So my "Upgrade to iTunes Plus" link is now back in the store, but when I click it, it says that I've already upgraded those songs. Which is it Apple? I want to upgrade, but you're not letting me! :D

Also, I thought that we could upgrade on a per-track basis? The last couple times I had upgraded songs available, it was the whole album or nothing. Odd.

In the UK you can upgrade album or Song by song and the link was always there

Calendar Sync Error

I just did this update and now when I sync my iPhone I get a calendar sync error. It says there was a problem while the iPhone was sending data.

Also, when I go to iPhone info in iTunes it shows that there is no supported calendar application. However, I'm not sure if there ever was one... I would think so because Outlook Express shows up in the sync Mail Accounts.

Anyone have this problem?

Or beter yet, anyone know how to fix it?

Also, this is a non-jailbroken phone which has never been jailbroken and it is running the latest OS version from apple

Is anybody having this issue with a Mac? I refuse to upgrade if this is an issue.

This doesn't seem feasible to me. If I understand correctly, transcoding would code a lossless track to lossy when syning to the iPod, wouldn't this take forever to sync your iPod?

It seems like you would HAVE to have 2 libraries to make sure syning with iPod isn't too time consuming.

It probably would take forever, but it would be worth it to me anyway. I don't really sync my ipod very much since I use it only for music. I put all my podcasts on my iphone and sync that regularly.

I had this same problem this morning. Plug in your iPhone and go to the info tab (iPhone sync section) and check replace calendar info on this phone with info from this computer. It worked for me.

Yeah, I think that is hype.
iTunes Plus = no DRM, 256kbps AAC, VBR, 44.1KHz. You could set this manually in previous versions of iTunes. It just means it's now set as the default - many people I've seen using iTunes don't understand the concept of changing the bitrate.
The cynic in me says it's to help sell bigger capacity iPods

that's what I thought too. thanks.

I'm trying to download iTunes 8.1 and an error keeps coming up each time. A "Digital Camera Raw Compatibility" networking error occurs (-3001). It says make sure I'm connected to the internet, but I am. What the heck?!

CNET Article - Genius Video

It's a neat and convenient feature, which is why the Internet was abuzz when it was rumored, and then Apple's iTunes 8.1 release notes confirmed, that the iTunes 8.1 update, "Adds Genius sidebar for your Movies and TV Shows."
It would be really convenient to watch a video clip in sidebar without having to enter the iTunes store home page.
But after updating to the new version, there is still no Genius button offered in the lower-right tool bar when in the library for TV or movies.
If you try choosing a TV show from within the Purchased library and click on the Genius button you get this message, "Genius sidebar only works with music. Select a song in your library to see related music."
Apple was not immediately available for comment on this problem.

Finding there is a major lag with iTunes cover flow view and two-fingered scroll. Once I start scrolling and stop it takes a few swipes to start moving again. And trying to do a slow incremental scroll is complete fail.

I only notices some minor stuttering when I interrupt or reverse a fast scroll abruptly with the mouse or by halting the fingers on the trackpad.

can anyone comment on the Windows version regarding the click lag while doing general navigation?

I'm not talking about load time. I'm talking about the time it takes when you are in your library ("music" for example) and then click on your device (iPhone). when I do this it takes up to 10 seconds to swtich to my phone view (where you see how much space you have, etc). I find myself clicking on things many times just to get to the next screen. Has this been improved with the new release?

Autofill - finally

I was just asking, not two weeks ago, about autofill for my iPhone on the :apple: support site. Thank you :apple:. It is apparent that folk's iTunes librarys are getting pretty big and unwieldy. According to the speed boost posts, it appears that :apple: is catching up to this fact.

Is anybody having this issue with a Mac? I refuse to upgrade if this is an issue.

Yes I'm having this issue as well and I'm on a Mac. I posted a page or so back. I'm not sure exactly what the issue is but it tells me it cannot sync because of a data merging issue. It also says something similar with syncing mail.

Sounds great thanks, but the changes of rates do it create a compatibility problem with hardware players ? (PS3, Media boxes)

shouldn't be a problem. VBR technology has been around for a long time for mp3 files as well as AAC. i'm sure any modern mp3/aac player can handle them.

One of my irks was corrected. I don't know if this was just me or if it happened to everybody, but on my work Windows XP machine when I wanted to search in iTunes and I clicked the 'X' to clear out the search box the cursor didn't jump into the search box. I would always start typing only to discover nothing was showing up and I had click back inside the search box then type.

Now, when I click the 'X' the cursor automatically pops into the search box so I can just start typing right away.

Also this version is MUCH faster on my (older) XP work computer. I am happy!

You still can't rent HD movies on your computer. Maybe they are concerned about piracy, but the Apple TV is a computer too.
