Wow people are so mean on this board god forbid someone does not like their beloved iphones...

OP thanks for sharing your input, I however welcome reading cons and pros.

I returned my Note 7 and went with an iPhone 6S Plus for similar reasons. I do like the feel of the new home button, and the matte black is sexy.

The screen looked fine to me at the store. I'm not sure about the button. It will take some time to get used to it. Performance is something people will not notice because there aren't anything that pushes this chip. So yeah the 6s should be good enough for most folks. Kind of bummer though scrolling app history is still low FPS with this powerful of chip.

Yeah man, I'm back on the 6S and couldn't be happier. It feels smoother and faster. The artificial lag introduced on the 7 when you return to the home screen is completely unnecessary and random. That one can be fixed in software though so maybe itll get better.

Thank you for this thread. I didn't know whether I wanted to keep my iPhone 6s Plus or upgrade to the 7 or 7 Plus (wasn't sure if I wanted the 7 so I could one-hand text again).

I went to the Apple Store to have my fiancé's 6s Plus replaced and I had the opportunity to try out the 7 and 7 Plus while I waited.

I tried out the new home "button." It's weird and definitely a difference from my 6s Plus but I'm sure it's something I would get used to. But performance and speed wise, it's the exact same as my current 6s Plus. The battery in the 7 Plus is only 150 mAh bigger than the 6s Plus, so I'm sure battery life won't be noticeably better.

So, in my opinion, if someone has last year's iPhone, it's not worth the upgrade or going through the hassle of selling the old iPhone to get the new one and to spend $200 on top of that. The memory increase is nice along with the water resistance, but I don't find the need to upgrade since I never have issues dropping my phone in water. Based on EverythingApplePro's water drop test of the 6s Plus, I'm assuming it would survive a drop in the toilet or what not. But, who knows. I'm not going to test it. Lol.

This iPhone is not a huge upgrade. I would have skipped but I ended up giving my iPhones to my parents and went for it. The biggest reason I would return it is because (for me) this is the first year I am paying $1000 for a phone. Previously with subsidies, I would only pay around $500. At the same time, subsidies are long gone, so it's time to pay full price for devices. I might as well get used to it.

can you point to a statement saying in black and white that the screens will have warmer colors? THe wider gamut should not impact overall tint of the screen.

BTW heres a nice article on the iphone 5 when it came out. Notice anything? And yet, most people ended up with clear iphone 5's. Weird. Notice the glue myth is strong in this one (and still false).

Go rewatch the keynote. Phil specifically stated they will have a warmer look.

The display 7's I saw had clear screens. Which is par for the course.

I'll bet you $100 that in 2 months clear screens are back. I have 7 years of track record backing this up.

The OP gives valid arguments for his personal situation and instead of whining about it and putting down the money, he actually returned the item and sticks to what works more comfortable.

That people then come in and have to judge the OP and jump on him for doing so, is indeed silly - to say the least. I think it's fair game, it's the Internet. But it says more about those posters than it does about the OP.

For those reasons you mentioned, I didn't upgrade right now. I didn't put down the full amount just to get it and then compromise the way I use my phone right now. There's indeed a small bump on some features. But it's not like I go from a 5mp to 12mp camera. I will go from a OIS 12mp camera to.. the same one with tiny bit newer tech that I won't notice.

The yellow screen is a matter of just returning it and getting a good version. If they refuse to do so, then we get our money. Plain and simple.

The other arguments like gloves etc simply depends on your situation. Must suck if you ride a bike and wear gloves and can use the 6s+ but the 7+ no longer works in your favour. I can imagine that being a reason in that case.

If you jump on someone, at least be considerate of the person and come with some constructive feedback instead of just showing why we hate youtube comments.

Phil stated they will be warmer. It's really that simple. My 7 is slightly warmer than my launch day 6s which was slightly warmer than my iPhone 6. My iPhone 6 was a little too blue. I have zero problem with a slightly yellow screen. It's more natural looking.

Heres the keynote. Not one mention of warmer colors. The gamut was mentioned, and that gamut is whats driving the line on the cinema standard. None of this means yellow tint. I'm sorry but this argument comes up every year. Its never been right, it'll never be right. If they switch to OLED next year we might be past this IPS initial yellow screen issue, but TBD.

I compared the screen on my 7 to that of my wife'a 6s and there was a pretty noticeable difference. My 7 had a much cooler color temperature. This was a nice surprise since hers always looked so much bluer and brighter than my 6s I traded in.

As far as the button requiring skin, as the previous poster mentioned if I'm using my phone I'm either going to have my gloves off to begin with or I'll be using touchscreen gloves so not really an issue.

I don't judge OP or anybody else for choosing not to jump on this upgrade. I even considered keeping my 6s but getting the 7 lowered my IUP payment so I figured what the hell.

Awesome! You hit the panel lottery and got one of the blue, clear screens! More of these screens will come along in the next few months. Would love a shot of your 7 next to wifes on the settings screen.

To everyone else: Proof this isnt intentional!

I have a 7 Plus on order but the new iOS 10 really does make my current 6s Plus like a new phone with a whole new user experience. The 6s Plus and 7 Plus are both really great phones, the software is amazing.

You will see the evidence of what you convinced yourself to be true.

Actually I've collected the evidence over a period of 7 years, emailed back and forth with Tim Cook in the past about it, and spoken with Apple Executive relations! Pretty good due diligence I'd say!

After just 18 hours and 2 different iPhone 7's I have just returned the 7 and gone back to the 6S.

As of right now, the 7 is not a superior phone to the 6S in my opinion, for the following reasons:

-Yellow screens. This is a problem every year when they change the display. The good screens will come back in a few months. I think this has something to do with the manufacturing process of IPS displays. A residue is deposited for the first few million. In a month or so, the clear blue screens will return. This isn't glue, intentional, more correct, or any other BS reason we hear every year. Its a defect of the manufacturing process. 2 iPhone 7's I got both had vastly inferior screens to my 6S, even after color profile/tint correction. Contrast, clarity, and brightness all worse than the 6S.

-No noticeable speed increases. I put the phones next to each other and tried my hardest to make the 7 run faster. It didn't. In some cases web pages loaded faster on the 6S. Plus the intentional delay after clicking the home button that was introduced in the 7 makes it feel slower and laggier.

-Marginal at best camera improvements

-Weird home button that doesn't work unless pressed with bare skin (no more gloves).

-Legitimate concerns about the lack of sapphire (lower quality materials)

And for all this what do you get in return?

-No headphone jack.

No thanks, Apple

Wise decision, in my case I always wait for the issues to be solved first but in this case honestly I won't upgrade, not a game changer phone.

Let's be honest here...coming from a 6s, the 7 doesn't have much to offer aside from storage bump and the better camera. Better sound is nice but no one is honestly going to say that made the difference.

People upgrading from 6/+ (and earlier) were the target group for this year.

Nothing surprising if more people return the phones (if they upgraded from 6s).

I may get another 7 when the good screens return, but you're kidding yourself if you think the screens shipping right now are in any way better than the 6S. These are the same low quality launch screens that ship every year. I've seen these screens a thousand times, on my 3GS, my 4S, my 5, my 5S, etc. My 6 and 6S were fine (though many got bad 6 screens, I got lucky that year I guess), but now we are back to bad launch screens. Sad.

my screen is fine. Enjoy your 6s
