I have no any luck running x86-64 windows applications on M1 via WINE or it's derivates. Parallels is overpriced. Only UTM gave a little hope. I don't bother to experiment anymore. I chose another junk(tm) windows pc as the solution. On the M1, Rosetta 2 runs x86-64 based Mac software. Parallels can run Windows 11 Arm version which has a x86-32/64 to Aarch64 translator so it can run x86 windows software. So no, not only in UTM.
Edit: There is also crossover which is based on WINE which runs some x86 windows software via Rosetta 2.
Is your memory leak issue reproducible? I have not read about elsewhere other than a couple of posts in Macrumors (possibly yours!).Still broken:
Palm rejection
Memory leak
Touch ID wake from long sleep
Fragmentation, Big Sur doesn't work with Blender GPU while Monterey breaks OpenCL
Lacking native software
Lacking silicone apps? Do see the wiki post of change/silicone apps: https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/universal-and-native-apple-silicon-apps.2267176/This morning I had an issue with an Automator Folder workflow failing, causing everything else to crash. I've got a few workflows setup to pull photos added to specific folders in Finder over to a folder in the Photos app. I've also got a screen capture folder set to pull into the Photos app. This morning I couldn't wake my Laptop, just stuck on the screensaver. Had to hard reboot, but then after logging back in again I found that quite literally none of the apps I was trying to open would respond at all, and would eventually crash. I found that 'FolderActionsDispatcher' was eating up over 300% of my CPU somehow. Force quitting that would just cause it to open back up again, and then the action would fail. Rinse & repeat. I ended up having to reinstall macOS 12.2 over itself. Seems to be ok so far since.
That's really strange. A "lot of lag and beachballs" could also be indication of something wrong either with your software or even the hardware. I would have the Mac checked.I confess I haven't read every post in the 35 pages, so apologies if anyone else has reported this issue, but my M1 Mac won't play video for more than a few minutes after a restart - in any browser or app - and the music app now won't play at all. I get a lot of lag and beachballs, but I think that's because I need more RAM for my usage.
Thank you, I really appreciate that - I never know what should be 'normal' really given that I have no engineering/computer background knowledge. I know my RAM pressure is always in orange or red, so I figured it was that causing lag, but the other issues presumably have another cause - I just don't know enough to figure it out!
I have had excellent luck running some critical x86 programs in Crossover, but it took about 6 months after the M1s were released for things to stabilize. It's actually much faster than running the same programs inside a VMware virtual machine on an Intel Mac.I have no any luck running x86-64 windows applications on M1 via WINE or it's derivates. Are you running a Studio Display? My Studio Display needs to have power cycled once in a while to clear up a similar video/audio lag issue. Many others have the issue so I assume a fix will come one day in a future software or firmware update.I confess I haven't read every post in the 35 pages, so apologies if anyone else has reported this issue, but my M1 Mac won't play video for more than a few minutes after a restart - in any browser or app - and the music app now won't play at all. No, no external display at all. Very strange. I do hope you get a fix soon! Are you running a Studio Display? When the beachballs started appearing on my 2020 M1 Air, I ran Onyx's file system structure check, and it found errors that Disk Utility could not repair. (Onyx was easier than checking every volume with Disk Utility).I confess I haven't read every post in the 35 pages, so apologies if anyone else has reported this issue, but my M1 Mac won't play video for more than a few minutes after a restart - in any browser or app - and the music app now won't play at all.
