No, “Bendgate” is not exclusive to the iPhone 6 Plus; Samsung’s new Galaxy Note 4 — its first phablet to sport a metal chassis — will bend just as easily if you’re not careful with it.

As expected, it will bend just as easily as the 6 Plus if you put a similar amount of effort into it — and unlike the Note 3, it won’t spring back into shape.

Anyone with a droplet of braincells can guess that anything made of metal has a tendency to bend and remain bent when sufficient pressure is applied. The latest Note 4 that is made out of metal and can get deformed similary, BUT no one is talking about it, and it's not being reposted in 5000 forums and the social media, it's not being criticized for it's structural integrity, no... They now say it bends because it's made of a metal frame, of course it can bend !!! Why did they not say the same thing about the 6+ when the bendgate issue originated here ? Or are we just quickly to criticize apple and leave out the competitors to make a mock of it ?

You can continue the discussion at reddit : http://www.reddit.com/r/apple/comments/2ip3ta/bendgates_latest_victim_samsungs_new_galaxy_note_4/

____

Just to add, since when do we bend phones to test them out in reviews ?? Why is this a thing now ? This whole thing is stupid, along with the videos, bendgate, and this post.

Its successor is mostly plastic, too, but it is the first Note device with a metal frame. Obviously we’ve all been itching to find out just how durable that frame is, and how it compares to the 6 Plus’s all-aluminum chassis so after enjoying the Note 4 for a week, Hilsenteger finally began bending it

WHY !!!???!

Maybe because the iPhone bends with far less force required? Either way you look at it the note 4 is MUCH more resistant to bends/cracks than the iPhone 6.

Thanks for showing us that the Note 4 is 500,000x more durable than the iPhone 6 Plus.

Because the 6 Plus has been reported to bend from normal use, i.e. just from keeping it in the pocket without doing anything special. So far there are reports that debunk this proposition, and there are reports that confirm it. So the general public doesn't really know. Hence, it is of interest to test if this is a general risk with new smartphones.

WHY !!!???!
Because the Note 4 is the biggest direct competitor to the 6 Plus.

It's really no mystery why these tests are being done. Whether the basis for the underlying assumption is sound is of course another matter. Personally I have to say that I just don't know. I've seen reports by long standing Macrumors posters - i.e. not your typical registered-today trolls - that claim that their 6 Plus has bent from normal use and no particular accidents or anything of that sort. Now why would someone who has been using the forum for years and isn't in any way an Apple hater claim that their phone has bent?

Given that the device costs about 10k dollars where I live, I choose to approach a potential purchase with caution. And possibly play it safe i.e. wait until next year when the chassis is bound to have been strengthened whether Apple admits it or not.

Meanwhile, I don't find "bend testing" the N4 to be totally pointless.

Sorry guys I've not been able to watch the vid because of my crappy connection, does it really show that the N4 is harder to bend? The article linked to says it bent just as easily as the 6 Plus.

The video makes the iPhone 6 Plus look fragile. And the article contradicts what the person in the video says.

I'm sure naturally it doesn't
A bit like the iPhone 6 Plus really. The Note and iPhone bend when in the hands of this guy or when somebody sits on them no doubt, but having known people with the Plus, none of them have bent in normal/natural situations yet.

I think the Plus has been getting a lot of ribbing on here over the last 2 weeks and its always fun to see a point proven. The Note 4 doesn't bend quite as savagely as the iPhone as demonstrated here, but it does bend to a degree and a bend is a bend. You'd take it back regardless, I know I would if I felt I hadn't done it deliberately, I may even tell a porky pie or two lol. Soft metal like aluminium bends and sooner rather than later we will accept that this is a hazard of buying a particular product with these characteristics. Just take better care I say :)

I'm quite tired of the whole bending issue to be honest. At the end of the day if it bends I would go to my carrier and get a new one and haggle to get money off my contract

Sorted..

This is why we have insurance

Here are people....Apple fans mind you reporting issues with their IP6 here on MacRumors. So you don't have to go far to find them. You just have to look....
These are just the ones I took 3 minutes to find. They didn't make the news or headlines...... There are more than is being reported. Apple fans do not want to make Apple look bad so are discreet.

I made fun of all the hoopla surrounding Bendgate. Then my iPhone 6 Plus bent :/

Did you see the other threads about bending? The other issues were thrown in to illustrate that all issues get reported to the media. They get reported on forums all over the world. The issue gets socialized.....then its gets reported to the media. By that time their are more than just a couple of isolated incidents. Ever go to the Apple support forums? Want to hear about more bending going on?

The Note4 is not even out yet. Why would any potential bending of it be discussed until it gets into a large # of users hands/pockets...

Bob Villa just called.....

Bob just called and confirmed that even a Sears Craftsman screwdriver will bend too.

Put this thread to bed already. I think it's been proven that the IP6+ is more delicate than the Note Series but it too will bend if forced. Just not nearly as easily as the iPhone.
