Anyone who looks at bluray.com they closed the digital selling thread today (for only 24 hours) due to someone posting Disney codes in it. Sounds like a power hungry board to me :) kind of funny reason to close a thread for 24 hours.

So revisiting, besides bluray.com and google+, any other forums you guys use? The people that have stores seem to charge a bit much for codes if you ask me

Seriously the mod is on a super power trip. I could see punishing the newbie who posted in the wrong thread but to close the entire thread???

I don't get that rule. It's not like someone can't PM the seller and get the Disney movies or just go to another place on the internet to sell the codes.

What I wonder is this?

How do people manage to have so many iTunes movie codes of the same film for sale?

I am purchasing mission impossible 5 and ted2 on another site for $5 per movie.

Bit extreme of them to close down the thread for a day if you ask me, but it's their rules I guess.

Unless you use UV, the iTunes codes are just the same everyday.

My God

I went over there and signed up several weeks ago. I started hinting around trying to figure out how stuff worked there. It is so poorly laid out I said screw it, and just left.

It's not nearly as nice/quick/easy as the Google+ community - but you can get some GREAT deals. Almost all the codes I've bought on the Bluray forums have been $1-2 less than current selling codes on Google. I still prefer the hangouts to the private messages just because sometimes the person on the forums isn't around. But they usually send the code first which is nice.

I think more people on the forums are just normal folks that buy Blurays and don't use the codes, whereas a lot of the people on the G+ community are buying codes in bulk and using it as a business. So sometimes I feel the Bluray folks are just trying to make a few bucks on selling the codes they won't use.

I do think the Mods closing the thread was a little extreme. I was around when it opened last night and it was like a flood of new posts :D

Regardless - I'm still hooked. Up to 307 in UV.

What are your thoughts on doing the opposite? Meaning Best Buy is currently selling Ant-Man (3D Blu-ray + Blu-ray + Digital HD) Pre-Order + $5 Best Buy Rewards Coupon all for $20. Technically you're paying $15. You figure if you redeem DC+ through Amazon (and get DMA/DMR) for yourself and then sell off the actual DMA/DMR portion for $7, you're stuck with a 3D Blu-ray, regular Blu-ray, and iTunes all for $8.
So I just pre-ordered MI: Rogue Nation through Best Buy for $15 and received a CinemaNow UV code as a bonus. I sold it for $7. When I get the Blu-ray, I'll unload the UV code for $6, keep the iTunes code, and sell off the Blu-ray and DVD discs. I'll probably end up making money.

Not saying I want to go into the business of doing this since it is only worthwhile if you get a good deal on the Blu-ray and it is a bit of a hassle. But I can see why a lot of people who only care about the Blu-ray disc can benefit from selling their codes. Doesn't help those who just want a digital library as much.

Nice score. According to the BR page you might also get a Google Play copy that you could sell:

I've thought about this in some cases but I just don't want to deal with selling the Bluray and DVD. Wish I knew someone around me that collected them and we could do deals.

Nice catch!

BTW I absolutely hate Flixster. Just redeemed an HD copy of Gravity and it gave me the SD version. There's just too many WB movies that I want so I'm forced to use them.

You and me both. I bought a UK code for the James Bond collection - had to redeem in Flixster of course. All movies except Goldeneye redeemed. Fought with Flixster and UV to get it added. Flixster kept adding a copy that would go in UV, but wouldn't go to Vudu. No idea why. Finally gave up and bought a cheap code for just Goldeneye. In the end a lot of hassle!!! Did get the Bond collection for around $2.70 a movie though!

I will say, even though Flixster in the end never fixed my problem.....their support emails were pretty responsive. My initial email about it not being added was sent on a Saturday and they added the "bad" copy less than an hour later. I would at least send them an email with the code and see it they'll fix it. Can't hurt.

Lot's of people selling Gravity from Blurays on the forum today for $2 - guessing that's where you got it?

-Kevin

Interesting problem.

I have some movies in my flixster. I thought my Flixster was attached to my DMA account.

My flixster stuff isn't showing up everywhere though. I figured out I signed up for Flixster through Facebook and apparently VUDU with a regular login and password.

So how the heck do I attach my Flixster to DMA if it doesn't have a true login?

Thanks for any thoughts.

Flixster doesn't link to DMA. Flixster links to your UV library.

You can't. DMA can only be linked to iTunes, Amazon, Vudu, Google and Microsoft. Disney movies are not UV either, so they will not propagate from Vudu to other UV providers.

Flixster fixed my account and gave me the HD version and it actually transferred to Vudu which surprised the hell outta me. I'm still fighting to get my Hobbit Trilogy EE from my Flixster to Vudu. I have a sneaking suspicion that some editions may only exist on Flixster so Vudu doesn't recognize it on their end since they have a slightly different version.

Nice! One step further than what I got!

I think it's an issue with licensing for some versions. That's what Vudu was telling me. All about the ALID matching.

By the way, I'm tired of seeing so many DMA movies on all of my services. If I disconnect DMA after I did the original redemption, will I still retain the rights? For example, iTunes is my primary movie library so I watch all movies on iTunes. If I want to watch a WB movie, I'll use my Vudu library. But I don't want to scroll through 10 DMA movies in Vudu since I already have them on iTunes.

Can I disconnect DMA but still have Vudu ownership in the future?

You can disconnect - but note that Disney restricts how often you can re-connect:

About Disconnecting
You may disconnect your provider account(s) from Disney Movies Anywhere at any time. Here are some things you should know about disconnecting:
  • Waiting Period: You may only switch accounts with the same provider once every 180 days.
  • Your Existing Movies: When you disconnect a provider account, your existing movies will still be available within that disconnected account and in your Disney Movies Anywhere Collection.
  • Your Future Movies: After disconnecting, any future movies you add will only be available from the service in which you acquire them. That means, a movie acquired through a disconnected provider account will only be available in that provider and will not be available in Disney Movies Anywhere

-Kevin

So it doesn't make sense to disconnect since those movies will still be hanging around in my Vudu library. Oh well, first world problems.

I am loving getting these codes on the forums. It's nice having all of the new releases for about the cost of renting them from Redbox. I am just hoping it doesn't catch on and either drive up the prices or force them to close down the threads. :) Now all I need is for VUDU to add a apple tv app so I can watch all of my UV titles on my Apple TV.

Looks like there is no hope in me getting an Incredible Hulk 2008 code so I'm just gonna have to buy the Steelbook at my local Target (in stock and on sale for $10), loot the code, and then resell the Blu-ray and case on eBay. Based on recent bids, many went for around $10 to $20 so I'm hoping I will at worst only take a small loss (since I'm paying tax for buying and fees for selling). Beats paying $15 on iTunes.

A word of caution on buying movie codes.

I bought a few codes off people on google groups with no problems. I noticed a message on the 'scammers' section about a seller who was supposedly selling codes which were purchased fraudulently, and I think I purchased from the accused seller. There is mention of iTunes freezing accounts in similar situations.

I have no idea if my transaction was affected, or if there is any truth to the accusations. But it is kinda scary that my entire itunes account could possibly be at risk.

You know they've moved to pick one only digital copies right? I've had three in the last couple of days on new releases where you have to chose one ecosystem.
