You will love it. I actually use a mouse with the trackpad. My left hand uses the trackpad and the right uses the mouse. It can be done. It is an alternating rhythm that I have gotten use to. Since I attach my M1 Max MBP to two 27" 4K monitors, I have several heavy apps running at the same time - Photoshop, Premier Pro, sometimes Audition plus email and a web browser. I actually like the trackpad for delicate detailed movements and the mouse for the broad strokes.

You will find your new MBP is amazing and fast - enjoy!

Best machine I have ever used….ever! Chuffed to bits with the silver colour too , I was worried I’d not like it when I got it because of my love for space grey but I actually prefer this over space grey now. Really happy I got one😁

As I've never had any Macbook before I've not had anything to miss, but I understand those that have used prior models would notice it more

Touchbar Macbook pro.

Awesome! I’m helping with my neighbors do a lot of stuff and their paying me $180 a month (they don’t have to but I’ll take it) and hopefully i can buy my own MacBook Pro this year or next year! (Never owned a Mac before, just windows laptops)

Just a heads up. If anything goes wrong with it don't take it back to John Lewis. They are absolute cowboy idiots on the service and support front. I won't buy anything from them any more after a couple of really bad experiences.

Go to your nearest Apple Store instead.

Thanks to people on this forum I’ve now made a purchase of what will be my first Macbook. I was going to get the new Air M2 or even the Air M1 but as I will be doing photo editing and using it for work related purposes I got the 14” pro. Surprisingly in silver though and not space grey. I was dead set on space grey until I saw how beautiful the silver was in photos.
The better screen, nicer specs and more ports was the reason why I opted for this over anything else, plus I get 3 months of free Apple TV with John Lewis. Arrives tomorrow and I can’t wait !

I got mine from John Lewis as well :) Got a good deal on the 1TB version! Enjoy the new machine!
I see the offers/special deals from John Lewis e.g 512GB/16 but not the 1TB on special offer.

Was this in-store? How much was it reduced by? DM if you don’t want to put it on the forum.

Thank you. I’m thinking of getting the M1 MBP 14 from John Lewis myself after cancelling my M2 MBA order.

Found the old laptop I was gifted from my old job because no one wanted it. Think it originally retailed for about £200 but because of the dodgy colour and specs no one ever wanted it. I believe it had 2GB of RAM and 32GB or storage. Tonnes of ports though and even an SD slot, and it was touch screen. I think the stuff on it takes up 25 GB of the storage before you even start so you haven’t got much to play with. I remember I used it for a week or so then every time I turned it on it would just open up tab after tab automatically and after it had opened about 15 tabs it would just freeze and not even work. Probably the worst computer I’ve used……for the brief period I tried to use it. I saw the model number on the back but it keeps coming up as a HP Stream 11. Not sure if that’s the correct model though.
to clarify, the computer was and still is….. *****.
When people on Reddit say the Macbook Pro is ugly in person ( even though it’s absolutely beautiful) and to NOT buy it , I think you should all be glad it’s not purple with bright white keys.

edit - I’d like to add that I was given it brand new as well and not pre-used. Even brand new it was appalling lol

I’m also a first time Mac buyer, been using Windows PCs all my life. I went for the Silver M2 Air 10/16/512 though and absolutely love the machine.

Bonus points for David Brent.

I love my M1 MacBook Pro; still going strong after nearly 2 years. I have played with the 14 and 16 inch at the Apple Store. Near the tail end of this generation, which is about 2025, I will likely upgrade to this form factor.

Congrats! I have the 16” M1 Max, and it’s by far the best laptop I’ve ever used!
In general I’m not very good with trackpads and I always feel a lot more comfortable using a mouse rather than using the trackpad, it feels more accurate and natural for me. However I have heard good reviews about this trackpad so it’s mainly a backup just incase I don’t like using it
I usually prefer mice to touchpads, but Apple’s touchpads are my all time favorite pointing devices.
