At first everything was great. Then some time later i got beachballs from time to time in Safari - noticed most happens on my work's website. Thought it is bad site code, until i started getting beachballs somewhere else.
Finally suspected 1Blocker and uninstalled it. Surprisingly now safari opens websites even faster than before with 1blocker. No beachballs for now, have to check that for some time.
Though, youtube ads would annoy me.
I haven't had any trouble with 1Blocker. Have you contacted the developer?

Had basically zero problems with my m1 air for the first month. Today I decided to do a fresh install to clean out the HD. Ran into the error with creating a local account that a lot of folks have, but found a workaround by doing an "erase" in system recovery (vs. erasing volumes individually). Throw in a failed password reset in terminal (no clue if that did anything) and the problem went away.

Upon my first restart, it went back to the recovery startup and asked for my password, then to confirm what I wanted to book.. which was weird but then it started up fine.

I upgraded to Big Sur 11.2.1 and just had my first crash. Came back too see the Air had restarted and got this error: SOCD report detected: (AP watchdog expired), which I understand is pretty common with AS models.

Wondering if I should reinstall and not upgrade to 11.2.1, since that's the only thing I can pinpoint. I cannot have this computer randomly shutting down.

FWIW I also had an external hdd plugged in; after crash and restart it doesn't appear to be recognized by the Mac. This happened previously and I think is an issue Macs get sometimes with exfat drives (I also have a windows computer so thought it wise), but perhaps is related to the crash.

Ugh. Installing the Big Sur 11.2.1 update and my M1 MBA got stuck during the update. Maybe I've just been lucky but it's been a while since I had issues with Windows updates. Considering the vertical integration on Apple Silicon Macs, I expected better.

Earlier, I've had to reboot my new 12 mini multiple times because it kept getting stuck at different stages of initial setup. That was probably the worst experience I've had with iOS device setup (and I've setup a lot, both restore from backup and new).

What? This is terrible. I use it all the time in Mohave.

Updated to 11.2.1, it's working now.

New issue, I can't get into recovery mode when holding down the power button.
I suspect this happened after I updated to 11.1 a few weeks ago.
Hope an USB reinstall will fix this.

If any of you do a clean install of 11.2, you may run into problems during the install process. I did last weekend. And that was taking the same steps I had before with no problems.

The article posts out several of the problems you may encounter. That way, you aren't caught completely off guard.

That article is about issues with upgrading and not clean install which is one of the suggested fixes.

I know what the article is about. I read it before posting. I am saying that I had the same problems with a clean install of 11.2 as those mentioned in the article, even though I have done other installs without a problem. I was giving a heads up, as it were.

i got issues with software update, after every os update my MBA went to restart and never restarted again back normally, all the 4 times i was forced to force shut down and then start again, i don't know why this happened, if anyone can help i would be really thankful to them.

Touch ID was flawless until recently. Its hit or miss now for me, even added the max amount of finger prints. Noticed whilst adding additional fingerprints that it was struggling to register each press. Never had this issue before.

That happened on my Pro M1 on upgrading to 11.2.1, but not 11.2.

It really could be the exfat drive. I have had one kernel panic since Jan 12th when I got this M1 MBA, and it was with an exfat external drive connected through a hub.

I'm planning to buy mac mini m1 16gb, 1TB config.
Is the bluetooth issue solved already?
Is there anything I need to be aware of?

I'll be using it for my video editing job at home. While at the office I have other systems.

I'm unable wait for new mac launch. Too long. :(

M1 mac mini after putting the monitor to sleep (built in HDMI port) the computer cannot use the HDMI port to wake the monitor back up. Appe Case Number: 101297959391 I am forced to hold the power button the the M1 mac mini down until it powers off then reboot. The computer is running fine it just won't wake up the HDMI port. Have updated to 11.2.1 and I still have the problem. Others have it also. Changed cable and monitor and that did not help. This does not always happen. However it occurs frequently.

I'm having this issue with my M1 MBP not waking my external monitor still.

No MBA M1 owner has ever noticed two ticks coming from the bottom case after "cold" every start ? I wonder if it's realted to trackpad hapic feature...If anyone can check, TY ! ;)

No issues as i don,t have one.
I just saw someone selling a M1 Mac Mini with 512 gb on eBay apparently he ordered one with just 256gb and they sent him the 512 one. Any one else got a deal like that?:rolleyes:I doubt it

Hi everybody!

I own a MBP M1 from about a week and I found something annoying...
Have anybody noticed any sticky noise coming from the upper case when opening the lid?
It seems a sort of "clicking" sound occuring mostly when quickly opening the display...MBP is working properly but this strange noise is really annoying!
It seems like the sound you can here in the linked video...in my case is not so loud but I can hear it every time I open my lid:

Thanks in advance!
Simo

You must have the version with the self locking magnetic lid. Rare.

Big issue with my M1 MBP. Using a USB-C hub with HDMI and power plugged in, I came back after the mac had gone to sleep and computer wouldn't wake. After running through resets with Apple support, I can get my external monitor to work (as mirror or extend), but retina is black - looks like theres no backlight because I can faintly see my desktop.

Has anyone experienced this?

Guessing it's either coming from trackpad due to suction when opening lid. Or, from keyboard key switch retraction. You can try ruling out the first by putting down some sticky notes on palmrest next to trackpad to create an air gap.

Having some weird USB issues with a brand new M1 Mac Mini. Devices including USB mouse/keyboard randomly disconnect and don't return even after rebooting. Devices only come back when they are unplugged and then plugged back in. Anybody else having similar issues? I created a thread in the Mac mini forum but no replies as of yet.

There is a problem with the Thunderbolt ports which was not fixed (at least for me) in the latest update. Every time the Mac mini is rebooting, I have to reconnect every device connected to the thunderbolt ports. But when reconnected everything works till the next reboot. Maybe this is the same problem?

SUPER HAPPY with my MBA (fastest Mac ever!).

Things:

1) Silent click does nothing. Still producing a clicking sound; maybe it is normal. Not a big issue. WORKAROUND: I can tap instead.

2) My photo stream does not work. I tried many things, rebooting... It's enabled but no photos. Works in all other devices, Macs and iPhone/iPad. Go figure. WORKAROUND: I found none. Waiting for a fix (I'm on 11.2.1).

3) External monitor resolution not supported. Strange thing happened: I plugged an old DELL 24" using DisplayPort and it worked perfectly well (right resolution) immediately. But I noticed that it was not set to Default for Display, it was Scaled but... no resolution selected there, and the right one (1900x1200) was NOT even in the list. As fool as I am, I tried them all (none worked well, of course) but then there was no way to go back to the good one. WORKAROUND: SwitchResX. Hoping for a Big Sur update to fix this.

This are all minor annoyances. The worst is Photo Stream. Anyway, the machine is superb. Still getting used to the keyboard, but I think I will. SSD is superfast (2800+ MB/s) (1TB). Sound from speakers is so-so, no big deal for me either. Smaller than my previous MBA. Camera is not that bad. All software works. It's a keeper.
