I certainly appreciate the comments on the Tucano bag... I admit the Waterfield bags due seem to offer more protection, another bag along the same lines may be the Brenthaven Trek sleeve - which is interesting because it is vertically oriented possibly better for my backpack use?

The Waterfield can be ordered in a vertical orientation as well. Check out their site at sfbags.com. It lets you 'build' your case effectively by adding straps, flaps, etc.

It'll probably be a few days before I have it, but I'll post back once I do. There's also a thread here somewhere about Waterfield sleeves in particular (just search on Waterfield in the Air forum).

I look forward to hearing your thoughts on the Waterfield bag, from browsing other threads there does seem to be quite the following for Waterfield bags. I am intrigued by the Brenthaven Trek as a vertical sleeve with a zipper as well as protection on all sides of the bag - also the cost is approximately 50% of the Waterfield bags...

Just purchased mine as well today and waiting for it. Read good reviews on them. Been through a whole bunch of cases for my Air (selling them now one by one) because I would go all out for protecting this bad boy.

The question is would you take a bullet for it? lol. Maybe you should hire a bodyguard :)

Waiting on receiving my tucano sleeve, seems like it is taking forever (has been a whole day, how sad!!)

Very nice case!!! I have one of these and am sure you will love it!!! It is the best quality case that I have ever bought! Fits like a glove and keeps with the slim profile! Enjoy!!:D

Agreed. Just got mine and there's no room for my Air to move around. Excellent case. This will be replacing my UKWrappers Alcatarana Grey Sleeve (I have 2 of them for sale now - 1 brand new in packaging, and the other used for 3 days); an Incipio Metal Grey Sleeve (up for sale as well, used only for 1 day), and my In Case Neoprene Sleeve (black, also up for sale, used only for 1 day).

Gonna keep this SFBAGS one as I believe it's the best one so far.

If anyone's interested in the others listed above, send me a PM.

Thanks

As promised, pictures of Tucano Second Skin sleeve for Macbook Air:

In general the Air fits really snug in the case with the lips around the edge protecting it from the zips. It is definitely not a case that provides a great deal of protection from a drop or anything of that nature but will hopefully do the job of keeping the scratches away when carrying it about in another bag.

Overall reasonably pleased with it and would recommend it for light protection and keeping the bulk down.

(Sorry about the picture quality, just used the iPhone as it was handy)

Currently, I am using the InCase sleeve when I carry my MBA inside the laptop compartment in my small backback. This sleeve adds very little to the form factor, but it will not provide much protection from drops.

I also have the Brenthaven zero impact sleeve that I plan on using to protect my MBA when I'm using my carry-on wheeled bag. This sleeve provides very good protection, but it also adds bulk to the MBA--it will not fit inside the laptop compartment of my backpack. The sleeve provides great protection for those carrying their MBA inside a messenger bag.

I think one of the reasons for the strong support for this line of products is that the company has a very high touch customer experience--their ordering system is efficient and makes for a very pleasant purchasing experience--their customer support is top notch and then just add to that the high quality standards of their products....

Interofficemac.com, brethaven, incase

I have all 3 of these caes for the Air and The newly released odel of the interofficemac is still the best. I do think Vaja will have a great sleeve but for the money you can not beat my buddy Sean's bag at http://www.interofficemac.com but if you want to see a sweet but exspensive bag go to http://www.vajaleather.com
Also Vaja has a secret sleeve coming soon that will be very nice also. Interofficemac is going to have Vaja make there new sleeve coming out and in the next month or so take over the manufacturing of the Interofficemac sleeve , it will be a bit more pricey and it is losing the zipper and going to a magnetic snap sysytem for closure and will use the top flap and it is going to be somewhere around $90.00 for the leather and $37.00 for the faux leather but they are both going to be a new improved style. The current interofficemac is great and for $29.95 you cant beat it. But still check Vaja out for sure

Been using the Waterfield sleeve for about 3 weeks now and loving it for the awesome craftsmanship and design, protects my Air inside my work bag consistently. Also, use the Civilian Lab case that I just received about 2 weeks ago. Also a good case in my honest opinion.

Have been through the In Case Neoprene Sleeve (didn't like it too much, and still have it up for sale for anyone that's interested).

Been through the UKWrappers Alcatarana Grey Sleeve (didn't like it too much, and also have it up for sale for anyone that's interested).

Also have the Incipio Metal Grey Sleeve (didn't like it too much as well, and still have it up for sale for anyone that's interested).

First case that I ever had was the ManilaMac which I sold to a fellow MacRumors member here, so rest assured, I've got good feedback on this forum.

If interested in any of my cases, prices are decent and not extravagant. PM me for details if you are interested.

Bags & Sleeves

I just got my new Maccase Flight Jacket. It fits my MBA like a glove and is made of very supple leather. There is lots of room for accessories including a removable pouch for the super drive. You don't have to use the pouch for super drive only it can be used for whatever you want. The whole thing is very compact and not too heavy.

Go to maccase.com and look for Flight Jacket. I think this one is going to be hard to beat.

New Interofficemac Sleeve II

Interofficemac has came out with a new version of there sleeve and I was lucky and have been talking with Sean since a few days after his site went up and he sent me one of the new sleeves. It has hidden magnetic snaps that are safe to be near the computer, he checked the design with Apple by asking about how they used the magnetic latch and not hurt the hard drive and it is where they placed the drive inside that makes it safe to be near magnets. Also this model has no zipper so now he can make it to the snug size so many are interested in. I like my regular one becuase of the zipper and this one is a plus becuase it is exact same size as the Air. There is no skimpping on the padding it is still padded more than any other on the market and since there is the hidden magnets it has a secure closure. Ths is my favorite for the Air yet. He is taking pre orders for the new InterofficeII and he is guarentteing to have any pre orders in the hands of customers by the very latest the last day of May but he thinks it will be much sooner. The price is the same as before for pre orders and after they arrive he is changing the site and they will be $36.99 plus shipping. Also he is working with Vaja to create some really nice stuff for this summer. Looks like he is here to stay . I am hoping to get a sample of the Vaja sleeves for the Pro if that is what it is going to be. Any way here are a few pics of the new one the Interofficemac II . I will try to post pics in a post after this one it is failing for some reason. http://www.interofficemac.com

Is there a good neoprene sleeve or other similar sleeve with hooks at the two top corners for a strap? I would want a sleeve, but want to be able to strap it if I wanted to.

I thought this looked interesting. Archetype by Tom Bihn.

http://www.tombihn.com/page/001/PROD/300/TB1300

I bought one of the waterfield sleeves with the flap and the shoulder strap. It's about as minimal as you can get for a shoulder bag. It's the same bag steve31 posted but I didn't buy the additional pouch.
