Great choice, Larry! :) Congrats on the new machine. Looking forward to reading your thoughts.

You can forget the reading, I did a video review using the iSight, and took pics earlier, links to both can be found here.

"I'll give a 9 out of 1... no screw it I give it a 10 out of 10. Or, 9.9 out of 10 if you wanna get technical"

Hahah dude that line was awesome. Nice review

Sweeeeeeeeet review, way to think different! :) Gotta say, you same pretty damn funny, I love the rating portion. :D

"So all of you can just shut up about the stupid reflection"...

LOL. Great job. You have a good talent for impromptu iSight video review!

A bit late! But I voted white 2GHz

My girlfriend - who knows nothing about computers - said definitely white for me (I'm considering one). "Because black just looks like every other computer" whereas white is "gorgeous" and said that if I came home with a black one she'd paint it white.

I have to say the screens are great the reflection is not noticiable and the gloss on the screen is far less obtrusive compared tot he sony high gloss screens for instance, apple has got it just right with the MB screen its really bright and vivid and 13.3" is just the right size for most non power users....

I had a play around with a few MacBook's today at Apple Store Regents St, they are absolutly amazing SOOOOO fast even the ones they had out with 512mb RAM still worked great with 4-5 apps open and the one's with 1gb were lightning fast....

Here's to hoping mine is delivered by the end of the week!

Congrats Shadow, yeah the reflection is barley noticeable. One thing I noticed with mine only having 512mb so far (waiting for 2gb) is that with front row continously open took up like 97% CPU so I have to keep activity monitor open to make sure Front Row doesn't slow me down :).

Oh, one more thing this MacBook has been running for 6 hrs and I just unplugged it to use it on my LAP (to calibrate the battery) and it's not burning me and it's not as hot as my PowerBook.

Also, the screen is mucho bright, here's a picture comparison of it to my old PowerBook:

Thanks for the pics *Awesome avatar BTW* yer the screen is super bright and it just looks brighter with the glossy finish.....As for the MacBook's being hot, today at the apple store I picked up and felt about 5-6 of them white and black and none seemed very hot only a bit near the MagSafe connector, so i'm pretty sure the whole thing is overblown....(hopefully I won't get a dud:eek: )

Still using it on my lap, and the only "hot" part is near the magsafe which isn't touching my leg.

Where did you order your ram from?
Hey amacgenius I'm not sure if this question ever got answered but I was also wondering where you got your ram from. I'm planning on getting a macbook for college and would want to do a ram switch myself up to 2 gigs most likely so like he said where did you get your ram from?

I bought my 2gb kit from Data Memory Systems - it should be here in a few days.

It'd be awesome if you could give us an update on how 1.25gb feels in comparison to the full 2gb's when you recieve the kit, as I'm initially gonna put 1.25gb in there then maybe if worthwhile upgrade to 2gb....

I was in the Fifth Avenue Apple Store today, and I take back my vote for the white one.

The black one in person doesn't compare to the pictures. It's SEXAY!!!

*throws $150 in the MacBook fund*

I'm currently in the "why haven't you shipped it yet? You mean you've got other things to do than service me and me alone?" -phase of my MacBook order :D

Turns out I made a wise decision by scavenging the 2GB of memory from the local hardware store. An old school buddy works there and he beated the 2x1GB Kingston price down to 259 euros total, which sure as hell beats Apple's 499 euros.

Awesome video Larry. Haha, I love how you're like "shut up about the glossy screens" and "screw it, i give it a 10 out of 10". Congrats again on your purchase. :)

Very nice review! Ill have to do that when I get mine.

(How did you do that, what did you turn on in iMovie. I tired at the applestore but couldn't find the option)

i just picked up a white 1.83 Macbook and have played around with it for a little bit. So far, I'm very pleased!
I haven't done too much CPU intensive stuff, but the temp has been running from around 54-58 in a room at about 77F. Not bad at all. No moooing, it runs very quiet, and it's pretty snappy even with the default 512MB - I'll be upgrading in the near future.
I went ahead and bought it at the nearby Apple Store just in case mine had any problems, it would be easier to exchange, but so far it's looking good.
