I had a PowerBook G4 since January '05 - Around the 2.5 year mark the HDD died and right around the 3 year mark the keyboard started to go. The problem was I never really noticed since 92% of the time I had it hooked up on a stand to an external keyboard, mouse, harddrive, and at one point a second monitor.

Once the 3yr Apple Care was up and I couldnt use my laptop as a laptop unless I had the external keyboard, and with the announcement of Snow Leopard and the discontinued OS support for PCCs I said eff it and started looking for a new computer while I could still get SOMETHING for my PowerBook.

I ended up deciding on getting a 24in iMac 3.06Ghz processor, 2GB RAM, and whatever the highest video card offered was - basically the highest iMac possible.

My iPod Touch basically serves as a laptop and anything I dont wanna do on that I just wait until I'm home and do it on my iMac. The only thing I miss is being able to video edit anywhere since I could take it to work and get stuff done.

PS If Apple were ever to come out with a netbook device, all they would have to do is offer a keyboard for the iPhone or iPT, and this netbook craze would be OVER.
