Wow what a struggle with 11.6 but now Monterey is perfect

Update from 11.2.3 > 11.5.2 went fairly well, thanks to latebloom, a few forced reboots and then it was super stable. Update from 11.5.2 to 11.6 was a catastrophe. I tried everything, OCLP, Martin’s, different latebloom settings, pcie-SSD, normal bays, stripped my computer from everything but the drive, even different 5.1 CMPs (6C, 12C). After 2 days I finally came to the desktop once (see attached latebloom check) but not again. Monterey updates via system update also always failed. So I decided upon a leap of faith and made a Monterey Beta 6 clean install with OCLP: Installed a Fenvi BCM94360CD Bluetooth/WLAN pcie-card using these instructions, created a Monterey Test SSD (USB installer as described in OCLP is also possible), put my main 2TB SSD into bay 1, formatted it with Monterey disk utility (to be sure to have the latest APFS version) and installed Monterey. Went super easy, only one forced shutdown and cold boot at the last boot. Then migrated all my data back from a CCC backup via migration assistant. After everything ran well in bay 1, I put the 2TB system-SSD back onto my AccelsiorS pcie card and everything runs super smoothly since then for a week now. Warm boots don’t work (maybe I’ll try to tweak my latebloom settings but I can also live with that), cold boots are 100% reliable and system is perfectly stable. Won’t go back to Big Sur. Attached are both my last Big Sur 11.6 and current Monterey 12B6 latebloom checks. Also works on my second 6C CMP 5.1 and on my 6.1 MBAir

This is my happiest drive-by post yet:

I have identified the race condition, and a fix will be forthcoming soon.

Please be patient! As always, time is not my friend. I will write up the details as soon as I can, and I'll post the fix as soon as there is one (it's a bit tricky). However, I am highly confident that we'll soon be able to retire latebloom permanently. It may take me another week or two to wrap this up, but barring any unforeseen circumstances (like discovering that there's a second race condition in play ), the solution is on its way...

Great news and thank you (and others) again for your work on this solution among others that help us keep our Macs as long as possible. Between Open Core (and many of my systems needed Latebloom) and the older Dos Dude patchers we've now extended the life of 32 Macs that would otherwise all too soon be retired from service at our school. That's an entire classroom of students your efforts have directly helped at our school alone.

Thank you for spending your time to identify this! I’m sure that there are many others to thank in advance!

let me know if there is any testing that needs done, I have an available 5,1 ready to go!

Even though I’ve had a lot of success with Latebloom, I am super excited about the prospect of a true fix! Everyone who works on these workarounds and fixes is an absolute legend. Much kudos to you, sirs and ladies.

Just when I got my parameters tuned for high reliability! :)
I do appreciate your work. This is pretty tricky reverse engineering. I have worked on KEXTs in the past, they are HARD to debug.
