The Ryan London arrived here today and I surprised how much I like it.
Will probably stay.
I also got The Pitaka case, which is also very nice but it's not leather. But it has direct access to the keys and is nice and slim. On the other hand, the rim is smaller, so the screen touches the table. Still, I'm torn between the two.

I just patina’d my brand new Aulumu case by using MagSafe. It seems the FineWoven cases have paint wearing off on the MagSafe. Now I can buy a new one for 60 USD.

Does that case really have a cpu vent? I have never seen that!
I would think a vegan leather case would be significantly cheaper than the full grain leather options.

Well, it happened and it also doesn’t get out. I have been even rubbing it with alcohol. It faded, but still is visible.

I decided to buy the same case again and use USB charging next time. :)
 
@DennisdeWit Is that little indentation below and to the left of the cameras a design thing or from bumping it on something? The two small circles / indentations by the line look intentional but that one looks out of place.
 
I'd try a dedicated leather or vinyl cleaner. Alcohol will work in come cases (pun not intended) but a dedicated cleaner may work better. You can also try a mix of 50/50 water and white vinegar. I'd avoid using a magic sponge because that'll remove the protective coating on the surface of the material. If you haven't already do a search for cleaning white leather.

I use Geist leather care products to clean and maintain car interiors, leather furniture, and other small items like watchbands, belts, phone cases, etc. It's not cheap but if you have a other leather stuff it's a good investment.

Didn’t work either. The case is permanently damaged. Aulumu advised using alcohol and now the whole coating is off.

I have to buy a new case, but it won’t be here any sooner than 17 working days. Aulumu didn’t ship the case, it is Christmas season, plus Covid-19 is coming back. I know many people being sick again. It is what it is. I will have to wait.

Surely you aren't buying an identical version of a poor product?! The coating shouldn't come off unless it's painted on and not a good finish. Buy proper died leather and this won't happen. Also christmas is two months away... the cut off for even International postage without delay is still around 11 days away.

I really like the look and feel of the case. It is just MagSafe charging that is the problem. Which is not a problem for me, I will use USB charging. :)

Damn. That's a real bummer. I hope they're giving you some kind of credit or discount for the new one.
 
My Blue YMW Case from Aliexpress came today and I can only say Wow. It is Nappa leather like the Lonli classic and it almost looks the same with a few exeptions. The Magsafe Ring is correctly placed and the Bottomspeaker cutouts are only wholes like the original Apple Silicon case.

I will have some pictures when I get home again.

Be good to see some pics of that!

I had been toying with getting the blue to run alongside my grey one but ended up ordering a sheath with a 30% off code this morning; two cases should be more than enough
 
Anyone spot a YMW case on Ali that's 1) not brown (blue would be nice) and 2) has an open bottom? So far only ones I've found are shades or brown.

I have painted over a part of my Aulumu with matte white leather paint from Angelus. Took me an evening to do so and then let it dry overnight. It’s not perfect, but good enough. I think you can’t really see the rings anymore. For 10 euro’s it did the trick well enough. :)

Each to their own and all that (it's a forum full of opinion) but $60 for that fake leather case above and for it to look like it's something you'd find in a kids play set is insane :D

CPU cooling grille? what a complete farce and eyesore

Agree. He’s now $130 into a fake leather case. Could have purchased a quality real leather case and had money to spare. Personally I don’t find this case attractive at all. That cooling grille is like putting a hood scoop on a Prius.

It is an eyesore as a whole tbh, the lines etc, the writing. Prob worth $10, tops.

Each to their own and if they like it, fair enough.

The hood scoop on a Prius line is spot on! 🤣 That case looks like something you find in the $1.00 bin at Walmart. YIKES!
