I followed the instructions but I can't get the Request feature to work for my iPhone Remote :( I can't see it :(

I am stuck at: "Tap the iTunes DJ name to join the party." Where?

iTunes Plus

Umm is it just me or is the iTunes store link for iTunes plus upgrades nowhere to be found.

If I'm just a complete moron or they moved it please correct me.

DJ Request-by Remote App

"I followed the instructions but I can't get the Request feature to work for my iPhone Remote I can't see it

Help

Check in the "Playlist" section and DJ to request :)

Itunes 8.1 (Ipod unreadable)

Marvellous everything seems a bit faster but now my 4th gen ipod nano is apparently corrupt and it won't sync... thanks apple...:(

I am having the same issue with and iPhone, iPod Touch and Nano.

all are now UNreadable in iTunes 8.1!

SOLUTION;
the update through "software update" made my iPhones and iPods unreadable.
I downloaded and installed the full iTunes 8.1 from apple's site and all is now fine.

Yeah I am in the DJ section and I don't see request. All I see is Edit and Add at the top with Shuffle then the playlist. That's all :(

And yes, I've enabled request on iTunes.

Edit: Never mind. I am dumb. I haven't updated my Remotes app yet :p

faster

I can also report that iTunes is faster. And for me that means USEABLE for the first time in a year or so. With a rather huge library and a relatively slow comp (D1.8 G5) it has been torture using iTunes. Non-stop beachball action.

I just restarted after install and everything is much quicker.

Haven't tried syncing iPods yet ....

Maybe I can wait with the purchase of a new MacPro now ... haha ... the main bottleneck for my work day has been removed ...

Obviously you have never tried to program anything reasonably complex.

I always wonder how they can get it to be "faster and more responsive".
Because some software is fat. Well that might not be to nice, the reality is there are numerous ways to skin a cat. Often the high performance ways are either difficult or need the advantage of experience with the problem domain.
I mean, it isn't hardware advancement.
Obviously not.

Most of it is in the structure of the code. Howvever the tools used to build the software can improve. Further those tools can make use of hardware that might not have been used earlier.

Now don't take this to indicate that I know what Apple did to the software. It is just that the probability is very high that they reworked some dodgey code.
- better code perhaps...if so, why wasn't it that way to in previous version

Spend two or three years of your life working on a significantly complex application and then come back and ask us.

Why would you use either? If you are importing CD's, do yourself a favor and use Apple Lossless. Its a nice step inbetween wav/aiff size and compressed. It will also take less time. Quality is outstanding.

Don't cripple yourself by turning lossless cds into aac.

My iTunes preferences did not change at all after updating to 8.1. It still shows me as importing CDs in Apple Lossless. Should I restart after downloading iTunes? Or perhaps Apple changed that from the time 8.1 was first released to now. Funny, my equalizer still works fine also.

Do all the icons (arrows up and down) look fine? Mine looks like a color square. I managed to revert to a previous iTunes 8.0.2 and it works and looks perfect.

Not sure if someone already pointed this out, but when you click the "Genius" button on a song that is unavailable for iTunes to create a Genius Playlist with, the box that tells you has an "Update Genius" button.

Not much of a huge change but still a useful touch for someone who's library is constantly updated, and also when you do update genius, it updates waaaaaaaaaaaay faster

The iTunes Store sure scrolls faster than before. Must have been a lot of unnecessary redrawing going on previously.

RE: iTunes Plus

iTunes Plus upgrade link has returned and I can access my account info again!

My jailbroken (quickPwn) EDGE iPhone syncs fine with the new iPhone. Actually, it even sysncs about 3 times as fast. First time I was asked to resolve some obsolete iCal conflicts, they were the same on iCal as on the iPhone but a month old and repeating weekly (lectures).

As someone note earlier, the iPhone's Calendar now displays calendars in the same colors as iCal. Finally.

iTunes really is faster ad snappier, high def video podcasts (geekbrief TV HD) now play instantly and there's no lag when I click on fullscreen. I used to do "show in finder" because the built-in video player was so slow and ugly.

Great Update, Apple!

Why it wasn't in the previous version?! Well, why were some of the Photoshop CS4 functions not in Photoshop CS3? Weird question
