I have not cast a vote since I don't own it, but I would like to follow along and hear opinions. What I will add though, is that I find the wired, Apple-extended keyboard a tiny bit nicer than my 2014MBP's keyboard as per the less wobbly keys, and slightly larger travel distance. Also the extra function keys that I've programmed - but that's a whole other discussion

Bought a 13'' tbMBP in December to replace my 2012 rMBP ... Considering that i don't like the keyboard of the 12'' MB I was quite skeptical at first ... But after 4 months of usage I absolutely adore the keyboard ! The size of the keys, their "clickiness" and even their sound make typing a pleasure !

One of my favourite features of this laptop !

It's ok, however it is noisy and you do have to press the keys a little harder to get them to register compared to the last one. Backlight is better on the new one but much prefer the original keyboard that I had in my late 2013 pro

I much prefer the design of the new keyboard to the old. I thought it was a little "clicky" at first, but that has mellowed with use and I prefer the action of the keys better on the new one. Just my .2

Well, I didn't vote. I don't own MBP 2016 anymore, but had it for almost 2 weeks. Returned it due to keyboard issues. But there isn't an option for me to vote. I LOVE the keyboard. I really do. Own the MB12 as well, and simply love butterfly keyboards. Weird at first, but once I got used to it, I really loved it. Better then the last gen for sure.

But the problem is quality. I get keys stucked. Some are behaving differently then others. And I hoped that butterfly 2.0 would solve that issue (also an issue on MB), but since it didn't, I have returned MBP.

I will buy next gen, but only if they fix quality issues.

As an owner, it's okay. The quality on mine is top notch, but I mistype every once in a while. I prefer the old keyboard, but it's not bad enough that I would trade it back. I appreciate everything else about the 2016 model.

Love it. I've had the laptop for a couple of months now. In that time I've had to write one longer paper, and really had no trouble during the time spent writing. No issues with keys malfunctioning or anything like that.

Granted, there was a learning curve when I first got the laptop, but now, having adapted to the new keyboard, it's faster and not that much louder than the old one. Also the backlighting is more to my liking.

I don't get the hate for the new butterfly keyboards. They're so much more comfortable to type on and the lack of key travel actually has positive effects on my productivity by helping me type faster. :)

I own a new 13-inch MBP w/ TB. It's just another keyboard. I don't particularly love or hate it. It works well for me. No high pitch or double-type so far. It does feel different than the keyboard of my old late-2013 MBP, but it's not the kind of difference that bothers me.

Did you try a replacement? Or did the first leave you a bit gunshy? It does seem some folks have had issues, such as yours, with the keyboard. Which is a shame, because when they work well, they really are pleasant, imho. Luckily, I have not had any issues with mine, knock on wood.

Yea, one more replacement, but after just two days spacebar got stuck. Managed to get it working (compressed air), but then gave up... Didn't want to wait for the same thing to happen again.

My first MB 2015 keyboard gave up 3 times. I have MB 2016 version now, and have to clean the keyboard regulary, but it's not that bad.

Planing on purchasing MBP when they fix that issue. I have some other wishes of course, but if the keyboard isn't fixed, everything else doesn't matter at all :(

What software are you using for that?

System Preferences and Final Cut Pro X's shortcut programmer.
System Preferences lets you pick all sorts of behaviours for the keys. cmd+F14 for instance encodes the currently selected file from the Finder, so I just click on a file, cmd+F14, and BAM, there are the encode options. Or cmd+F15 and there's a Terminal window ready for use. Also useful in apps like Pages. F4 picks a body text type. F5 picks Header 3. F 13-19 picks things like Caption styles, coloured styles, etc.

Mostly useful for Final Cut and Motion though.

Coming from a mid-2014 15" MBP & 2015 12" MacBook, I loved the 15" 2016 MBP keyboard, as soon as I started typing on it.
A great upgrade from the 1st gen keyboard found on the MB, and just a better experience then the prior 2016 MBP keyboards in my opinion.
It is a little louder then any other keyboard, however, but I am ok with that.

I'm not in love with laptop keyboards in general, but I feel this is the best there is. The trade-off on long travel is out-weighted by the precise feedback and high tolerances on the edges (no more light bleed). Mushy is the popular description for every other laptop keyboard. This thing is firm and clicky! Yeah, there is an adjustment period, a day for me, but after this thing is fast and precise. I definitely adapted the way I type. Less travel in the keys means I don't punch as hard. As a result, the sound is quieter now. I didn't have a problem with the loudness before, but I definitely heard it. Now it's fast and silent like a ninja. This is coming from a guy who still prefers old school clickers. Since I can't get one in a laptop in this millennium, this is a surprisingly good alternative.

Edit: BTW, I voted "Like".

I like the keyboard. It's quiet and solid feeling. I like it, but I don't love it. The stroke is a tiny bit too short, it is taking some getting used to. I can type very fast on it though, I would say it is definitely growing on me.

As a programmer, I type a lot, coming from rMBP late 2013 and MB 2016, I like tbMBP keyboard. It gives me nice feeling but I wouldn't give it a love it status just because I have another keyboard that I love in mind and the tbMBP has not exceed that yet really close I would say.

I would say like to say that I can love it. I find I can type quicker with the reduced travel. However, I have had a "sticky" H key that started playing up after 5 days of owning the machine, it intermittently sticks for an hour or two, then is fine fir a few days then does it again. Planing on seeing about replacement it it keeps up.

Sadly, this doesn't seem too unusual, Some folks are reporting issues with the keyboard, hopefully this resolves without needing to getting the keyboard replaced. Good luck

Best thin keyboard I've used..although it somewhat feels better on 13" one for my hand than 15" one. Probably the huge trackpad made me try too hard avoiding the trackpad. I only used 13" for ~2 weeks (not mine).
Like the keyboard clicks feedback...

There's no option for "It's an upgrade, I like it", so I voted for I like it.

I prefer this new keyboard over the old one. The old one feels mushy to me now.

EDIT: I do hate the arrow keys. I don't know why Apple decided to make them physically uniform, now I can't use them blindly.

Like it fine. Agree with others that say the old one feels mushy now when I have to go back to use it.

Honestly I love it, it has a nice "solid" feel that the old keyboards didn't have (they felt more mushy to me). I have a very light touch so the clacking isn't an issue, and I don't rest my hands on the keyboard so the travel nor the weight is an issue either. It feels like it was made for my style of typing specifically.

I have zero complaints.
