I'm finding missing songs even in "For You" playlists - what's the point of curating a custom playlist for me, based on my recommendations, that has greyed out songs in it?

Quite a few missing albums in the UK which are on all other streaming sites, several Kate Bush albums, Xscape by Michael Jackson, Cosmic Thing by B52's and also quite a few tracks like the most recent Selena Gomez song, the Charlie Puth/Wiz Khalifia track is greyed out on the Furious 7 soundtrack but is available on spotify, deezer etc. Also this is weird, look up say Tracey Ullman track list and you see songs from one of her albums which isn't showing up when looking for that album and if you try to go to the album page, it says an error occured, this is the case with several other albums.

Right, it's safe to say after Tim Cook reading my email and passing to Oliver Schusser to sort out, and Oliver passing it to Sergio, who asked me some questions, they have all abandoned me - the last contact was nearly a week ago, and I've chased Oliver and Sergio up 3 times each now, no response.

I spoke to Apple chat support about this, they said it will be down to licensing etc, but I highly doubt that apple wouldn't be able to get the streaming rights to an album you can find on any other streaming site. Out of curiosity is Michael Jackson's- Xscape available in the US

Had exactly this issue. Although not ideal but if a track is not available it should not show up. Interestingly no one is mentioning this issue with Apple music, all we hear about is how good it is. If this issue happened in the US it would be on the news.

With you 100%. If I keep finding these missing tracks - which as I say in some instances they're greyed out on cellular but fine on wifi - then I'll drop Music like a hot rock at the end of 3 months and just go back to reliable old Spotify.

This is definitely not a UK only thing. I'm in the US and hit many grayed out songs, usually the most popular or exclusive song on the album. Seems like a licensing issue. Many of these songs are also album-only in iTunes, so even if you wanted to complete the album by outright buying the one song, you can't.

Some of these songs are also grayed out in Spotify, but less of them. Spotify also has every album by every indie artist I listen to while Apple Music is missing most of the artists altogether or only has one of their albums... Which is kind of strange as some of these artists run their own labels or release completely independently in the same way for all releases, so you'd think it would be all or none.

Greyed out songs for most part is licencing, except for the Wiz Khalifa/Charlie Puth track on the Furious 7 soundtrack, thats available to stream elsewhere, it's the albums which are missing like several Kate Bush albums and Michael Jackson's XScape which is weird

Finally a answer. All I was able to find here was I was from the UK and have grayed out songs. So even in the US there are missing songs. Great you made my decision to stick with Play Music as very few songs are missing. Out of all the albums I added only 2 songs from the Michael Bolton albums are missing.

If it's licensing issues, why couldn't Oliver Schusser or Sergio simply tell me that when they emailed me?

Track 7 of "Hats Off To The Buskers" by The View is greyed out.

"All These Things That I've Done" by The Killers is greyed out on the album "Hot Fuss", but available on the Deluxe Edition.

All versions of Sarah Brightman's Time To Say Goodbye are greyed out.

There are many, many others.

Bit off with The View song, having checked Napster, they only have the deluxe version of Hot Fuss so can't really compare. Michael Jackon- Xscape, 4 Kate Bush albums, Moldy Peaches and B52's- Cosmic Thing are still missing for me as well loads of soundtracks. I'm not surprised we got 3 months free with so much missing music

What makes me think this is not a licensing issue as that usually the song that is greyed out is available on a different album.

This song from The View that has been discussed on the thread.

As I said before the Wiz Khailfa song on the Furious 7 soundtrack is greyed out but available on other streaming sites. incidentally, in the last few days, Apple has removed a lot of compilation albums and soundtracks, I'm guessing they shouldn't have added them in the first place

Yeah I'm pretty sure it can't be licensing if a song is greyed out on an album but available on the deluxe version of the same album, or on a greatest hits album.

But if it's not licensing, why has Sergio and Oliver from iTunes completely ignored me for over a week, after I answered the questions Sergio asked me?

Ok, after hearing nothing (still) from Oliver or Sergio, I emailed Tim Cook again, last night. Today I got an email from Dale Bagwell saying he was sorry that Oliver/Sergio hadn't been in touch again, it was unacceptable and he'd try to help. It said he's the Manager of iTunes Customer Experience for Apple. He asked me what issues I was having, so I told him about the greyed out songs, the screwed up artwork and metadata, etc.

I'll report back.

Tell him about tracks showing up in search but not the album, an example Art Of Noise- Reduction, I look that up in search, 7 tracks from the album slow up but not the album. It seems for some reason apple are being very slow at uploading some albums

Ok, he's replied - firstly he says he can see the same greyed out tracks I can, so he's escalating to the Content Management Team and is hopeful of a response by tomorrow.

On iCloud Music Library changing my artwork, he says he agrees with me, it seems to be an issue with how iCloud music and Match are working together. He want me to be available tomorrow for a call with some senior techs to try and find a fix, or at least give them more of an idea of what's happening so they can come up with a fix.

I've asked him about Art of Noise. I notice the same issue you have myself. If I press the 3 dots button whilst playing one of the 7 songs from that album, then press the song name to take me to album view, I get "Item Not Available in your country or territory", which is weird considering the whole album only has 7 tracks! So the whole thing is available in song view, but the album isn't!

Yeah and it's not the only Art Of noise album having that issue, there are other albums where say half of the tracks from the album are showing up, most of them on the same label ztt/stiff records. The one exception is The Continuing Story Of Radar Love By Golden Earring, that's on Red Bullet label and only one track from that album is showing up
