I am just disconnecting the LG 4K before putting my MacBook to sleep.

FYI: This issue does not happen when I use my 12" MacBook, so definitely a compatibility issue between the 2016 MBPs and the monitor.

Well that's positive at least, would hopefully suggest it's something Apple can fix in an upcoming OSX patch.

Got mine today! Both hooked up and gorgeous. I know I may be in the minority here, but I really like the look--the monitor "fades" into the background and actually makes my Thunderbolt display seem a bit dated. They are much nicer in person than I expected.

Snap: except I still have two...on order.:)

So do they both work well without the lag issues mentioned by in previous posts by other users in this thread? Also, do you get any light bleed issues, when using the black screen shot given above?

The only thing I'm gonna do differently is have the MBP on the desk right in front of me to use its keyboard/trackpad/screen, and then have the two LG screens on a plinth above and behind them. I may invest a few quid in a dual display stand for the displays instead though, I haven't decided on it exactly.

At least until Apple release a new version of the keyboard with the touchbar on it, when the new 5K iMac's arrive later in 2017.

I wish I had a desk big enough for that, looks great. With my desk, I can't even use the MBP at the same time. I have the 27" surrounded by Audioengine A5s and the MBP in clamshell mode above the monitor on a shelf. Huge desk, but shelves make it tricky. Luckily the 27" using the option for the second highest amount of space, whatever "resolution" that is, has so much space it works for my needs.

I got my LG 5K yesterday, it's mind-blowing! I love the quality of the audio and the ease of connecting. Plugging in an external hard drive to the back makes the use of a dock unnecessary. A total winner!:p:)

I assume everyone in the 28-29 December range which was the fastest ship time now has there 5K.

Which means the next window is the 2-4 weeks starting January 10th. Will they ship sooner? Or do we expect them a bit like the TBMacBooks slightly behind schedule (as in towards the 4 weeks more than the 2).

Does anyone feel the 5K screen much warmer than MBP's internal display? I find it a lot warmer and it would be warmer and warmer when I use it

Mine was warmer, yep! Having two all-white windows full-screened I could certainly tell. I ended up adjusting the white point of the color profile for the LG to ~7k, which brought it to matching the rMBP. 7k might not be a perfect match, I was just eyeballing it in a hurry.

Hi all, I posted a thread specifically for bugs/issues here: LG UltraFine 5K - Issues/bugs

I know a lot of us are speaking about issues in this thread but I fear not enough will be reporting them to Apple/LG, so if we can use that thread to list all of our issues we can hopefully direct LG to it for easy reference. Hope that makes some sense haha.

Interesting that the 5-19 overlaps with 10-23 shipping period. I wonder if there will be early movement or late movement for you guys.

Also I believe my return period for the 4K is up on the 8th January so personally I hope there is movement as I'd rather return the 4K for a full refund than mess around on eBay. (On my 13" I can't use both or I probably would!).

Got mine today. No sleep wake issues. Monitor looks even better in person but I thought it was okay to begin with. Picture quality is amazing. Now the only question is how long before I decide to buy a second.

I don't seem to have any lag whatsoever--it seems to be working perfectly for me. I also don't really notice any light bleed issues--depending on your angle, it's no different than any other monitor I've used or my Mac's screen (if you shift to the right, it'll look a bit lighter on the bottom left and vice versa, but head on I don't really see any light bleed). Maybe a touch? Seems normal to me though and no different than my previous Thunderbolt Display.

To help you out, I took a picture with the Mac in front and the stand as high as it will go. The top bezel of the Mac overlaps with the bottom bezel of the LG without any stands needed. Like maybe it was intentional!

Thanks! I'm super excited about it. I honestly originally bought the two of them thinking that I'd end up returning one with the hope that 1 of the 2 would be acceptable in image quality (I had a bad experience buying my original Thunderbolt Display and ended up returning 3 before I kept the 4th--lots of inconsistency in the backlighting and light bleeding issues which I was afraid I'd see with this too). After seeing the picture on the first, I figured screw it, I'm keeping them both! :)

Good luck with yours--maybe with some creative re-arranging you can figure out how to get both screens (that's what I previously did, just the 27" TBD and the 15" MBP screen, which never felt large enough anyway).

I am having serious lag (dropped frames) issues on my 5K.

Current setup:

1. 1 LG 5K
2. MacBook Pro 13" Escape (Base model)
3. I use both screens (MacBook's led isnt closed)
4. Apps showing considerable lag are AffinityPhoto and Sketch App

Current memory usage:10GB/16GB

Anyone experiencing such problems with the base model MacBook Pro?

What happens if you close the lid?
Did you try to call Apple? They assured me that the basemodel would have NO problems with the big 5K screen...

Awesome photos of your dual 5K setup rtkane! Glad to hear the performance is good with the 15". Can't wait to get my setup. This is the reason I ordered the laptop. I wanted this after the first time I looked at a 5K iMac. Too bad Apple screwed with the Swiss customers and removed the product.

I was also thinking about putting the MBP in front to use the touchbar and the new keyboard. But I will probably keep using it in clamshell mode after all. It preserves the laptop itself better. My 2012 Retina still looks like new.
I'm really hoping to see the touchbar and the new keyboard switches in an upcoming wireless keyboard once the new iMac launches!

Can you set the MacBook to its "native" doubled resolution of 1280x800 and see if that makes a difference?

No difference. I am not a fan of calling Apple because I know their answer. I will wait to see if others are having this problem.

Anyone here using the MacBook Pro 13" base model (no touchbar) with the 5K screen?

Anyone here using the MacBook Pro 3" base model (no touchbar) with the 5K screen?

That's too bad. I have a 13 TB 3.3/16/512 and have a 5k on order to replace my Dell 24inch 4K Display (which I have no issues with).

Maybe this is similar to the 2015 13inch Iris 6100 being "technically" able to drive a 4K at 60hz over display port but performance was inadequate. Maybe the 2016 13s can do it but not well enough. Remember the 5k is really combining two images so the 13 is having to drive 3 displays.

I'm waiting for my 5k and bought the Rain Design mStand so that I could access the Touch Bar and touchpad. I may revert to using the MBP in clamshell mode, but that obfuscates the whole Touch Bar.

Thanks for this image! if I get one of these monitors to go with my 13" TB Pro then this is how I will be using mine, monitor will be on the wall in front of me but with my MacBook also in front of my and I would want to be able to see both screens at once, this looks excellent and gives me an idea on what it would look like.

Are you sure it's combining two images? I thought that was effectively a workaround for prior generations, but with TB3 and sufficient bandwidth that is now unnecessary. At least it's unclear to me why it would need to do that, instead of just pushing a 5k image (Im no expert).

Hm yea I'd be concerned that my 13 inch TB won't be able to smoothly handle the 5k monitor (it hands the 4k very nicely), as I don't remember reading the iGPU in the nTB is particularly less powerful than the iGPU in the TB.

On a stand like that, the Touch Bar would be too far away for my taste anyway.
Besides, the Touch Bar was never a selling point for me. All I cared about was the 2TB disk and dual 5K support.

However, I quite like it so that's why I'm hoping for a new wireless keyboard.
