I just picked up the last one at the Apple Store on Stockton in SF. There were press people from Apple there taking pictures of all the people buying the MacBook Air. Can't wait to play with it :D

Alright, I went through this thread and compiled all of the results so far, if there are any errors or ones left out, the just let me know, and I will fix it. All the information is based off of what people have said in the thread, so if the data was wrong that was posted, and it ends up not being true, then don't get mad at me. Also, I did mark the ones where purchases have been made, since it seems there is a limited stock, there could be none left at certain stores.

Note: For best results, use this list as a guide, but I would still call and check to see for sure if the store has demos or airs for sale

California
Corte Madera, Corte Madera – Demo / Purchase
Los Angeles, The Grove – Demo (SSD and HD) / Purchase
San Diego, UTC – Demo / Purchase
San Francisco, San Francisco - Demo / Purchase

Colorado
Denver, Cherry Creek – Demo (SSD)

Connecticut
Danbury, Danbury Fair Mall – “Have displays up” not sure if that’s just posters or demo units
Farmington, Westfarms - Demo
Stamford, Stamford – “Have displays up” not sure if that’s just posters or demo units

Florida
Orlando, Florida Mall - Demo
Orlando, Millenia - Demo
Tampa, International Plaza – Demo

Illinois

Maryland
Bethesda, Montgomery Mall - Demo

Massachusetts
Burlington, Burlington – Demo (SSD)

I can confirm that the Michigan Ave. store in Chicago does have a MBA on display and they're selling them on a first-come-first-serve basis. I was able to play around with the MBA for a few minutes, and it's truly an incredible machine. It wasn't too slow, btw.

I have been calling this store all day today -- at least hourly, and they have denied having any every time. Argh.

So YOU'RE the person I was just cursing when they just told me they'd had a few in and they'd all been sold very quickly.

No clear knowledge of when they're going to get any more in. This is truly ridiculous - Apple come out of this like the most Mickey Mouse organisation.

Cherry Creek update...sort of

I just went back to the Cherry Creek store. Ok, yes, I'm a freak and have gone there every two hours since they opened.

I heard the sales dude telling someone else they all they had were the same two, the one on window display and the floor demo, BUT, he also said that they had already sold the ones they had for sale. Ok, wtf?

Each time before I was told they had none for sale. Maybe he was just showboating to the gal he was showing the demo model to.

When will the madness stop?

Tell me when it's for sale and I will get in line and wait like I did for the iPhone.

Likewise - either I or my OH has been in and out all day, with only the vaguest of responses. We must have somehow missed the tiny sales window.

OK, I'm at Millenia Mall now. They've got two MBAs on display. It's incredibly light and thin (duh -- but actually seeing one in person really hits it home). I could definitely slip one into my messenger bag without worrying about space or weight.

Now if only they'd sell the damned things! Still "no idea" when units will be available. I've gotta say, this is pretty ridiculous.

It figures, though: the first time I decide to buy a Mac, and Apple won't let me have one.

It's cool to see a lot of people buying the MB Air despite all the naysayers on MR. I just don't understand the point of having a thread that post the stores that have the Air to look at? Within the next week or so all of the stores will have it. It's not like Apple stated that Air would be in short supply but anyways, I was just curious what's the point?

The screen is really nice, and very legible despite being glossy. Unfortunately, I'm pretty tall, and the tables the demo units are on are kinda low, so I'm looking at a pretty oblique angle, but I can still see clearly.

Also, this is probably the first time I've sat down at a laptop keyboard and just been able to type normally; the feel and key-placement is excellent. I'm almost as fast and accurate as on the MSFT Intellikey Pro I've been using for almost ten years.

I'm on the 1.8 GHz version now, and everything I've started up is very snappy. I tried the other unit for a little while -- not sure which proc is in that one -- and there weren't any real delays for programs. Definitely acceptable for regular use.

I just noticed that in Leopard, the dock reflects back what i'm typing in this window, that's kinda weird.

I was surprised today when I went into the Chicago Michigan Ave location to see that there was only one MBA on display... with herds of people around it trying to get a glimpse at it. You would think they would have more...

The thread was started days ago, and most stores still don't have units in stock for sale, and only put up demos this morning. Yeah, in a few weeks it will be irrelevant, and people will stop posting. For now, what do you care? :p

Yeah, I hear ya. For me, it's the first time I'll actually buy one in a store since there's no BTO difference as there is with any other machine from Mac Mini up to Mac Pro. HDD or SDD.

I guess I should have ordered after the keynote but wasn't quite sure then. I gotta leave town now and couldn't wait for even express shipping from the PRC.

Oh well.

Now drive over to the Florida Mall Store, and PLEASE, bring me some good news, I NEED to buy one this weekend, otherwise, I'll be doomed!

LOL, any chance to bribe the salesman in the Millenia Store?

The good side of the grass.
What a day!! I went mobile to two stores, got lied to a bunch, caught someone off guard and now have a MBA!!!! Truth is - there is no truth when dealing with SJ's minion's. I literally almost came to blows with a smarmy little punk today and finally the manager said "sell it" to get my loud ass out of the store. Well this is my last post on the lead-sled MB. Going for wireless migration asst. now. Short story is they have 'em but haven't been given word from mothership it's okay to sell 'em yet!

Congratulations!

Any tips on how to get one? Seems like the story is starting to come together? Stores probably have them and just aren't allowed to sell them yet.

Once again the guys at the Tysons store were definitely hiding something.
