You probably want to try searching these forums and others for the answer. Also, this isn't relevant to this thread, so if you do want to ask this question (after verifying it hasn't been asked and answered yet) you should start a separate thread.

i did do a search across the forums (and elsewhere) and have yet to stumble across the answer.

While I see your point about the relevence of my question to this thread I felt that a thread about jailbreaking the 1.1.2 iPhone, one of the benefits of which is the ability to use other 02 sims, was not taking the thread wildly off topic.

As I am new here I won't discuss this further in the thread as I wouldn't want to ruffle too many feathers so soon :)

Cheers
Stu.

Oh, no no, you didn't "ruffle my feathers," but your post won't get much visibility since this guide isn't for unlocking and isn't for UK phones. Just start a new thread, and someone will be able to help you out.

Good luck!!

I sent you a PM.

To everyone else, if you are trying this and get stuck feel free to PM or IM me, and I will try my best to help out.

I just had to do a Restore on my 1.1.2 and lost the jailbreak.

I went through the guide like I did a a little while ago. However there was something new.

I kicked started my iPhone from DFU in 1.1.1 using iPhuc and worked like a charm; however the new step I took came right after iTunes reactivated my AT&T activated iPhone. After the restart of the activation my iPhone went back to DFU.

I was *highly* surprised at this fact; however, I did not become nervous, I simply launched iPhuc again (closing iTunes of coarse) and kcked started iPhone againt out of DFU.

After the kick start everything went as a charm and my iPhone was back in the Spring Board.

= = = = = = =

I thought you should know this as a special case so that maybe you can include this as a possible case and what to do. After that I did the TIFF Jailbreak and went back to 1.1.2.

Again, nothing out of the ordinary except the double kick start from DFU

^^^

I spent about 10 hours (not continuously) working on this and I don't think there was one time I didn't have to do some step twice. You are very right. If something like this happens, you should just do what makes sense. In your case, you just needed to kick it out of DFU mode again. If all else fails, and you are worried about screwing up your phone, restore and start again.

Thanks for pointing this out!

I'm stuck, I tried the downgrade, didn't use iPhuc, Jailbreak.jar instead. Now I'm stuck at the activation screen 'SIM Locked' can't get it to unlock, can anybody help??

EDIT : Found out how, delete iTunes 7.5, install old version of iTunes (7.4.2), re-install firmware 1.1.2, delete iTunes 7.4.x, re-install iTunes 7.5, re-activate iPhone. Phew...

Yeah, people seem to miss that a lot, you aren't alone :)

So, another note Use iTunes 7.4.2 like the guides say.

I am also stuck. I'm using Windows XP

I am starting with the 1.1.2 firmware.

I uninstalled itunes 7.5 and installed 7.4.2.

I did the homebutton+lock button reset. i get the 1015 error as expected.

BUT when i click on windows.bat to run jailbreak.jar, the program pops up a dialog box with the message "waiting for reboot" or something similar. Nothing happens after that.

If i close it and run itunes again, i can get the phone working but the phone crashes on and off. When i restore to 1.1.2, the phone is stable again.

figured out this doesnt want to work over parallels so i used my roomates computer and worked great first time!!!! THANKSS!

I'm very pleased with stability, 3rd party apps, and my Summerboard is refined. Could anyone suggest why I would upgrade to 1.1.2? Seems as though it only has language advantages...

Well - Props to you then for sure. I've spent 2 days on this. Can't do anything since upgrading mine to AT&T service. Seriously - Props.

If you replace the MobileDevice folder with the one from an older version than it will work. But as far as I know, people who try this with 7.5 *usually* have problems.

well i will losse all my ringtones bc i uploded them to my iphone and deleted it from my comp thats the only reason why i wont downgrade my itunes =\

I got up to here "To kick-start the phone open iPHUC and issue the following commands (if you do not know how to use command line interfaces then you probably shouldn't be doing this!)" :)

Any tutorials on this piece? I'm on Mac Leopard.

Tried the Jailbreak again with windows this time.
And angain, stuck at Step 2a, still at the 'SIM Locked' screen, no way of getting out of it...
Tried the *#307# 'Error performing requesr SIM PIN Required'
I can't access Safari.

Should I remove my SIM PIN once I manage to reactivate my phone and try again??

Hey,
I've tried this multiple times but when i reach the point where you are supposed to click "update" on itunes after installing oktoprep on the phone i dont have the option. Itunes says "an iphone has been backed up on this computer...Set up a new phone...or...restore from last sync"
I dont know what to do

Step 1 -> Downgrade to 1.1.1
*** NOTE: This guide does not guarantee it will work 100%. Also errors 1015 is expected at the end of the process. Continue reading to understand. ***

1. Download the 1.1.1 ipsw firmware file. If the downloaded file has the extension ".zip", please remove it and modify it to end up with a filename ending in _Restore.ipsw

2. Reboot your iPhone holding the top (power) and home buttons BUT release the top button 10 seconds into it (right after the screen goes dark) and continue to hold the home button until iTunes detects the phone in recovery mode. The iPhone screen will appear to be off, but start iTunes if not started yet . ** For my phone I had to start with the phone unhooked from the computer, hold the power and home button, then when it went dark I let go of the power button (still holding the home button) and plugged it in.

3. Restore your iPhone by pressing and holding the ‘ctrl+Shift’ key on windows then clicking ‘restore’ and selecting the 1.1.1 firmware file you downloaded earlier. The restore should go through and end with error 1015, THIS IS NORMAL. Click OK and close iTunes.

hello

i haven't got very far!

i have downloaded 1.1.1. itunes has detected the phone in recovery mode. i press the open apple and press restore. but i don't know how to select the 1.1.1 file. i just get asked to agree to 1.1.2.

so could someone please tell me how i get itunes to choose 1.1.1.

thanks.

If on a mac - hold down the option key while hitting restore
on a pc - shift key

This will give you a selection from finder to choose from - then select your firmware version you want.

Well, as stated, if you aren't sure how to execute statements from a command line interface, then you probably shouldn't be trying to hack your iPhone. But, since that probably isn't a deterrent ;) just teach yourself how to use a command line interface, then you will know how to execute those commands. And since I am guessing 99% of people who read this won't bother trying to teach themselves that (I know, I have great faith in people) you just type each line character for character and hit enter at the end of each line.

As I said in the guide, I did not do this to unlock, only to jailbreak, so I can't offer any advice here. I would recommend searching the rest of this forum, the hackint0sh forums, and the rest of the internet.

You are getting this because you already activated your phone. So, this screen is normal. Just pick one... If you set it up as a new phone then you will just have to re-sync your contacts and reset your settings and all that jazz. If you select the restore then all you settings will be restored. Either option is fine. After this you will see the update button.

This is a great guide, I recently just bought my iphone, i'm in argentina right now. The only problem is that i can't seem to find a version of iphuc for the mac.
All i seem to find are tutorials on how to use it,
any assistance?
