This. The amount of valuable info on the MacMost channel is amazing. If you can’t figure out how to do something or can’t find a feature that you think should be available on macOS this channel is a great place to start.
I’d consider myself to more or less be a “power” user and I learn something I never knew from almost every one of Gary’s videos. It really is excellent.

I like Al Dente to limit the max battery charge to 80%. Mine spends a lot of time plugged in.

I also like iStat Menus. Can put a lot of useful info in the top menu bar.

Another app I like a lot is BBEdit for text editing. It's sort of the Mac equivalent of NotePad++

Apparently, people like Sublime Text for text editing as well. I've never tried it but here's a comparison / list.
Have you personally compared BBEdit to the built in Text Edit?

Are you assuming that I haven't? Does the built in text editor compare two files side-by-side for differences?
No need to get defensive, I didn’t mean to trigger any sort of emotional response, I was just genuinely curious what people, you in this case, do with a text editor that the default app on Mac doesn’t account for. I didn’t assume anything I was just wondering what text edit can’t do that you like BBEdit better for :) personally I just use text edit for some note keeping that includes fonts, sizes or colors that I either can’t use Notes for or don’t want Pages for because it’s more cumbersome and a simple text file on my desktop is more useful than a pages document.

btw I agree on Al Dente and iStat, use them both myself and with an Intel MacBook custom fan rules are really handy, together with a great inside into system stats but that’s besides the point

Its like someone saying they like Photoshop, and you asking them if they've directly compared it to MS Paint.

Of course I'm aware there's a default text editor. And it's just as bare bones as Notepad on Windows.

If it isn't already obvious to you why people need more features in a text editor, I'd say don't worry about it. Keep using the built-in.

Arc--use this instead of Chrome, its 1000000% better, I promise.
I have heard a lot of people like this browser. Safari recently had a big update with Sonoma and I fell in love with profiles and tab groups to keep my browsing clean. Can Arc do this too?

THank you for this. this will be a godsend.

Is there something similar for iPhone?
Paste App (pasteapp.io) really is the best clipboard utility out there. It syncs over iCloud between your Apple devices. It has beautiful UI and UX that feels at home with Apple’s aesthetic. You can save your own reference clips and organize them and search them if you often reference certain things in your work. It’s really useful, and the iPhone App has a custom keyboard you can add that gives similar functionality, though not as streamlined.

That being said, it’s $29.99/yr which is kinda bonkers. When I first bought it, it was $9.99 one time purchase, then at some point they forced us early adopters onto a $9.99/yr plan that left a bad taste in my mouth because it refused to continue to work unless you upgraded, and it wasn’t even one of those things like “now it won’t work on a new version of macOS” it just stopped entirely. But at least I’m on the grandfathered plan for a third of the price. They’ve barely added anything to the app since then, even though they claimed the recurring revenue model was for new feature development.

It’s still fairly basic but so freaking useful. I use it a hundred times per day at least for web design and development and copying code snippets and blank code templates and various server commands. It even formats things differently based on content like previews or hex colors show up as solid color blocks making for quick and easy reference and I’ll pin things like that for different projects. Probably worth the price if you find yourself researching a lot copying different things for lawyerly duties or referencing case law, statutes, etc (I used to work for a law school designing and building their websites once upon a time, lol, so I’m somewhat familiar).
