It was fun but I’m getting rid of my Keychrons and picking up the
Touch ID MKB for home (and an
MS Surface KB for WfH). Partly because keyboard mods are a black hole that was pulling me in

Mostly because, no matter the switches, plates, gaskets, etc. you try, Cherry-style switches will never ever come close to the amazing-ness of buckling springs.
Don’t get me wrong, Keychrons are great… I was thinking about upgrading to K8 Pro and K10 Pro, or even the Q3 and Q6. I was shopping barebones keyboards, switches, key caps… The black hole got a lot bigger the more I browsed Keychron’s web site!
I’ve asked Unicomp to pretty please (1) bring back the Mac version of the Model M Spacesaver and (2) make a Mac version of the Model M Mini (essentially a TKL Model M, originally the IBM SSK). As soon as those become available, those will be my “forever” keyboards.

Until then, I’ll make do with scissor-switch keyboards. Those are in my iPad MKB and work laptop anyway, so at least I’m now consistent.
