Marvellous everything seems a bit faster but now my 4th gen ipod nano is apparently corrupt and it won't sync... thanks apple...:(

Is it available for windows? I cant see if this is 8.1 or just 8.

It downloads as itunes64.exe tho, how long has it been 64 bit?

Edit: nevermind, i accidently downloaded the 64 bit, which of course i cant run

iTunes definitely loads the Applications, Podcasts, Playlists, and other pages very quickly. Feels a lot snappier (I never really thought it was slow before, but now it seems extremely quick).

The iTunes Store still seems extremely bloated and has way too much junk in it, but all in all iTunes feels very nice. I still wish they would strip down and clean everything out as it feels too "heavy", but it's really coming along nicely (maybe we'll see this with version 9).

warning: don't use trimmit on the new itunes. it renders it useless and will not run.

Slow effing download for me too. Guess everyone is going for it and rocking Apple's servers... lol :p

Because programmers are human, and writing the most efficient possible code is actually really quite difficult.

True, but with some of them, that is up to debate :D

Having a bad day? :p

It's a legitimate statement he made. Nearly every release Apple tries to break some of the methods people are using to expand the functionality of :apple: devices.
Read below, that is what people are worried about.

so has anyone tried to snyc their jb iphone or ipod with iTunes 8.1?

We need a better word than snappier. That is Safari's word, and starts with an S. I am now taking suggestions for words implying speed increases that start with an I (for iTunes) :D

Ummm.... I'm not really trying very hard here, but we could use iNsanely Snappy, or iSnappy or something

Cover Flow broken

Performance of Cover Flow under iTunes 8.1 is unacceptable. There is a significant lag between starting to scroll with the trackpad or mouse ball and the initiation of scrolling in the Cover Flow window. Additionally, once it actually begins scrolling, it scrolls so incredibly fast that I overshoot the album I'm trying to select every time.

The overall effect is like trying to grab your cat when he knows you're going to give him a bath.

Working fine for me so far, I haven't tried syncing anything yet. So we will see how that goes.

Yeah, the new coverflow speed is darn hard to get used to... they covers fly past so quick you can't even see them.

On the other hand, grid view is much quicker to load - that's a major nuisance fixed!

Jailbroken iPhone with latest Remote app connects fine. DJ Request mode is nice.

iTunes looks the same to me, not brighter at all. Much faster, especially switching between Applications and music folders. Itunes recognised the iPhone being plugged in quicker without showing the spinning wheel of doom first like it used to always do. Nice.

Cover flow is faster and smoother then ever - no delay from wheel movement to album movement. SMOOOTH.

So there a people out there that actually use Front Row? No, really, I thought that Apple would get rid of it soon. I find it annoying.... just like the gestures on the mouse pad.

OK anyone know how to use TV shows and movies with genius? after looking I can't figure out how to use 1 video to create a genius playlist, there's no button in the corner like with music.

Surely Genius with TV shows is just the genius sidebar (i.e. the integration with the store) - so it suggests what else you may want to buy, rather than creating a playlist. No idea - not had a chance to try it out yet.

WOW!

Incredible! It used to take several minutes to start up (100+ GB of songs and tv). NOW: 10 seconds.

Still blacks out the second monitor when in full screen mode. -_-

not happening here (fall 2006 macbook, 1.8ghz, 2gb of ram)

I kinda like it. New slogan (unless there are other suggestions. I will keep the polling open till tomorrow afternoon (5ish). For now it is, iTunes-iNsanely snappy.

Sorry, it's been a weird day and my sense of humor is getting worse (more odd?) than it was before.

Wow, after having to suffer with the bloated iTunes with my aged iMac G5, I thought nothing could make it faster.

I downloaded 8.1 and noticed a significant improvement in load times, to check how responsive it was with heavier graphics load, I clicked on CoverFlow and all the artwork loaded almost instantly, it didn't even lag while zooming around! Apple really outdid itself this time.

I'll edit this when I sync my iPod 5th Gen.

Has anyone gotten autofill to work with an ipod touch?

I checked "manage manually" and haven't noticed any autofill option. I'm going to try restoring the ipod.

If info is still displayed as 8.0.2

RESTART if it still says 8.0.2. Mine did after I updated but after restarting it changed to 8.1
