Do you guys here experience weird application crashes with these post 11.2.3 Big Sur versions? We are discussing this issue for a while on various channels right now. First a single app crashes and cannot be restarted, than all other open ones follow quickly and at the very end even the Finder crashes without return. Using sudo purge within a terminal or via ssh remote login solves this problem for some users, I could confirm this at least once (yesterday). Otherwise one has to reboot the system.

Some users report it happens (after a while) on every boot into Big Sur (post 11.2.3).
I can confirm as mentioned to this post that crashes are gone after installing OCLP 0.2.5 ! Yeah!

(I hope that it's permanent cause I testing it only for 3 days.)

Latebloom v2.2, OCLP v0.2.5 Nightly Build, BS 11.6:
I am noticing that i have way to many lockups booting in 11.6 than with 11.5.2...
Anyone else having problems?
P.S. I tried many LB settings.
Thanks
I'm in the same boat. What's really frustrating is it's so inconsistent boot to boot. It'll hang at different points and even hang on cold boots sometimes.

Admittedly, latebloom is not a blanket solution that will automatically solve all booting issues of BS 11.3+ on old hardware. However, once it has been fine-tuned for each individual cMP 5,1, it is fairly consistent in achieving reliable boots. Without it, you would get consistent failures on unsupported Macs. With it, you can get a very high rate of success once you've found the right settings for your hardware.

I agree with you I have made a configuration with OCLP 0 2 5 then put all the file in OC 073 then I use 11.6 I have tested on a Sata SSD and Now on a Nvme Highpoint 7101A

Is there something close to a "rule of thumb" as to the "right settings"? I tried latebloom and for a brief time I had continuous successful (cold) boots then all of a sudden it begun to fail. I read other people success but the hardware conf is different to mine with my two X5650 processors and the inateck usb3 (FL1100) pcie card. next week I will try 11.6 but I am not very hopeful.

Read the first two posts. You may well find a user's profile that's close to your specification. If so, follow it.

yes, that's the reason for the thread (and the reason I made the latebloom check script).

Find someone's settings what are close to your Mac specs and try in that range.

The first two posts, which I have read, do not cover the latest latebloom. A lot has changed.
That's irrelevant. It works exactly the same, although both phases would be equal. The latest versions of latebloom simply let you set a different delay for the second phase, but it will behave exactly like the earlier versions of latebloom if you don't specify anything for phase 2, or if you duplicate your two first phase parameters as the last two parameters of latebloom.

Thanks. Just one question, is it advisable for the delay in the first set to be smaller than that in the second?

I'm no expert. I use lbloom=15,1,1,10,1, but my setup is not truly typical. Most users have considerably longer delays. My second-phase delays are shorter than first-phase delays, but I'm not sure if there's a foolproof rule to determine which parameters are most likely to yield a better result.

Just updated to Big Sur 11.6. I only had to cold boot once after the first restart.
