Realistically, I haven't heard any Android reviewer or enthusiast call out the iPhone for bending. The general consensus is "Why don't you take better care of your devices?"

Bob just called and confirmed that even a Sears Craftsman screwdriver will bend too.

Put this thread to bed already. I think it's been proven that the IP6+ is more delicate than the Note Series but it too will bend if forced. Just not nearly as easily as the iPhone.

Agreed....... this thread could be closed.....

Because the 6 Plus has been reported to bend from normal use, i.e. just from keeping it in the pocket without doing anything special. So far there are reports that debunk this proposition, and there are reports that confirm it. So the general public doesn't really know. Hence, it is of interest to test if this is a general risk with new smartphones.

Are there really verifiable reports that peoples' 6+s just bent in their pockets?

All the tests I've seen would seem to indicate that around 70-90lbs of force is needed to bend an iPhone 6/6+.....no one's pocket (I don't care how tight your jeans are) exerts that much force.

Unless of course you are doing something extra....

I completely understand and agree - the 6+ bends. It's even easier to bend that competitors and predecessors.

But I do not and will not believe for a second the 6+ bends just from being in someone's pocket.

Yea so we have #gap gate and bendgate.

I think the note is definitely better than the iPhone as it has two gates and the iPhone only has one.

Samsung and a lot of anti Apple/Galaxy fans did make fun of the iPhone for "bending" so this is kinda ironic (and maybe bad karma?) that the same issue is happening to the Note 4. With that being said, this entire "bend gate" thing is beyond stupid.

I've had my phone since launch day, and the thing is still straight as an arrow. I put my phone in my pants pocket (btw anybody who says that a phone isn't suppose to go in your pocket should seriously slap themselves) and still no issues. Dude at my job also has a 6+ with no case and his phone is also straight. Hell, tbh I've yet to see an iPhone 6 or 6+ that's bent. Working in the cell phone department, I see iPhones everyday. Whether I'm selling one, putting on a shield for a customer, ect...and I've still yet to actually see a bent iPhone. Some idiot makes a YouTube video, the **** goes viral now everybody is in a panic? Now you got people with iPhone 5S's that are paranoid that their phone is gonna bend. Yet, a year ago that wasn't the case. Come the **** on, people. Stop feeding into this ********. The fact that you have people who are going out of their way to bend these phones and then are like "omg, it bends" is ridiculously stupid. You have people going to Apple stores and purposely trying to bend the phones. And I wouldn't be surprised if you get people going to best buy just to try and bend the Note 4. IMO the Note 4 and iPhone 6 and 6+ are great products.

Take care of your phone, use a case and screen protector and guess what? No bends, dents or scratches, regardless of the manufacturer. I've been using mobile phones for 20 years, and barring a factory defect, I've never had an issue.

Maybe I'm using to much common sense?

Oh that is most certainly what is happening here. Such wild and dangerous thinking has no place here.

#IOS8Gate you know where bricks are made.....
#iCloudgate..

We could be here a while....

For such a self-proclaimed unbiased poster, you sure spend a lot of time harping on these things.....

Oh wait, that's right. You have me on ignore because I disagree with you.

How very fair and unbiased of you.

OP you do understand that the issue regarding bending has to do with how easy the iPhone 6 bends. So it's not an issue that it bends at all. Everything will bend with enough force. But the guy in the video is pointing out how easy the iPhone 6 bends. In fact the consumer reports test show that it's the weakest of the phones out there. But to make things worse, you can't bend the iPhone back without cracking the screen. But the guy was able to bend the Note 4 back with no issues. He actually had to even use more force to bend it in the first place.

Nope!

CR tests indicate the M8 to be the weakest....

I think what people are missing here, including all the people who test these phones for how much they bend is real world use. It's one thing to apply a very large amount of force with both hands within a short period, but other than maybe forcefully sitting on the phone with it in the back pocket how does this simulate real world use?

I suspect the issue with bending is with back and forth constant bending over a period of time which heats up the phone through friction and causes it to weaken over time. For example, put a phablet in your front pocket and then get into your car. You will notice the top of the phablet contacts your anterior hip, which puts some pressure on the phone, how much depends on the pants, user, weight, etc etc. As that person drives, shifts his foot constantly from gas to brake, adjusts himself, hits bumps, etc that phone may slightly bend then unbend constantly. I'd be curious what that does to a phone MUCH more than simply having a large weight unrealistically applied over a short period.

It's going to be very interesting to see how many complaints there are from people who have bent their Note 4's compared to iPhone 6's.
