOPARD. xp works. vista doesnt. don't get me wrong, i wish it did (i just love that pretty aero theme) but its just not there yet. hopefully it will be someday.
