Your post lacks specifics.

You bought the Delock 63928?
You're trying it with the 21.5 inch LG UltraFine 4K display (4096x2304)?

The Delock doesn't include USB and the LG 21.5 inch requires USB.

One person said an ALOGIC USB-C to DisplayPort cable works even though it doesn't have USB but this has not been confirmed by someone else.

I can confirm the Alogic USB-C to DisplayPort cable works on a LG Ultrafine 4K 21.5 with an eGPU, don't know how exactly but it does, the only detail is brightness and audio not working, but no much issues there.

Is this a thunderbolt or usb c cable?
I only have one cable given when bought the monitor. It’s a 21.5” monitor but i am not so sure about the model. is there a way I can check it?
35AC8B37-9539-4224-9AC0-00D3E39E723E.jpeg

trying with:

LG ultrafine 4k > Wacom link plus > mini DP to DP > GP

I am looking for suggestion on a working mini DP to DP cable. the one suggested earlier in this thread is not available in my country

That trident symbol means USB. You need one USB-C for data (up to 10 Gbps) for DisplayPort transmission to the display. You need another USB-C cable for power. You should also connect the micro USB cable to provide the display with USB 2.0.

Any mini DP to DP cable supporting DisplayPort 1.2 speed should be good enough.

SwitchResX can tell you the display vendor and product IDs.

Confirming the Amazon Basics Mini DisplayPort to DisplayPort Display Cable (used along with a Club 3D mDP to DP dongle) is bidirectional and works with the LG 24MD4KL-B Ultrafine display with a 2013 Mac Pro but with no brightness control. Using the Huawei VR2 cable on the same Mac enabled the brightness control in the System Preferences but the Mac gave an error notification about a USB device using too much power. Had no problems with the PC other than Windows using generic monitor settings and having to set custom resolution and timings manually in the Nvidia Control Panel (copied them from a P2415Q) and needed to load the LG HDR 4K .icc profile to get the colors to look right. Used the LG Ultrafine Brightness app from the Windows app store to adjust the brightness.

The Mac error message is interesting. I would like to see a screenshot of that. Perhaps the Wacom Link Plus would be better in this situation (has USB-C power input). Or the Belkin VR cable which has two USB-A connections (for more power?).

Hey I have a PC and wanted to buy the 5k Ultrafine, if my GPU which has 1.4 Displayport, why can't I use something like this cable: "thunderbolt3 input enabled" and connect it to these new Ultrafine monitors directly? Displayport to USB-C/Thunderbolt3
With a single DisplayPort cable, the LG UltraFine 5K display (the new one) only allows 4K 60Hz. To get 5K 60 Hz with the new or old LG UltraFine 5K you need a Thunderbolt 3 connection that has two DisplayPort 1.2 signals from the GPU. The LG UltraFine 5K display uses two tiles of 2560x2880.

There are many tiled displays like that:
My Acer XV273K can do 4K 144Hz using two 1980x2160 tiles (two HBR3x4). It can do 4K 120Hz with a single tile (HBR3x4). The Apple Pro Display XDR can do 6K 60Hz with two tiles of 3008x3384 (dual HBR3x4) or it can do 6K 60Hz with HBR2x4 and DSC. The Dell UP3218K can do 8K 60Hz with two tiles or 8K 30Hz with a single tile.

The LG UltraFine 5K has no 5K single tile mode (like 5K 30Hz). iMac 5K displays are also dual tile displays.

Correction: It may be possible to do 5K39 with the LG UltraFine 5K with a single DisplayPort HBR2 x4 connection.

Greetings from Russia, good sirs!
Could you tell me, guys, so if I will use this wacom link 2 -- will the USB dock on monitor available to my PC with all features(sound, data transmit, etc.)?
I will explain what I want to achieve:

I have mac mini and LG ultrafine 4K (24MD4KL-B model) for working(a lot of coding) and web surfing,
but beside coding, I want to play some games on my windows PC.

So I have plugged some stuff into my monitor usb-c hub:
- external USB hub( http://www.baseus.com/product-320?lang=en-us ), in which I plugged in: a bluetooth keyboard receiver, webcam+mic
- Apple USB Type C to 3.5 Jack adapter for headphones

So, when I want to play on PC I would like just to power up PC, remove thunderbolt3 cable from my mac mini and insert cable from PC(type c from wacom link 2) - and keyboard, headphones and mic will be working? Literally plug and play :)
If this will be ever possible with wacom link 2?

Thanks!

Yes, the Wacom Link Plus should allow your PC to do all features (brightness control may require installing Boot Camp driver unless you use an exe that can control brightness using DDC/CI over DisplayPort).

Mac mini connects to display using Thunderbolt which has more bandwidth to allow USB 3.0 on the monitor (and daisy chain of second monitor using other Thunderbolt port). The Wacom Link Plus uses USB-C instead of Thunderbolt and therefore only allows USB 2.0 and no daisy chain of another display.

