Did it. Paused my rings only once due to the long bus ride back home from work during my business trip. At least I worked it quite well to finish it.

I won't get my 22 walking workout goal this month - I've done 11 this month, though I have run 97 miles so far this month, while on vacation for 18 days, so I'm ok with that.

I did get this badge while I was away last week though.

Hey, at least you managed to get the move goals record in! I hope you can finish the monthly challenge next month.

By the way, did your accommodation have a gym for guests? I was sent on a business trip to San Diego and my company had us stay in a tiny old hotel that didn’t have a fitness center. So, I had to get creative and bring a yoga towel to do HIIT, bodyweight strength training, and stretching exercises in my room. @Mackilroy , it worked surprisingly well! I even used the small empty area in my room to lay out my towel mat and do yoga in my room! Even HIIT that’s mostly standing only.

Yes, it was a large resort, multiple buildings, with a gym in one building that had a fee to use on a weekly basis. I didn't need the gym though - I did outdoor workouts, 5 runs a week and 2 walks a week while I was there. Plus my normal 15 minute stretching and bodyweight exercises I did in the room.

The 22 walking workout goal is probably based on my routine where I have been slowly adding running distance each month and using walk workouts to finish the distance I would normally run - for example, today I ran 5.75 miles and walked 0.5-ish miles to finish a 10k. While I was away I didn't want to take that much time out of the day so I did workouts of 45-60 minutes depending on the day, so no extra walking after my runs.

I don’t usually use the gyms in fancy hotels, especially the ones in big cities like Vegas. They charge extra for the gym, so I usually just go for a walk or do some bodyweight exercises in my room. I bring a yoga towel to use as a portable mat. I had to do the same thing with you to get the activity challenge done, but since I only have a short time in my room, mostly in the evening after work, I do Fitness+ videos in my room. I wash the towel in the shower to get rid of any shoe marks. Did you bring a travel mat or a big towel for yoga too? I also recommend getting a MagSafe stand or ring to prop up your iPhone so you can play workout videos. If you’re bringing a journal or books for a business trip, that can also help you lift the screen higher.

By the way, there’s a public access park at my workplace that everyone can use. I took a 30-minute walk with my colleagues on my last shift before the big presentation.

Thank you! I thought it would take more miles walking than it did, but it turns out that walking at 5% incline burns about the same calories as running. Recovery is proceeding as projected, but I really miss running.
Once the doctor gives you the green light, get back on your running routine. You can jog around the treadmill or take a walk around the block if you feel up to it.

They have these useless liners at the foot of the bed that are the exact width of a yoga mat. Folded a couple of times and I was able to use it as a mat, of sorts. It was better than the tile floor.

Internet on the island was terrible (Wifi kept going up and down, and mobile data wasn't much better) so I didn't even try using Fitness+ while I was there.

I’m glad I brought my own multipurpose yoga towel. I usually only use it for taking pictures of Apple products, but it’s actually really useful for traveling. It’s so big, but it folds up so small that it’s easy to carry. When I was researching the hotel NASA booked for our company trip, I found out that it’s an older, small hotel that only the rooms were renovated. So, I had to bring my towel with me. The room I stayed in for three nights during the business trip only had a decorative pillow on the sheets, no runners, and no spare linens. The internet is free, and they give you an access code to all guests, even if you’re there for a business trip. Cell service was great even in the outskirts of San Diego, but when I stayed at a different hotel in Vegas, I had some issues with the internet. I had to download my meditations when I was outside of the hotel and in better cell reception.

Another month in the books!

Congrats to everyone on finishing these challenges! This month is especially impressive since you’ve completed three of them. By the way, a new Apple Watch user started a thread yesterday morning for the February challenge: https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/february-2025-activity-challenge.2448419/

Let’s all give it our all and crush this short month! It’s also a great time for me, so I’m excited to join in!
