So why don't you buy a current Android flagship so you might know what you are talking about?

So you admit.....an IOS update bricked your iphone. And yet you wonder why people worry about the next update

No. Please read. It didn't "brick" my phone. It killed cell signals, but I was still able to function with wifi. And again, I was back up and running within an hour, with all apps and data restored. Try that with Android prior to 5.0 without using a 3rd party app.

Yes IOS has bugs, do you know of any software that has zero defects? Didn't think so. Having said that 8.0.1 wasn't buggy, it was the OTA update script that was an issue and affected a small percentage of apples customer base. Ios 8 has generally been fine but 8.1.1 is super.

I don't think anyone makes the claim above.....
Did they fix the battery drain for the IP5s on IOS 8.1.1? What about the freezes and crashes on the iPad 2? My iPad Air is laggy with 8.1.1.

What battery drain issue? Nobody I know has a battery drain issue. As far as iPad 2, 8.1.1 runs like a champ in my iPad 2. I can't speak for any hardware other than 5s, i6 and 6+, i5 and iPad 2.

for all reported issues not everybody experiences the same issue. I know of no one who has the aforementioned hardware that is experiencing anything of any significance on 8.1.1. I can't speak for 4s or iPad 3/4.

My 5s is rock solid on 8.1.1. I have only one jetsam event since 8.1.1 was installed on nov 6. I regularly keep in touch with colleagues on Apple hardware, no serious issues either. As always YMMV.

peoplw don't usually post everything is perfect and googling something doesn't give you the full scope.

----------

Give it up. He doesn't care about the thread. Just here to derail it.

Why would I know about an issue I don't have?

I hope you were actually clicking the delete key and not just the back cursor button.

The backspace key is next to the M key in landscape mode.

LOL yes I am hitting the delete key.
Does this not happen to you?

All code has bugs. Some bugs are more a PIA than others.

I have iOS 8.1.1 and the only bug worth mentioning is the keyboard bug. Otherwise, no complaints here.

I have Android Lollipop on my Nexus 5. Only bug worth mentioning is the animation hang bug. That occasional 1 second delay.

Neither bug prevents me from using my phones. Some people just like to bitch for the sake of arguing.

I know, right? It gets so tiresome seeing the same b.s. spewed back and forth. There are legitimate issues that do arise (like the serious battery drain during the Android L preview or Apple Maps when it first came out.) Those are issues for good discussion. There are posts in threads like those that can really help someone.
But the whole 'x company copied y company' and 'x company came up with it first', plus the name calling just gets old. Useless threads that should be relegated to the wasteland.

But at some point you gave fire back at the trolls. Moderators do not help. I find myself not posting here anymore because of all the trolls. The guys that cone to the Alternative section to post negative about Android. They have no Android devices..... Have no interest except to en flame the rest of us. So what do we do? Give up and not post here anymore? Report them? It does no good.....

I miss this forum before the recent influx of iOS exclusive users since the release of the iPhone 6 :(

I will do my best to not fall into the trap and just ignore them. I know I am guilty of 'getting distracted'. Just use the ignore function and be done with it. I know it's hard to ignore the horse manure being flung :-/

Threads such as android this vs ios that or Samsung this vs apple that, invite a discussion and should be open to all comers. It seems in this section the definition of who is considered a "troll" is sometimes a moveable line in the sand.

There is a lot of what some might call "bashing" on both sides of the aisle, with as you say a lot of flame bait posted by both sides.

I don't own any android device, but I have played around with the M8, Note 4 and S5 enough in the Verizon store to know those devices and operating systems do not appeal to me as much as an apple device.

This is an prime example of what i was talking about. This guy has no Android experience other than playing with Android at a store. Or someone had an Android device years ago and hated it so now they feel compelled to troll the Alternative section and judge every Android device by that experience. Then there is the devout Apple fans that hate ALL things Samsung because of some blind faith in SJ/Apple and the lawsuits that ensured. Yet these people are here in the Alternative section attacking Android. They do not know what they are talking about. Yet they are taking over the Alternative section.

The irony is this thread is discussing Lollipop VS iOS 8.1.1 so is surely going to attract input from people who have used both or are interested in the problems of both?

Any thread here that invites discussion that plays one off against the other is going to have differing opinions conveyed. This may be the alternatives section but that does not mean the only people who are allowed to participate are Android only people. Many of us here own both and have extensive experience of using both and that has to be a plus point. Of course people are going to have a favoured OS or device, and if others cannot accept that then it is nobody's problem other than their own. Its also worth mentioning that Windows and Blackberry users amongst others are also welcome here.

It is ultimately down to the mods to police the threads here and I am sure they appreciate it if posts are reported if they contravene the rules. It is not down to us to suggest where people post and what they should post. :)

First impressions are everything don't you know? iphone won the "play around with the phones in the store for an hour" and buy the one you like best.

On the this vs that comparison threads, you own on of the phones, played around with one of the phones, handled one of the phones post away. The website is MacRumors; notice who owns it.

So then is this the only time you post here? The only time you post is when it says IOS? There is a section at MR just for IOS. This is the Alternative section where people can post that they don't like IOS and not start a flame war in the IOS section. That is the difference. Do you have an Android phone? If you do not like Android devices....then why are you here? If you prefer Apple devices then why not stay in those sections? Wht the need to constantly post negative things about Android or Samsung here in the Alternative section?

The Alternative section is where people can post negative things about Apple/iPhone and so forth without starting a war in Apple/iPhone sections. If you prefer those devices why come here to the Alternative section unless you have an agenda.........

Do you really not see the difference? Really? I played around with an iPhone 6+ at a store and it bends a little.....therefore all iPhones bend and are trash. That is false but see how at the store can be misleading?
First impressions at a store and owning a device and getting to know the OS and advantages and disadvantages are TWO different things.
SOME of us have owned both platforms and actually know the strong/weak points from using them. I have had every iPhone since the second generation.
I have had every iPad made except the Air 2. How many Android devices have you owned to truly get to know the OS? Playing around with one at a store does not count...........just so you know. It is not the same as owning getting to know one.......

I post on whatever thread I find interesting and if I feel I can offer my opinion. I have a passion for tech and enjoy discussing and exploring what is out there. I have regular contact with Android devices both at work and in my personal life so it is nice to contribute in this section regardless of whether my primary devices are powered by iOS. This section shouldn't be just about posting negative things about either OS, it should be constructive discussion considering the pro's and con's from people who have experience. I don't dislike Android and enjoy learning about it to keep my options open for future upgrades. Again, it's really not your place to suggest where others can post and accusing others of trolling is having the same effect as we see here with a rather derailed thread.

Correct...but then that IS why there is an ALTERNATIVE section. So people can express opinions that do not go with the rest in the regular Apple sections.
They can express them here without starting huge wars in the Apple sections.
You have to question people's motives if they love Apple devices yet spend most of their posts and time in alternative threads......