Maybe you can connect Thunderbolt cable to one Thunderbolt port (for Mac mini) and other Thunderbolt port for USB-C cable to Wacom Link Plus which is connected to PC using USB 2.0 and DisplayPort. I don't know if you can leave both connected and just power down the computer. At most you need to disconnect one at the display side.

Remember that the display comes with two different cables - one for USB-C and one for Thunderbolt. There's a new Apple cable that should be able to do both but is super expensive.

This is no problem for me, I think I will use exe-file for that.

So that means that I will not able to use baseus USB hub that connects to monitor in which I inserted USB 2.0 things?
Or it's only about headphones connector(type-c to jack 3.5)?
Maybe I Got You wrong, sorry.

I think I will not able to do so(leave both), But I will try. Also, his but this is no problem for me, I can easily disconnect mac mini(and it will go to sleep), power up my PC and connect it to the monitor..

So yesterday I got my Wacom adapter and it worked like a charm! Even a USB hub on a monitor and all devices in this hub works perfectly. To switch between computers I need to unplug my mac mini and plug-in PC, but this is not a problem at all, considering that all other devices are connected instantly.

HELP!!!!! I really want to use this monitor but I only have a Macbook 12Inch 2017. Ive tested it and it works fine EXCEPT - I cnnot figure out a way to reduce HZ to 30HZ so I can USB 3 speeds on the hub. I know a lot of monitors have a built in tyoe switch to choose between 4K 30hz USB 2.0 vs 4K 60HZ usb 3.

Is there ANY WAY through Sotfware or Hardware adaptors to make this possible??? I really want to be able to use this monitor

Help!

Thanks!

I don't know of any monitor with a built in switch to choose between 4K 30Hz USB 3.0 and 4K 60 Hz USB 2.0. Can you link an example?

The LG UltraFine 5K probably only allows USB 3.0 when it is connected with Thunderbolt 3.

I don't know if the LG UltraFine 5K supports 4K 30Hz. That should be easy to test with SwtichResX.

If it does support 4K 30Hz, then it may be possible for you to use a USB-C hub to give you USB 3.x (because the display will probably not give you USB 3.x even if you are only using 4K 30Hz). One USB-C hub that might work (there are not many with a USB-C with DisplayPort alt mode output) is the HP Thunderbolt Dock G2 (it supports USB-C or Thunderbolt input). Maybe any USB-C hub with DisplayPort output can work. If you want to use the USB features of the display (USB 2.0) then use one of the methods to add USB-C with DisplayPort alt mode such as a Belkin Charge and Sync Cable for Huawei VR Glass

Hey, I have an RX 580 8gb, which has a displayport 1.4.

I want to connect it to an LG Ultrafine 21.5" 4k. (I'd be buying this 2nd hand off of eBay for a good price)

I think the best way is to connect it using a bidirectional USB C to DisplayPort 1.4 cable, but I’m not sure whether it will work or not. Do you know?

This is the cable I’m thinking of using: https://www.startech.com/AV/display...rs/6ft-usbc-displayport-cable-8k~CDP2DP142MBD

By the way, my computer is a hackintosh that’s running macOS Big Sur but also dual boots into Windows 10. I mostly just care about achieving the full resolution of 4096x2304 at 60Hz when I’m in macOS, but it would also be welcome in Windows. And I’m not sure if the extra USB C ports on the monitor would be able to send data back to my graphics card and computer or not.

Help. I stupidly bought an Alienware Aurora 8 with the added Thunderbolt 3 PCIe card thinking it would just plug and play and it does not. How the heck do I connect this monitor to this? Would the Wacom you posted work? And what other chords would I need to buy for that? I only have the thunderbolt 3 chord that came with the monitor.

I just want to be able to play PC games without having a million monitors and computers sitting around. I just want to be able to plug the same monitor into both computers.

If you want to use the USB features of the display (including camera, audio, brightness control, USB ports), then you need a solution that includes USB (such as the Belkin VR 2 cable).
Page 4 | Does a USB-C monitor support DisplayPort input over...

Yes, the original 21 inch LG UltraFine 4K display has a 4096x2304 resolution which DisplayPort 1.2 can handle at 8 bpc.
It seems I don't have an AGDCDiagnose for this display. Can someone post a dump?

Can you post a link to the Thunderbolt option? Does it have a DisplayPort input? If it does, then you need to connect output from GPU to input of Thunderbolt PCIe card. What display are you trying to connect? The 21" LG UltraFine 4K was USB-C only. The 24" LG UltraFine 4K is USB-C or Thunderbolt. If you got a Thunderbolt cable then that's probably it. But the display should have also come with a USB-C (not Thunderbolt) cable. If the Thunderbolt port supports DisplayPort output, then you should just be able to connect a USB-C cable between the Thunderbolt port and the USB-C display. What OS are you using?

