I finally had time to test Latebloom over the past 24 hours, not ready yet to post a full report but will do as soon as I get a sense of (better) success. Currently testing a previous (left dormant) 11.4 test upgrade on my second nmve blade, system is as vanilla as possible, only nmve pci card and one SSD 2.5 with OC. I have very recently updated Martis’s OC to 0.7.1.

I have two quick question at this time:

1) Booting cold/warm has been very good bordeline excellent at this time (200/20/1). But I only had Bluetooth showing up and functional 2 out of 15 boots. Very surprised by this. Not many pointed out this issue in this thread so far, I believe there was only one report of BT issues. Any thoughts on that? Maybe an 11.4 issue? I will be upgrading to 11.5.1 today, so will see whether than changes anything with BT.

2) @Macschrauber — I attempted to use your script app to get detailed report, I can get the first two confirmations of Latebloom successfully hooked etc, but once I am asked and I attempt to copy to clipboard, the app becomes unresponsive and I need to force quit the app. Not sure what I‘m doing wrong, if there’s any suggestion to get the app to work fully ai would appreciate. Did use @startergo terminal code too, and always get confirmation of successful hook etc.

thanks all for your help, and immense/infinite thank yous to @Syncretic !

Do you have that problem when booting Big Sur after you've been using Mojave or High Sierra? It is a known fact, automatically corrected after one more boot into Big Sur. Other than that, my BT always works.

yes I am aware of the issue and experience it from Mojave to Big Sur, and it always resolves after a warm boot in 11.2.3 and BT consistently shows up and works after every warm/cold boot from 11.2.3. But with 11.4/OC 0.7.1/Latebloom the warm boot workaround does not work the majority of the time (2 out of 15). Will keep testing, we’ll see. I have the BT 4.2 flavor of the Wifi/BT card, not sure if that’s part of it… most have the BT 4.0 here…

I have the same problem with Bluetooth, but only in Monterey! Have you tried Monterey? I do not know if it is because of Latebloom.

No, unless that is an issue in Monterey, that's not it. I have a BCM943602CDP Wi-Fi/Bluetooth module and it works just fine.

Just to remember everyone, Apple will almost certainly remove 11.2.3 from the download servers with the release of 11.5, so if you still don't have it, the time to download is right now.

Today Apple made the full installer for BigSur 11.5.1 (20G80) available:

Btw, 11.2.3 is now deprecated.

Good to know. I don’t have access to Monterey betas so have not tested that. Will try and revert OC back to 0.6.9 and see if that has any impact with 11.4. and BT.

Just installed 11.5.1 with my default latebloom settings. Once 11.5.1 was installed, I encountered a boot hang upon booting to 11.5.1. Install was flawless. I just did a few warmboots and coldboots. All good to go.

[/USER] !

basically the Script uses the CLI App system_profiler with some settings and filters thru grep.

It needs some time, say 10 to 20 seconds.

if you type in terminal

Code:
system_profiler SPHardwareDataType -detailLevel mini
system_profiler SPSoftwareDataType -detailLevel mini | grep -e System -e Kernel
system_profiler SPNetworkDataType -detailLevel mini | grep -e Network: -e Hardware: -e Type: -e 'Service Order:' system_profiler SPAirPortDataType -detailLevel mini | grep -e Wi-Fi: -e Card -e Firmware
system_profiler SPStorageDataType | grep -e Storage: -e Protocol: -e Internal: -e System: -e 'BSD Name:' -e system_profiler SPParallelATADataType -detailLevel mini | grep Protocol
system_profiler SPSerialATADataType -detailLevel basic | grep -e Express: -e Physical -e 'BSD Name' -e 'File System' -e Content
system_profiler SPPCIDataType -detailLevel mini | grep -e PCI: -e Name -e Type: -e Bus: -e Slot:system_profiler SPNVMeDataType | grep -v -e Serial -e UUID
system_profiler SPUSBDataType -detailLevel mini | grep -e Product -e Speed -e Location -e HUB: -e USB
system_profiler SPBluetoothDataType | grep -e Bluetooth: -e Supported: -e Manufacturer: -e Firmware: -e Device: -e Connected:
system_profiler SPMemoryDataType -detailLevel mini | grep -e Memory: -e Size: -e Type: -e Speed:

does it freezes also?

