I was set to get a 13. Now it doesn't have Touch ID. Riding in trains for long hours requested to wear masks I need something that is mask usable not Face ID only. So no 13 for me at this time. But the alternate new buy SE2 is growing old and not available with 256 storage option anymore. So no SE2.
Here is a "willing" customer that doesn't find a matching iPhone! Waiting for the SE3 might be the way to go.
I don't like to wait for the "tik" 14 as the first versions always have something that needs improvement.
Good thing my jurassic 6s still got updated. I might end up changing the battery another time.

I hear you about the Face ID with masks…sucks, really needs alt Touch ID…luckily I haven’t had to wear a mask for a few months now so my Face ID is back to being ok, but it was true pain when wearing.

Would you consider an Apple Watch? It’s eradicated the annoyance of masks not letting you open your iPhone with FaceID. I know not everybody wears watches or likes things on their wrists though. I’ve always worn a watch if some sort and find it a useful addition to the iPhone.

No Apple Watch for me. I don't like daily charging and carrying another charging stuff with me. I sometimes wear a wristwatch but I don't truly need it as the phone always tells the exact time even adjusted for actual local time like always varying DST which is great.

That’s fair enough. My watch charges on the same charger as my iPhone so it’s no big deal for me. I use mine for setting timers and mostly for reminders on the go which is probably about 20 times a day lol. Also for fitness too but I know not everybody is into that sort of stuff.

I am not so much into fitness however I'm doing long walks anyway just to move around. And company e-mails are a constant flow I don't want to be distracted with on my watch on top. So for me there is no use case.
What would be great for me one day: Some solar powered Apple Watch with a constant moving map and (pedestrian) routes.

You can disable emails in the watch, they don’t come through on mine. You can also use it for directions when walking which is more discreet than walking around a new place with your phone on display. Not sure how they would design a solar panel into an already small watch though. Plus if the watch is up a sleeve most of the day, it would be a little pointless in my opinion. I think it’s one of those devices that some will have a use for and others won’t. If it’s not appealed by now after years in the market, it likely won’t unless the person is unaware of its potential.

For the price of AW, it could be useful to buy AC+ with Theft and Loss, to shine bright with your map on the streets😁

Wow, looks like this will be the iPhone to get for those of us that waited.

No matter what features are announced for the 14 series this year, I’m still upgrading my 12 PM to the 14 PM. I’m still saving for it and right on target.
Hi MJ, if you buy wisely then you never need to save. For example, if you went to last fall to bestbuy and trade in your 12pm towards 13pm with tmobile at bb, then you would pay only 100+tax. Hopefully the same happens this year.

I’m keeping my 12 Pro Max as a backup phone, and I pay outright for my devices since I buy from Apple. I used to do the trade in and upgrade with T-Mobile but I switched to Verizon in August 2020, because I got tired of paying T-Mobile’s high upgrade fees. I haven’t had any issues since. I’ll definitely be buying outright with Apple this year and not pay any device payments again.

That is the trick. You are buying outright no monthly credits. So you could sign-up 1 month with t-mobile or have a relative/friend with t-mo and pay them to trade-in yours. Phone can be unlocked on day 40, or you could ask support team to unlock at day 3. After that, you are free to leave t-mo.

Seems like jumping from the 12 Pro Max to the 13 Pro Max gives you:

*Somewhat* upgraded camera. Probably not significant for most users.
A15 processor (vs. A14 processor)
Significantly improved battery life (allegedly)

I upgraded from the 11 Pro Max to the 13 Pro Max mostly for the 5G. If I had the 12PM I would have sat tight as long as there were no issues.

I rather have no monthly credits and a cheaper bill, and be free to leave whenever I wanted to. T-Mobile service wasn’t the greatest when I left so I don’t plan on returning unless they gave me free service.

I’m still happy with my 12 Pro Max and just waiting until September to upgrade to the 14 Pro Max for the better battery. Many people with the 12 series have bad batteries (me included). None of my iPhones dipped under 95% in the time that I kept them. My 12 PM is at 85% now.

Apple told me on Friday that if a battery goes down to 80% in 2 years, that is totally normal and expected. When I told them I’d never had an iPhone battery deplete this quickly, the reaction from them seemed confused. I wasn’t totally happy with their answers to be honest.

I’ve never had an iPhone battery go bad like this one. It’s ridiculous that they keep saying it’s normal. I use my phone to listen to Apple Music for 6 hours, and maybe talk for 2 hours a day, browse for about 2 hours at home and I still have to charge my phone twice before I go to bed. I’ve never had to do that with any Apple device under 2 years.

I checked my battery health on imazing. Battery health in settings say 85%. Imazing say 426 charge cycles at 3251 mAh (88.7%). I know it’s depleted a lot since I got it on launch day as I said that I have to charge it twice a day before I go to bed at night.
