Normally this would be easy. Unfortunately, I have a surgery scheduled January 14 and won't be allowed to run or lift for 6 weeks after. If I skip my rest day Sunday, I can get 13 of the 14 days, but that last one probably won't be possible. We'll see.

Good luck 🍀 and hope you recover. Make sure to pause your rings by tapping on the activity rings on the Activity app and then tap on Pause for 1 Month.

Well, that was definitely the fastest I've completed a monthly challenge... At first I thought the software was buggy then I realized that I needed to double my exercise ring, not my move ring! So yea, this was seriously easy. And I walked 10 miles yesterday for no reason. LOL! 😄 I hope everyone is having fun and paying attention to their actual goal! 🥳

Similar to mines but it’s 27 times for me 🫣 I got a business trip coming up and I will have to end up doing Fitness+ in the hotel room… there is no gym in there. Y’all is this a great idea? 10 mins of HIIT workout, bodyweight only. Same goes for my strength training and Mindful Cooldown, only needs a mat or towel which I will be bringing a long towel to use.
I've done HIIT while traveling, it works well.

Thanks jz, webbuzz, and goldmac. goldmac, I'll definitely pause my rings on the 14th and maybe a few days after that, but for the next 6 weeks I hope to set a new goal based on how much I'm able to walk.
Workout with modification is OK. 👌🏻 But make sure to ask your doc about it in the follow up appt or discharging from the hospital the timeframe you can return to working out. 🏋️ be on the safe side.
or, depending on your surgery, do some other workout?
🏋️ You can modify your workout by using lighter weights, refraining from too much jumping during HIIT workouts and using a chair 🪑. In Apple Fitness+, the trainer on the left side of the video does the modified exercise moves in all categories except in Time to running/walking podcast-based exercises, equipment only workouts like rowing and treadmills, and Mindful Cooldown due to it being solely stretching 🙆 out. I would recommend the two Workouts for Beginners series in the Fitness+ app to try out when your body is ready to go back to normal again. You can also try out the elderly and seniors workout program on Fitness+, it’s not just for those with advanced age, it’s also perfect for getting back into exercise after hospitalization as there’s lots of modifications on it. Additionally if you don’t have long limbs and cannot stretch far, a few yoga videos in Fitness+ has the usage of blocks which I don’t need to use since I have long arms.

The Fitness+ app has been revamped significantly since iOS 18 beta, you can also filter out search results with workouts with the modifications or easier difficulty that you need or based on suggestions from your doctor. 🧑‍⚕️ You can search up yoga exercises that are not on the floor, strength training exercises without any weights on it and seated exercises. Try it out on your iPhone. If you need to refill your trials, and did not recently buy a new iPhone or Apple Watch, you can get a code from Target or Best Buy website. If the code does not work, Apple Support can issue you a code that works. I got over 6-7 months of fitness + for free with this method.

I never paused by activity rings for medical reasons but I have did it before when I go on the plane for almost the entire day and travel. It will not break your move streak, the steps collected will be there for training load changes.

Thanks for the advice. I have them planned for the trip. Now I don’t have to worry about not getting the monthly challenge done! I’ll be semi-sedentary for my job though; I have to fix up robotic rovers and program things for nasa. I get to sightsee in my destination and not just sit in an office.

Good luck! I'm putting off double-hernia surgery until after snow-shoveling season, so probably mid-March (hoping that any snow that comes after that will melt fast). The Dr. said I could wait with no restrictions.

goldmac: You can modify your workout by using lighter weights, refraining from too much jumping during HIIT workouts and using a chair 🪑.

Here's what I got from the surgery center:
1. Limit your activities for a full 6 weeks after your operation.
2. Avoid all exercise other than walking.
3. Do not lift anything heavier than approximately 20 pounds.

So, I'm thinking I'm limited to walking. :D
