Normal accepted proof is a video with a working cydia, working iOS 6 explicit apps, working iPhone 5 explicit features and an untethered reboot of the device, none of these have surfaced.....

none functioning Cydia, just a still picture.

As long as MN says it's fake, its fake.

please move on.

Why would we move on? It's clearly someone that is onto something. All they need now is that fix for the crash..
Wonder hows that happening tho.

Dont tell us to move on. We are free to believe in this.

I am beginning to think @Adutrumque is getting paid to be a fanboy for this group.

He is so caught up in this, he is responding to his own posts by doubling up.

Oh well.

You can believe what ever you want, just don't expect us to believe as well as all the evidence is pointing to a fake, maybe just take two steps back and ask yourself why you believe yourself.

A very imature set of teenagers posts a set of tweet, a fake pic (certified to be fake by one of the foremost jailbreakers with direct access to cydia and the likes) a none functioning cydia, excuses and fights and break up of the group when another prime jailbreaker asked for proof.

i'll take my hat off to them when they grow up and do get a jailbreak, for now it's a write off.

You guys do know that video isn't from the same source though. Looks more like an unrelated person or group that's working on it...

They are crawling out of the woodworks!

We can probably choose which 1, oh yes lets start a contest!!!

It is a race. First one to do it is sure to get rep and fame. Who wouldn't want that? High paying job offers would be a plenty. Who knows, maybe George Holtz will crawl out of the woodwork and steal all the glory. In the end, win for everyone except for those that came in second...

Like_a_sir, ragemasta, and that dwaynefortman guy are all fakers. Confirmed fakers by musclenerd.

You want an iPhone 5 jailbreak, you'll get it from chpwn, posix, or maybe even geohot. Not from these clowns.

How can you fake a video? I don't see any sleight of hand there.

Webclips and PhotoShopped images. For instance, it is not a functioning Cydia; it's an image copied from chpwn, who actually has a jailbroken iPhone 5. Nothing they showed us couldn't be done on an un-jailbroken device

The video I linked "http://vimeo.com/50904249" not associated with any other people you mentioned is not the same image as chpwn. The Cydia version running in the video doesn't fill the taller screen size of the iPhone 5 like chpwn. You can clearly see it shows it running version 1.1.6 of Cydia, which is the latest PUBLIC release. Chpwn's version seems to be running 1.1.6-2 or something indicating that the jailbreak down in the video lacks the same resources or partnerships as chpwn.

Last I heard, more advanced emulators were never available in the AppStore, only MAME, which was only on for a short period of time before it got pulled. Also, MAME was never advanced enough to run relatively newer games like Street Fighter 3 Third Strike. I've used iFBA before, and it's the best MAME emulator on Cydia. Although, it wasn't designed to run on the wider screen of the iPhone 5, you can still see the coin or start button trailing off to the "unused" black bar portion of the iPhone 5. So it's not recorded off an iPhone 4 or anything. Also, I never heard of Installous being ever available from the AppStore or anything remotely close.

So I'm not sure how you explain having these apps fully functional on a unjailbroken phone. Maybe they're extremely advanced webapps that mimic it? Well, that still doesn't explain why they appear to be running as system level applications. You can also clearly see that iFBA, and AirServer have transparent backgrounds. Any application running in user level, will have a rounded square icon mask over it so even if you do manage to inject an unauthorized app whether developer signed or not, it'll still suffer from a rounded black square around the icon no matter what you do to the icon file even if you made it transparent and even if you set it as a pre-rendered icon in the info.plist. It will still not allow it to be transparent with the background. There are ways around it. Such as using Winterboard to skin the user icon mask to something else, or you can manually change it in the Systems/Library/CoreServices/Springboard.app folder, but the conclusion is the same. You will need a jailbreak or root access to manipulate.

But I'm sure some of the sources mentioned in this thread are fake. Especially the ones that you need to pay for to have the jailbreak. But a a fake here and there doesn't mean that they're all fake. The video I mentioned did a pretty good job to reassure us that. It was never taken out of shot, it was done by hand, and it was continuous. Trust me, it's extremely hard to manipulate a video that is that shaky and maintain its continuity. I've only seen movie professionals do that with preprogrammed robotic camera mounts to mimic a cameraman's shakiness to manipulate a video. Even with the use of professional movie equipment, the fact that he was holding it with his hand throws out variable that can't be replicated easily to introduce fake frames in the video. Reflections are also consistent and dimensions are also consistent with a real iPhone 5. Now if it was broken up into clips or if the video was completely still with a tripod mounted camera, it would be more questionable

Listen, I don't even know why you're posting this video here. As far as I can tell this guy has no relation to like_a_sir and the fakers we're talking about here. Nobody is claiming that there are no jailbroken iPhone 5's out there; we're merely saying that these dr1zzle people are liars.

For all I know this person does in fact have his iPhone 5 jailbroken. But what does that tell us? Certainly there are plenty of people out there who are capable of jailbreaking their phones using developer-only tools and known exploits. That doesn't mean that they've got a releasable public jailbreak. And it doesn't tell us anything about like_a_sir and his crowd.

That was because mod accidentally removed my post and no I'm not a fanboy.

Great post appbidder.

@Adutrumque & @apbidder

This is what you guys should be looking at…

MuscleNerd

Great talk just now by @mdowd and @kernelpool at #HITB2012KUL detailing iOS6 security....which they then defeated, showed Cydia running live

@pod2g, @planetbeing are there as well

What is that telling us? That they have a tethered jailbreak?

I want untethered.

i want, i want, i want

exploit->tethered->untethered…

Patiences is a virtue, alas hard to find these days.

I want untethered.

And yet the supposed jailbreak you are so hot and bothered over is not even a tethered jailbreak. Did you miss the part where your boys say that currently the thing has to be restored every time it's rebooted? Believe me, a tethered jailbreak confirmed by MuscleNerd is progress light years ahead of even what your boys have claimed.