If so there's nothing I can do about.

Those are the commands for fetching the system information (aside some other things)

just updated to 11.5.1 same settings as 11.5 upgrade 150,20,1
first boot crashed out with AppleUSBHostPort::disconnect: persistent enumeration failure
needed a cord pull, and all subsequent boots after that were successful

My Bluetooth don't work with OC 0.7.1... no way... I must to downgrade to OC 0.6.9 and working again without any fail... works like a charm.
Not my case at all, so your problem probably has more to do with your particular config.plist than with OC itself, in whatever version.

Using my 4.1 patched to 5.1 with latebloom values 100/20
No problems so far. Just doing the upgrade to 11.5.1 now

Not my case at all, so your problem probably has more to do with your particular config.plist than with OC itself, in whatever version.

I tested 11.4 and 11.5.1 with OC 0.6.9/Latebloom and had the same problem with BT, it showed up only a few times (about 2-3 times out of 20 boots for each OS). I agree with @PeterHolbrook that it must be some issue with the confg.plist and 11.4+, given that with 11.2.3 my BT works flawlessly with both OC/Latebloom 0.6.9 and 0.7.1. I will move this issue to the general cMP OC thread to see if I can get some suggestions there on how to try to fix this, it‘s starting to be OT now that Latebloom is most likely not the problem.

On the Latebloom front, still excellent cold/warm success rate so far. I have to say my warm boot rate is almost perfect, rarely do I get a hang. The upgrade to 11.5.1 went rather fine, had 2 hangs perhaps because of the high Latebloom values I had (250/20/1). I have decreased values since.

Not ready to submit a full report yet as I’m still testing, but once I do I will include a log of boots for both 11.4 and 11.5.1.

EDIT: Added OC and Latebloom to first line for clarification.

My updating process from 11.5 to 11.5.1 has been much harder than the 11.2.3 to 11.5.
I have suffered more than 10 failures, including two "forbidden signs". After installing Latebloom I have never seen a forbidden sign before.
I am now stable after first successful reboot.
It is a good idea to be patient with the updating processes specially if you have both full SATA and PCIe slots.
Thanks everyone.

The BS 11.5.1 update went quite well. Just three reboots and running. Latebloom parameters: 15/1/1. Remember this is on a 7200 rpm spinner.

EDIT: My "success" (not my merit), other than the prodigy of latebloom itself, is probably due to the method I use: Extract all disks from the SATA bays, leaving only the one I'm installing Big Sur 11.3+ on (which happens to be the one where OpenCore is installed). After arriving at the Desktop for the first time, the disks can be safely reinserted. In my experience, warm boots will succeed (they've always worked for me so far).

I see my ¨handycap¨ (and my demerit) -explaining my high rate of failure updating- is that my Big Sur is in one NVMEe, PCIe Socket 2. Next time I will extract all the SATA disks except the nr 2, which includes my EFI Opencore. Thanks

EDIT: Nevertheless after big suffering fighting with the update (both my MacPro and me), after rebooting, Big Sur 11.5.1 starts and runs very smoothly because of Latebloom.

Using my 4.1 patched to 5.1 with latebloom values 100/20
No problems so far. Just doing the upgrade to 11.5.1 now
edit: Just updated to 11.5.1 without issues. Just a normal install without getting stuck

Installing 11.5.1 went, more or less, as expected. The install hung once at the first reboot but after that it proceeded normally. The values during install were, latebloom=15; lb_range=5; lb_debug=1. Once completed, those were changed to 400, 50 and 1 respectively. During the install the only drive inside my Mac Pro was the target ssd and all other (external) drives were disconnected. One thing I noticed which could also be a coincidence. Cold booting with one of the external drives on (connected via USB 2), ended up in a hang. Booting again with it off, completed without a hitch. Now, in fear of data corruption, all my data drives are in external enclosures and off with the exception of a spinner carrying Mojave in data bay 4. However, this one does not mount on boot as it has a "noauto" entry in /etc/fstab.
