That's....a take.

How much underbaked garbage has Google put out and then killed when it starts to rot?

...far more than Apple. I was an Android user for 4 years but came back to the iPhone because the user experience is just night and day beyond what Google offers. Plus their Pixel hardware (not the features, the actual build, fit, and finish) just got worse and worse and worse generation to generation.

Sadly that's generally where this AI stuff is at right now. Underbaked. Its just a repackaging of a few impractical whiz-bang things called AI and marketed as such because its the hot tech buzzword right now.
I was using iPhone until 4 and had been an Android user for a long while. Came back to iPhone 12 because of Social Media apps which go deep into android system. Certain things (important) were much better in Android environment. I do hate call management. Either I have to delete all at once or one by one. So, finally I bought an extra Android phone only to handle social media

I watched he Google I/O Keynote! Google announced that they take all of your documents and data and send it to their Google Cloud servers to be stored and cached so that their AI model can use it! Oh, hell no!

"Android has been designed with AI at its core, and Gemini is a foundational part of the Android experience that works at the system level. There is an AI powered search bar that can be used for answering queries and looking up information, and the Circle to Search feature can be used for solving math and physics problems or getting homework help as of today."

And all that 'off-device' processing gives amazing data that can be exploited for marketing.

I hope Apple doesn't bake it into everything. I don't want an AI between me and the information/data I'm looking for. Way too much hallucination and bias in the models. At least it sounds like they're targeting on-device processing, which is vastly better.

Apple is still trying to run the company as they have always done. Total control over the employees. On the other hand Google is giving freedom so that developers can come up with new ideas. I am not saying that everything what Google does is good. But iPhone sells well because of loyal customers. Many years ago iOS was known for the simplicity and ease of use. But now Android has made many people content creators. With free Apps which come with the mobile, Anybody can edit photos and videos and upload in Social Media.
Google's problem is the have zero vision of what they want to be as a company, so they flail all over the place trying a slew of new things that eventually get abandoned.

This could the end of the iPhone …

Why?

Features like „Circle to Search“ need a deeeeeeeep integration into the OS and a search engine in the background that is again tightly coupled with the AI assistant.

Many of the shown features do exist basically in Google Lens and other Google services, so what we see are many existing Google components integrated with Gemini and Android.

Your turn, Apple. Invent or die …

Apple is not doomed! Apple is laughing at Google! I bet Google wishes they did not kill Google Glass now!

It’s funny because Apple is so far behind these features it’s hilarious.

iOS is literally fisher price OS compared to Android with AI.

Photos search, circle to search, Gemini assistant etc are utterly amazing and nothing iOS has right now compares.

But hey, we’re getting another button!
Well yes and no. There would make no sense for Apple to follow Google if Google is going in the wrong direction.

Apple's WWDC Developer conference is in June buddy! I watched Google's I/O Keynote today! Most of the features Google announced today are vaporware and do not launch until June anyway!

You've been able to do that on both platforms for many years. It's purely subjective which one is better. Some started with one or the other and stick with it, others move between both, some have a workflow or feature set that one OS handles better than the other.

The reason why there's so many content creators is because of the ease with which you can do it, I wouldn't say either platform has a distinct advantage, they both do plenty, its all subjective after that.

probably this the reason why Google kills more projects/products than any other company.
they have been trying to create a competitor for iMessages, they tried like 4 different apps.

As long as AI stays out of android open source project (AOSP) builds, it's all good. You can have android without Google; AOSP with MicroG.
Custom ROM is your friend. LineageOS is popular. I use ArrowOS on account of liking barebone OS without the bloat. My battery and processor thanks me for it.
