The airline adapter wont work with the MBA because of the angle that the connector forms with the surface of the MBA. That angle is almost perpendicular with the table surface and would put gigantic amounts of stress on the cable. However, Apple released a universal adapter to address that issue.

Are you sure? My understanding was that the airline adapter (mine is almost a year old) would work with an MBA.

It would physically connect, and should work fine, but from what I can see of the MBA's power socket location, you'd have to raise the machine up about an inch or so on something like a book to not either be bending the cable at an immediate near-90 degree angle or knocking the plug out of the socket.

It will still work connector, voltage and amp-wise. However, because of the stress that would be put on the cable at the point where the cable locks into the adapter it would eventually break the cable off. The same thing happened with my guitar cable and with 4 pair of ear buds I have owned over the years. So maybe I misspoke by saying it wont work at all, but while it does work it wont work for long.

Think people are lying about the shipped status?

Anyone whose got one thats shipped post a screen!

No they aren't lying. Apple can control exactly what date your products arrive, short of mechanical failure during transport. If Apple tells Fed-EX/UPS/DHL that the product is not to leave the distribution center until a certain date then that is what happens. So theoretically they could already be in your town waiting to be delivered to your house, Apple just needs to give the courier the go-ahead. At least that is how I understand it to be.

I personally will kill anyone who is lying lol.

It does seem a bit odd out of all of who are pre-ordering one or two people report shipped.

Or smelling some BS ;)

lol. Well I think it makes sense that we'd have to start seeing a significant amount of shipping notices since stores are projecting beginning of next week and people having their cards charged / prepared for shipment.

OT: Why do you have the MacBook Air your ordered as a 'ultra-portable MBP' in your signature? The 13.3" screen and gargantuan bezel nearly as wide as the 15-inch MacBook Pro so it isn't ultraportable and I don't think that the glossy screen or integrated graphics merit it as a professional machine.

It was just used to annoy the "professionals" lol.

I personally think it can be called an ultraportable MBP, not by specs, but by design, SOME features and of course price / apple's intent.

I had a small check to see if the displayed shipping time on the online store had decreased at all, which it hasnt. The Air's were released a week today and it said 2 - 3 weeks, so I had the slightest hope that it would say 1 - 2 weeks now but clearly it doesnt, ahwell :)

Scharf.

The auth on your cc should release just before the real charge is applied. My card was charged today as well.

To be honest, I don't think that the statements of some members - regarding the question if the macbook air is already shipping or not - claiming their device is already shipping is true.

I have ordered the standard 1.6ghz 80gb as soon as possible after the keynote (I think my macbook has a number starting with MB003... which could indicate that I was the third who ordered the macbook air) and my Order Status still hasn't changed from "Prepared for Shipment" to "Shipping".

But I expect this is subject to change within the next few days.. *me bumping up and down*

The "MB003..." has nothing to do with how fast your ordered. That is the model number. Mine is MB003LL/A. Just thought you might want to know. :D

I have to agree. I placed my order at 10:50 PST the day of the keynote. My cc was charged today but my status is still "prepared".

The MB003 is a portion of the part number. The last 4 digits would indicate your order in the line. I am 18x.

No one would have it in their hands without payment being processed first.