Yes. If your display did not come with a USB-C cable, then you'll need one. You also might need a USB-C charging cable or USB-A to USB-C cable. And maybe a DisplayPort to Mini DisplayPort cable.

Yes. If your display did not come with a USB-C cable, then you'll need one. You also might need a USB-C charging cable or USB-A to USB-C cable. And maybe a DisplayPort to Mini DisplayPort cable.

I have a few questions about this, regarding the 21.5” LG UltraFine 4K and an RX 580 8GB:

1. For USB features, such as camera, audio, brightness control and USB ports, does the adapter need physical USB-A ports to plug into the computer (such as like that Belkin VR cable adapter), or can it be something digital that just runs through the USB-C to DisplayPort cable?
If it can just be digital, how do can you tell if the cable supports it or not? Can you look into those StarTech options because if there are any cables that support this digital support I’m looking for, then those seem like they’d be the ones to support it.

2. If I use the USB-C cable included included in the box for the LG UltraFine 21.5”, and I use this with that Wacom Link Plus, would the USB ports in the monitor and features such as Audio, brightness control, attached cameras etc work? Also, with this Wacom Link Plus, would I be able to achieve 4096x2304 at 60Hz?

3. Does the difference between Passive and Active converters possibly have an impact on compatibility but also if the USB features will work? I believe that the Alogic might be passive and that the StarTech might be active, so perhaps the active StarTech will allow for USB Features to work.

4. Are there any cheaper, more internationally available adapters that will be similar or provide the same functionality as the Belkin VR cable?

Not sure what you mean by digital. It's not magic. Everything is digital (DisplayPort is digital, USB is digital, Thunderbolt is Digital).
The StarTech cable only has a DisplayPort connector on the computer side. There's no way to put USB through DisplayPort (ignoring systems that allowed USB over DisplayPort which no-one used).

2. If I use the USB-C cable included included in the box for the LG UltraFine 21.5”, and I use this with that Wacom Link Plus, would the USB ports in the monitor and features such as Audio, brightness control, attached cameras etc work? Yes. The Wacom Link Plus has an input for USB 2.0 (just like the Belkin VR cable has an input for USB 2.0). Wacom Link Plus supports DisplayPort 1.2 which allows for 4096x2304 at 60 Hz.

3. Does the difference between Passive and Active converters possibly have an impact on compatibility but also if the USB features will work? I believe that the Alogic might be passive and that the StarTech might be active, so perhaps the active StarTech will allow for USB Features to work.
Alogic is the cable that works. Moshi is the cable that doesn't work (at least with the 21 inch LG UltraFine 4K display - result is different with 24 inch LG UltraFine 4K). If you get the StartTech, you'll hope it works like the Alogic. I have no idea which are active or passive or what that means in the case of a USB-C to DisplayPort bidirectional cable. It would be nice to be able to open these cables up to see what chips they use if any... But none of these cables have USB so USB features of the display will not work (unless you use a solution that includes USB such as the Belkin VR cable or the Wacom Link Plus).

4. Are there any cheaper, more internationally available adapters that will be similar or provide the same functionality as the Belkin VR cable?
They don't get cheaper. All known options listed at Page 4 | Does a USB-C monitor support DisplayPort input over...
Try ordering from eBay?

I drew a quick diagram for the Moshi adapter, my computer with an RX580 8gb and the LG UltraFine 21.5” 4K monitor, just to visualise it better and to confirm whether all the represented features in the diagram will work.

Please confirm whether this would work because I’d hate to spend hundreds of dollars on the monitor and the adapter second hand during the pandemic and then not really have a way of returning it.

Thanks

Joevt I appreciate all your help. I’ve read through quite a few similar forums that you’re helping in as well, and it seems as though you have the Wacom Link Plus.

i was wondering, which monitor are you using with it? Are you using the 21.5” LG UltraFine 4K or are you using something else?

Yes, it will work. Just keep in mind that the 3x USB-C ports on the LG will be functionning on a single USB 2.0 link. I'm not sure you will be actually able to use all of them at the same time because of limited bandwidth.
Have you considered getting a PCIe Thunderbolt card that supports DP instead to be able to use the full functionality of the Display?

Thanks for that. I really don’t care about the speeds of the monitor’s USB C ports, since I’d mostly use it for things like earphones, keyboards, small storage devices etc.

I have a Z170x gaming 7 motherboard; I’m not sure if it supports a card like Alpine Ridge or not and I’m not sure whether the motherboard needs to support DisplayPort-In for that to work. I haven’t done enough research into it, but if it doesn’t work, then it seems like it will be a costly mistake. Could you perhaps summarise how the card would work with my motherboard and the 21.5” UltraFine?
Also, would the card cause any GPU bottlenecking/limit to its power since it would be connected to a 4x PCIE lane? Or would that 4x lane only be handling the display itself and the 16x bandwidth for the graphics card would handle all the processing?
If the card is relatively simple like where I just plug it into my motherboard, then it will be more tempting
