I'm always fascinated how people who did not know Steve Jobs, were not close to anyone who had insight into the internal workings of Steve Jobs and know nothing of the decision making processes that Steve Jobs undertook during his professional life can make statements with such utter assuredness about what he would definitely do or not do 13 years after his death about a product he never encountered or likely even imagined.
Did you?

Not by my reckoning, & much of the public, which is what I was referring to.

If the public was expecting blockbuster sales then they simply did not understand the product. No major informed source expected iPhone like sales.

It’s too easy for anyone to voice their opinion which means you get ALOT of the general public.

Let ‘em have their fun, the fact of the matter is the rest of us know how it works with new product categories.

“Reports suggest”

Apparently you weren’t alive in the early days of iPhone when “reports” would always suggest Apple is doomed and that the next “iPhone killer” is around the corner.

Using rumored gossiping slop to try to prove a point is not the flex you think it is my man

Especially considering this report:

To be precise, nobody including Meta ever succeeded in AR/VR/MR markets so far which only proves why Apple is failing. Hate to admit the fact?

The AR/VR market is niche by nature. Niche doesn’t mean dead. It means apple came out with a device for a special subset of the market called “early adopters” to build out the foundation of a future mainstream product. Nobody in apple thought AVP was going to sell in iPhone numbers. And it was never supposed to

And yet, you didnt answer my question: Tell me who succeeded in AR/VR consumer markets? If it's niche for consumer market then you know what I'm talking about. Making expensive and useless devices for a niche consumer market is already a huge failure.

I do however think Apple thought it would sell a reasonable amount for its price and crucially maintain consumer interest. You might not be able to afford it but you wanted it and was an exciting piece of technology you would hope to own one day.

The reality is barely anyone is interested anymore.

How about we all wait and hold our breath for another couple of weeks (guessing) and see just how confident and upbeat Apple are at their next event.

They must show off the new vastly more powerful M5 Vision Pro, probably with a new head strap.
This will allow them to talk in detail about all the new abilities (quality/speed/tracking/scanning) that the M5 power will allow to take place.

Also give the general public a good chance to see all the software enhancements and apps that are now possible with the Vision Pro and how much more the future is going to bring.

This is Apple's first time to push and show off the product in any meaningful way since it's initial launch, and Apple will give us a good indication (based upon how well they show the product off) as so what it's future holds.

It's basically down to Apple to stoke the Fire of Vision Pro and impress us all with the new hardware.
So let's wait, and see what they say.

Indeed.....

Firstly I'm very much a fan of VR headsets and what they can offer people in virtual experiences.
It's a shame they are currently so bulky, but hey, it is what it is.

But yes.....

Personally I have to say that this silent upgrade does tell us what Apple is thinking about it's product.
As I said in my previous post. THIS was the time for Apple to show off all the improvements that have been made with the Vision Pro since it's first public showing.
Lots has changed from day 1, and if you don't follow tech you'd never know these things.

To me, this pretty much confirms without question that there has been a big turn around in how Apple views this product. Unlike the launch, they now have no intention of this being a consumer product for normal people.

It's a Dev Kit for future hardware AR and VR.
Those who are "Into" the product, and the few devs, will of course buy it, and enjoy the large power/performance boost which will aid the future of head mounted computing from Apple.

But given Apple being silent about such an upgrade and not even taking the opportunity to "show it off" I'm sorry to say, tells us how Apple now see's the product.

:(

Just to add.....

I do very very much look forward to improved AR/VR products from ANY company that can move us all forward with this category.

It's certainly going to be an interesting end of 2025.
We have the Samsung/Google headset coming out in literally just a few weeks now, and perhaps we may see the long awaited next headset from Valve.

Both products that (dare I say it) are more exciting than the Vision Pro upgrade right now.
The Valve one being more for fans of VR and the Samsung/Google one being more of a dev's product as a first step on the alternative to Vision Pro for non Apple users.

So we do have things happening to keep us interested :)

I just want to play Half life Alyx without getting a PC. I just want to buy one package that is extremely powerful. I hope Valve can sell a modern headset with a box that is extremely powerful.

That’s the dream. That we could just have one device that does everything. All computing. Everything we need AND be the size of either glasses or lightweight goggles. I’m confident we’ll get there but I wouldn’t be surprised if we’re a good 5-10 years from that

M5 Apple Vision Pro
- 100~150g more heavier than M2 version.
- No trade-in accepted.
- No improvements.

What a shame.
The added weight is intentional as they added counter balancing to the new strap, for better comfort.

The M5 chip adds performance and efficiency.

So the improvements are:
- better comfort
- faster performance
- sharper resolution (due to M5 rendering more pixels faster)
- longer battery life

I think it’s solid updates especially when you remember the Vision Pro officially only came out last year in February. I think people feel like it’s been out for 3 years or something and it’s stagnating like AirPods Max or something. Nope. The iOS updates and this update have been pretty solid. It’s just gonna take time. The “vision air” product people are looking for is probably a couple years away at minimum

Isn’t the apple vision air rumoured to be announced in 2027? I’m not sure about the release cycle of the Apple Vision Pro. It looks like a yearly thing. I sure hope so!

It's definitely not "no improvements".
Also forgot to mention the updated VP has higher refresh rate due to the M5 chip. I believe 120Hz now.
