Argh! The Timbuk2 messenger photo did not get quoted. Anyway, which model and size is this?

It's the Timbuk2 Commute, medium sized. Seems to be very very well made and fits the Macbook Air well. I have plenty of space for some extra books, but it's not too roomy for everything to fall all over the place. Nice bag. I won it on eBay for $75.

I didn't find that color on their website, which is why I went with eBay.

Hmm - got one of those. The Medium is huge, imho. It fits my MBP with Speck SeeThru case. :)

Just got the brenthaven tonight. It's a briefcase style made for 13.3". Great bag.

I'd definitely be interested in the Vaja Cases... if they didn't take 30 days to make.

I'd also be interested in the Mac Cases... if they didn't have that ugly window showing the Mac logo on the front.

Oiy!

I want something high quality and sturdy, as I plan to travel with the MBA, I need something that will stand up to a little bit of abuse.

Suggestions?

Using the Neoprene Incase for my Air, and love it. Although it's a tight fit, it protects this baby for all it's worth. The case will stretch over time, did take a few tries when I first got it though.

I took a chance on this one -> http://www.amazon.com/Synthetic-Leather-Manila-Envelope-Black/dp/B000BHLFK6/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=apparel&qid=1205863444&sr=8-1

It is a bit big - few inches wide. I guess you won't get perfect fit I guess.

so there are some options available. I got it last night, i will post a pic later tonight if anyone is interested.

Although I think I'll end up biting the bullet and getting a Vaja case, I'd be interested in seeing what MBA's 'synthetic leather manila envelope' looks like.

InCase Neoprene for MB (+FedEx Padded Envelope)

I purchased a sleeve from InCase designed for the 13" MB.
http://goincase.com/products/detail/13-neoprene-sleeve-cl57077
The MBA is a little "loose" in there so I modified a FedEx PadPack to take up the extra space. The MBA now fits snuggly. There's also enough room to put the power supply between the PadPack and the Neoprene sleeve and prevent the power adapter from scratching the MBA.
It was pointed out the InCase just posted a sleeve designed for the slimmer MBA.

A review states "it's a little snug." Probably not any extra room to carry the power adapter too.

How snuggly does it fit the MBA?

The In Case Neoprene for the MacBook Air is a tight fit but takes some time to put the corners on.

I too find that Neoprene case to be too tight. I almost have to force it in to get it to fit.. Even when I fit it it, it does not seem to close fully. Maybe someone designed it too small..

I bought a Waterfield sleeve, which is padded enough, but looks horrible.

Then I got a Wrapper, which looked better, but doesn't look like it'd protect my laptop from anything.

I wish Crumpler would make an Air-specific bag.

I think the ultimate solution is to use my Wrapper with a nice Crumper laptop bag (that is already padded).

My Incipio Orion case arrived on Friday. It's nice and simple, but there's one problem... It smells so bad I can't bring myself to put my MacBook Air in the thing.

I knew I wasn't getting a real leather case like a Vaja, but I'm starting to wonder if the Vaja would be worth it just for the smell. :)

I also got the Incipio Metal Grey, mine doesn't smell though and used it once and decided to get rid of it. It's up on the marketplace.

Currently happy with using my UK Wrappers sleeve for the Air.

Also ordered the Civilian Lab case which I hope that receive in a few weeks. It's similiar to the Manila Mac but won't ship until mid April.

Also had the ManilaMac, good quality, but decided to get rid of it and sold it to a happy camper here on MacRumors.

I have the red one, so maybe the dye used is causing the smell?

I think the smell is getting better, it's just taking a long time.

I have been contemplating the Tucano sleeve relative to some other sleeves... My primary use would be for protecting my Air while traveling in my backpack as well as for carrying to meetings around campus. That said, any thoughts on the overall padding and/or the possible contact of the zipper closure with the air?

I also have considered the Booq viper series, but that seems to be a good deal more expensive...

Thanks,

I have the Tucano and can confirm that the zipper doesn't really come in direct contact with the Air as there's a 'lip' inside the case that folds over the Air before you zip it closed.

Having said that, I've decided to pick up a Waterfield case for carrying the Air day-to-day inside my messenger bag for two reasons:

- (Main reason) It will be easier to simply get the Air in/out of my bag with the Waterfield.

- (secondary) I'm still slightly concerned that a sharp object might scratch the Air if something should shift inside my bag. The neoprene is reasonably thick, but I don't think it's anywhere near as protective as it will be on the Waterfield (of course this is an assumption as I've not actually held the Waterfield in my hand as yet, but they get great reviews).
