I bought three iPhone 7's over the past 24 hours. All three had damage/dings/scratches out of the box. Ended up getting a refund. Total bummer.

Settings > Accessibility > Home Button > Rest Finger to Open.

Turn this on, and instead of clicking home button twice to unlock, you can click once and then keep your finger on the home button for it to read your fingerprint and unlock, like it did under iOS 9.

This has nothing to do with the home button delay on iphone 7 when you press the home button to return to the home screen while in an app. Theres a slight delay on the 7.

Got the 7 today. 128gb MB. Had an issue with restore from backup at first. Did not want to work. Managed to get it to work through iTunes.

Zero hiss/noise from back of screen. Checked several times during restore.
Screen is bright, brighter than the 6s that resides in my house.
Very fast and smooth.
Got warm during restore, cooled off as soon as restore done.
Tested the video and it worked great. No white/background noise and the mic worked great

Overall very satisfied, except for the initial restore issue.

I know this will sound shallow but I upgraded mostly due to aesthetic. Love the matte black and the fact that those antennas on the back are not visible.
But I agree that we are all a bit crazy for paying this prices on a smartphone. I paid 1400$ canadians for the 7 plus 128GB and the leather case. I could of purchased a brand new sealed in box Macbook pro 13 from a retail store on kijiji for 1350$.
It's not a question of having the money or not having the money, the problem is that nowadays smartphones are priced similiar to laptops and that is absurd.
The ipad pro is bigger with better battery life and a better screen and it's much cheaper then an iphone. You can't tell me that it costs Apple more money to produce the iphone? How do you justify spending so much more for the iphone 7 even if you are a billionaire?
Is it the portability factor?

i see it as a pocket computer and so i am not that worried about the price. it's my main machine for like everything on the go.

FFS...

Yes, it's the portability factor!

Why oh why do people insist on thinking that smaller = cheaper? This has never been the case with tech.

I took mine back on day 13 and I've been back to my 6s since....,the only thing I'm missing is the black colour!!

when I went into the Apple Store and told them I wanted to return it they looked surprised...,,I told them it wasn't worth the £350 upgrade and one of the guys came out with "but it's waterproof"........until I asked him if the warranty covers water damage....he said it doesn't so I suggested they stop telling people it is waterproof if it isn't "guaranteed" to be.........he had no response to this

This is a good review. Thank you for posting it. My observations agree with yours entirely.

Video sums it up nicely why I'm returning it. I'm not broke like he says, but it is a 'want' vs a 'need'.

Great video.

I agree. I had the 6+ and I like it better. 6 feels better in the hand, thinner, lighter better balanced I think.

Agree.

The 6S slays the i6

Have to disagree. It's all in what's important to you. Personally, I like the thinner, lighter 6 Plus model. It's better balanced. 3D Touch is stuuuupid, and I resent having to carry a heavier, thicker phone because of it.

I love the excuses for returning the 7/7+ and "sticking" with the 6S/6S+ models.

Oh it's thinner. (Yeah right)
It feels better in the hand. (Lol... What)
It's not as heavy. (Pleeeeeease)
I prefer the older home button. (Yeah okay).

The REAL reason is that many of you didn't want to fork over $850 for a device that is very similar to the previous gen model. That is perfectly fine and understandable but be upfront about it and stop pretending that it's about anything else but that. Now enjoy your older iPhone.

Ridiculous video that was posted here. People who call Apple a cult in the first place to excuse the silly consumer behaviour that some people exhibit are just entertainment at this stage.

I don't think they want the 7 to feel slower than the 6s.

It's funny. People compare the speed of the 7 to the 6S and say they're the same.

Last night I had the 6 Plus (not 6S) right next to the 7 Plus, with Flipboard open on each. Guess which one opened news stories faster? Yup: 6 Plus.

Just goes to show this so-called massive upgrade in speed of the A10 chip is way overblown, depending upon your use case.

Ignorance just gets worse and worse every year.

Make no changes? People bitch that there wasn't enough changed to warrant a new device at full price.
Make changes people don't like? They still bitch.

Load a complex website on both devices in Safari. Something that is really congested, like foxnews.com. I guarantee your iPhone 6 Plus won't keep up with the iPhone 7 Plus.

You run one app side by side, and you jump to conclusions. Opening an app depends on the read/write speed of the storage in the phone, and AFAIK, there have been no advancements in technology of the storage in the iPhone 7 Plus. They both have flash storage memory for storage space. Once the app is fully loaded into volatile memory (the RAM), then the RAM and the CPU work together with each other to process the app.

But that initial loading period? That's all on the RAM.

Just because you saw a "clearer" (read blue) color somewhere else is merely just a reflection of the lighting where you were looking.

This is not true. Last night I had 3 iPhone 7 Plus units side-by-side in the same lighting with the same display settings. All had different shades of yellow. One was very yellow, one slightly, and one tended toward blue.

Have you considered that app developers have yet to optimize their apps to run efficiently on the new A10 chip on the iPhone 7 and 7 plus? Sometimes it takes a while for developers to get their apps updated for the new hardware.

I could agree to that for a game that needs graphics performance but not for opening a news app.

When I upgraded my computer's processor to an i7, everything was faster immediately. I didn't have to wait for any developers to "optimize" their software.

Why is the processor in the iPhone different?

The 7 has its advantages while it's no major hardware update.
But we all new this before we purchased the 7
