Whats with this birthday thing, mine is 1/24 BC LOL I hope mine ships on that date :)

Well my wife is really good to me as she knows I am a Mac ADDICT. I have absolutely no real use for a MacBook Air as I have a wonderful MacBook Pro. But she knows how I pine for the latest just to play and enjoy. No other vices and I'm retired so she indulges me. She saw the look on my face when the macBook Air came out so she said we'll do it for your birthday. Only problem was I couldn' t get her to bite on the idea of the SSD:):):):)

Weird....

Amazon always gives a blanket date when a new product comes out from Apple. Trust me, I've ordered many Macs from Amazon and it will ship out sooner than the date they give you...at least this has been the case with me every time (and I've ordered probably 5 Macs through the years thru Amazon). And, yep, I have an order in for the MacBook Air too through them. :)
Love Amazon-customer service is excellent!

Yeah I got an email back from Amazon saying the date doesn't mean anything because the product is not in stock as it is not released as well as no set date for release.

So I am pre-ordered with Amazon, and calling up the local store every morning, so I can get it asap.

i think ill just take my chances at the store now. I sold my macbook pro and getting the mba for sure, but do not feel like waiting for it to ship if i order it this late. I figure, one of the many stores in the LA area will have them shortly after they start to ship.

Does anyone know if the stores do the government rate too?

with proper id they applied the rate to my purchase 3 years ago. So they can do it, at least three years ago.

I ordered my wife's from apple with a ship date of feb 6th and arrival of feb 11th.
I ordered mine from amazon and got a ship estimate of march 19th!!
Hopefully like everyone else is saying that is just a random date they put up..if it really takes that long i'll just go to one of the many apple stores here in nyc and pick one up

Don't worry just a fake date. We'll probably get ours before Apple Online people.

i seriously doubt amazon will get MBA shipments "BEFORE" Apple

looks like theres already enough orders to move shipment back by a day
since newer orders now shipdate is the 7th instead of the 6th
