Kuo: Apple Better Off Taking 25% Tariff Hit Than Move iPhone Production to US

This is an extortion scam by Trump pure and simple. Let me break it down for you all. Trump cares about two things...money and Attention. Thats it. Trump will say anythiing to get attention and get elected which sadly worked. Now that hes back in office, he used and conned all of his followers to get what he wants, he doesn't give a single care in the world about them, they served their purpose, and now he's going to use the power of the presidency to grift anyone and everyone he can to enrich himself, including Apple.

Do you really think for a single moment trump cares if we all have to pay more for iphones? Nope. Because to trump, you deserve to suffer because your not rich like him!

Oh you cant afford rent, food and medical care? Why arent you rich like me? Oh you want to buy an iphone for a reasonable price? Tough, be richer! Oh your a big company that makes billions of dollars...i want some of it!

Seriously thats all this guy cares about. You could be burning to death in front of him and im sure he would charge you to piss on you to put out the fire!

The guy has no shame, morals, values, integrity or even common sense and is going to grift the entire world if he can!

Get a grip. You just explained EVERY politician.

Also inflation of all of life’s essentials started in 2022….. But don’t let facts get in the way of your emotions and more importantly the price of your beloved iPhone!

Trump folded. China didn't do a damn thing except wait.

Their economy can outwait ours, because the world isn't tariffing China, the US is tariffing China. The US is important in China and the worlds economy, but not essential.

To say this is to fundamentally misunderstand how Trump’s mind works. If 25% isn’t enough the tariff will be increased until the manufacturing is relocated. He’s not reasonable or negotiating.

Except there is no possible way for Apple to actually move all the manufacturing to the states. There isn’t the infrastructure and definitely not enough skilled workers. This president is hurting education when he should be trying to boost it as well is extremely anti-union. We need quality well paying jobs with safe work conditions not low labor intensive ones. Ironically prior generations of factory workers sent their kids to college to keep them from having to do the type of labor they did.

Apple is the biggest and possibly the only US based phone manufacturer, I understand why Trump would like to have them building iPhones in the US. What gets me is how he thinks that Apple can just start building iPhones in the US tomorrow. Instead of blackmailing Apple, Trump should start discussing what the administration can do to help Apple bring iPhone manufacturing to the US in the long term, tax breaks, education partnerships etc. but that would make sense…

It doesn't require skilled workers. It requires trained operators to push buttons and ferry materials to and from the robotics.

The iPhone isn't built with robots currently, and it won't be in the near (several years) future, either.

Who builds said robots and retools them yearly? Who does their maintenance? Who produces the parts fed to said robots?

If you want a laugh, china has a big hammer. Embargo tantalum and the US stops dead. Meme stock tech companies tank, economic collapse in days.

People have only used economic instruments rather than tangible resources so far.

Globalised economies only go down together. It’s mutually assured destruction.

That’s something that actually would benefit Americans it’s never happening. He is actively trying to destroy the education system.

They have to be designed to be assembled by robots. And then you have to design and tool specific robots. This is extremely expensive as there is no possibility of a robot as cheap and as flexible and as scalable as a human.
