Where does it say that it will ship today?
Edit: Well, mine has been saying an estimated date of today. I don't really believe it until it ships. Don't trust anyone's inventory system.

I know with UPS you can select the option to tell the driver to leave your package without a signature, assuming you take full responsibility of the package of course.
Cool, bought one for me and one as a holiday present. I was planning on showing up to the apple store tomorrow but hopefully mine actually arrive tomorrow instead. Seems crazy I can order now and they'll get here before 10:30am tomorrow, so we'll see.
I ordered two at 8:11 pm AZ (MT) Time. Paid the $12.99 for next day shipping. The confirmation email said they should arrive on 12/20. My credit card was charged at 8:23 pm. So it looks like it really is going to happen.

It says they're out of stock on the search page but I was able to place an order and it's expected to deliver Thursday, 12/22. I guess we'll see if that actually happens!
I just ordered as well w/a 12/22 ship date. I'll be working from home that day... I'm not hopeful (yet), but if they can beat Apple at this point, heck, I'll take it.

Agreed, if they don't come by 12/22 then I will try to go to Apple on the 23 and stand in line.
Verizon wireless hasn't let me down yet. Even when apple didn't have any Verizon iPhone 7 pluses in stock vzw came through and i got it way before apple was showing on their website.
Thanks OP, I missed out this morning and placed an order. It appears Apple has plenty of stock unlike the Apple Pencil last yr

Same here! Tracking says it's been picked up and scheduled delivery is for tomorrow by 8pm!
